Chapter 3: Current Plan of Action
We discussed at length about our Immediate plan, we need to secure some amount of money, as Momo has a rule about making currency and it would only be done as a last resort. We also need to ensure food as all we have is some Food Pills that Momo carries for emergencies. and finally we will need some kind of ship in order to leave this island and start our journey. For the money we can't do anything mundane as the longer we take the more chance that we miss important story events, we will have to either find someone with a bounty and claim it or "reallocate" some criminal funds. Momo wasn't too happy about the idea of using criminals' money but agreed that it was acceptable in our current situation.
Food can be solved rather easily due to the large jungle in the centre of the island, the place where we arrived was actually on the outskirts of this jungle and we may have been in trouble if we headed in another direction. The jungle houses large ferocious beasts that you would normally assume to have tough muscle-filled meat but one of the nice features of this world is that all meat is juicy and tender even if all you do is grill it over a campfire. We can then use the food to solve the boat issue as Momo can then freely use her power and make us a basic motor boat which will be more than enough to start our journey.
We decided to first head into the jungle not only so that we can secure food but so that I could practice my new devil fruit power without drawing attention or injuring bystanders. Once we were far enough into the forest we decided to perform my first test. We decided to use the shield Momo made me as my test dummy since my fruit power could replace it. Attempting to simply activate the power while holding my hand to the shield caused it to slightly move but didn't deal any noticeable damage, next I hit it as hard as I could with an open-hand strike which caused it to move a bit more and leave a slight indent in the shape of a paw, it would appear that attacking with my paws enhances my power somewhat as there is no way I would have dented the steel with just my strength.
My next test was attempting to focus my power on the air in front of my paws in order to form a ranged shockwave-type attack like I remember Kuma using, It was actually quite easy to form the attacks but they were impossible to aim, out of ten shots I only hit one, for now, I could use quantity instead of quality but It would be terribly draining on my stamina and I definitely needed to work on my aim but it was good enough to be useful for now.
We finished off my training session with Momo boxing me as I try to defect her attacks with my paws this was definitely something that we would have to continuously train but getting pointers from a professional like Momo definitely helped step my fighting up from nothing to amateur. afterwards we had a short rest as I was drained while Momo wanted to be in peak condition before we entered the jungle.
After resting it was about an hour before sunset so we didn't have much time left to find and kill something big enough to sustain both of us for the night. I did my best to keep watch of the surroundings while Momo analysed tracks and markings to lead us through the forest and towards our prey. After about 20 minutes Momo gestured to me to be quiet as we slowly approached a small clearing containing a large rock upon which rested a large lizard. Momo drew her sword and I readied myself to fire air paws as soon as Momo was in position. Momo crept around the outside of the clearing until she was in a position to cut it off if it ran away and gave me a signal.
I jumped out of the foliage and fired as many air paws as I could at the lizard while cautiously approaching it, after the first paw exploded on the rock the lizard immediately stood up and stared at me while eyeing the rest of the paws heading towards it. It seemed to have some kind of instinctive sense on danger as it started dodging the paws and hiding behind the rock. While this happened Momo crept up behind the lizard and attempted to cut its head off in one clean swing but it was able to dodge at the last moment and was able to avoid a lethal blow. Although it would soon die due to blood loss this was the most stressful part as everyone knows a cornered beast will bare its fangs.
In its desperation, the lizard decided to lunge at me, presumably because I was visibly scared as opposed to Momo's calm disposition. with the lizard lunging at me I panicked and shielded myself with my hands which caused the lizard to hit my paws and get sent flying backwards with even more momentum than it lunged. This sent it crashing into a large tree, dazing it for long enough that Momo was able to finish the job and behead the lizard.

I immediately navigated to the lotteries section and selected the Ability Lottery, There was no filter on this one either, I started the wheel and It spun up, I basically ignored how long it took this time since I knew it didn't really matter in the end. Once the wheel stopped I was greeted by another Popup.

The list that appeared contained a bunch of minor effects that could help me in my journey, In the end, I decided on Alert as I assume it will increase my reaction time.

Wow this ability was perfect, not only did it help my biggest flaw it could be improved, my first ability didn't mention anything like that. I closed the interface and helped Momo with the carcass as I explained to her my new gain, We decided on simply taking the meatiest parts of the lizard along with its skin as Momo suggested they may buy it in town. We wrapped the meat in some plastic sheets momo made and headed back towards town.
Once we reached Town it was just hitting sunset and all the stores were closing, we quickly ran to the butcher and asked if he would like to purchase the skin, he looked sceptical but quickly came around when we pulled it out, he praised it for its quality and lack of blade marks then handed us a small bag of gold and finishing his closing. We asked him about a spot in town where people wouldn't mind us camping and he pointed us to a small dirt patch that seemed to be used to host feasts and town gatherings.
As Momo made the tent and set it up I started the fire by reflecting some tinder between my paw pads causing it to quickly ignite. I pulled out a slab of meat and started roasting it, It quickly became perfectly cooked and smelled divine, how any of this worked I had no idea but I wasn't about to complain about easy food. I split half off and handed it to Momo as we both bit into it and then quickly scarfed down the rest, it was so good and I could tell I could eat more so I started roasting some more, Momo also seemed to still want more as she pulled out another slab at the same time. Eventually, we had eaten all the meat and were both shocked at how much we were able to store without any outside change. I chalked it up to another oddity of the world and informed Momo of my thoughts to which she shrugged and agreed.
With our hunger sated enough that we could probably go days without food now we both entered the tent and I found two lovely sleeping bags that looked like they could be made of clouds. I changed back into my pyjamas and momo changed into ones of her own that she made and we both laid down to an immediate sleep due to our exhaustion and the lovely bedding.
