Chapter 2: Chapter 1: ~Like a Castelia?~

Premonitory dreams always accompany my nights of rest, but I never say anything to help the inhabitants of this small town, much less my family since Dannét takes care of that (my cousin, she is considered more accurate in that type of stuff), daughter of Hannah Castelia (my father's older sister) and Trevort Arend (Dannét's father). We both possess the same gifts, but my grandparents say that she is stronger than me, and thanks to that they have given me a heavier training to catch up with her.

Since my father wants me to compete with her, every day I have to get up early to start my meditation sessions. Not having a clock, Ferguson the rooster, our mascot, is my alarm clock. I have tried to get rid of the damn rooster though my efforts are in vain, whenever I leave it in the woods...it comes back the next morning to wake me up, I wish there was a teleportation spell but unfortunately there is nothing like that inside the magic book white of my ancestors.

Not really wanting to start my day, I just rolled until I reached the edge of my bed and then slowly got up. Standing up, I went to my bedroom window and then opened it, revealing Ferguson singing over the fence that surrounded the house.

— Shut up Ferguson, I'm already awake— I kindly asked the rooster.

The animal ignored me and continued to sing, out of tune and broken, but he was still animated and with no intention of shutting up. Well, it was to be expected, he only obeyed dad.

—Shut up Ferguson!— I asked him again as he held one of my rubber sandals.—You don't want to fall off the fence, do you?

As always, having a discussion with that rooster was a daily routine that even when my parents heard me, they only yelled at me from the ground floor of the house to call me to go have breakfast. I hate having to get up at 5 a.m. to start my studies and spiritual training, but it's something I can't get rid of because of the crazy beliefs and tradition of my paranoid family.

After taking a bath and putting on clean clothes, I went downstairs to the first floor of the house where my parents were waiting for me with a ready breakfast consisting of a bowl of porridge made with strawberries and blueberries.

The dish was served on the table that was circular in shape, so I just took a seat in my place that was next to my father who was talking to my mother.

Already after having finished eating, my father put aside the conversation he was having with my mother (a conversation he had not paid attention to) to talk to me about what he should do today.

— Since you still haven't mastered the art of infusing your energy into things... you'll have to meditate more before starting with the most advanced. — He spoke to me with great seriousness. — Remember that Danett has already mastered this and he just needs to control the astral travel.

— Ahg, Danett... she is she and I am me. We will have the same gifts but... remember that we are different, she is stronger and there is no doubt about that.— I snorted.— Father, I am not here to compete with her, much less because of a tradition.

Before my father could speak, my mother stepped forward to defend me.— John, remember that our son is very special just having those gifts. You shouldn't make him make an effort just to compete, Nath does what he can and in his own way, maybe he's going slowly but... what if he learns more things than Danett who learns the first time? Be patient with him, remember that He still has to turn 22 years old.

My mother was very understanding, although she never denied that I was part of a tradition that, according to my paternal relatives, is dangerous since she had a lot of faith in me. On the other hand, my father only sighed heavily and then nodded at the above said by my mom.

— You're right Rossalin. I know it may sound like I was trying to make him compete with Danett, but.— In the blink of an eye, my father's serious face changed to one full of concern and sadness, something that was not very common for him, but still I decided to continue listening to his words with no intention of interrupting.—You know I'm afraid he'll end up like my younger brothers, besides... Nathaniel is my only son...

— My family is not like yours and I understand it, I know how much your concern is but... you must have more faith and hope. — He hugged us with great affection and after a few minutes he separated from us to continue with his duties at the just like my father and me.

We both left the house to go to the patio where I took a seat on the grass in a lotus pose to start meditating but something prevented me so I only opened my eyes to see my father who was next to me.

—Father, doesn't my mother's family have traditions?— I asked without caring to interrupt him.

My father, still with his eyes closed, sighed as he felt how the cold morning wind ruffled his short jet-black hair, I feltnervous not getting a quick response from him but that feeling faded when he turned to me.

—Of course they had it but they stopped practicing it because of something that happened, I'm still not sure what it was but... your grandparents have a clear hatred towards her.— When he opened his eyes, he only looked up at the sky to continue talking.— They say that his family is the rival of mine.

—And why did they get married?— I asked him, somewhat curious and surprised at what he was telling me.

— Your grandparents say that it was witchcraft or mooring but I say that it was because of so much prohibition of both families, without realizing it we fell in love and without our parents' permission we got married. — he sighed.

— I didn't know anything about that but the most important thing here is... Why do the Castelia and Fray families have such a big rivalry?

— Nath, I don't know that exactly... but your grandparents always blame them. Since your mother came into my life, it was a blessing, believe it or not, they accepted her until it was my younger brothers' turn to carry out the tradition.... From then on, everything began between both families.—he explained to me. a little.

—Maybe later I'll ask the grandparents what happened but... I doubt they'll answer me, they always put me aside. Could it be that they don't consider me a Castelia?— I asked a little worried.

— Son, don't worry about it. You can also be a Friar, but if you want to silence your grandparents and uncles... you must comply with the tradition.—he answered me as he returned his gaze to me.— Your mother is right, I shouldn't pressure you when you don't you want to do this but you really know that...

I interrupted him.— Don't worry, father, now that I know a little about the reason why they put me aside... I'll show them that I can be better Castelia and I'll prove the innocence of the Fray family— Raising my hands towards him early morning sky, I just smiled to pretend I was taking in one of the stars that graced the firmament.—I promise.

—Okay son, but for now concentrate on meditation if you want to carry out my family's tradition— My father mentioned to me, who smiled when he opened his emerald orbs.

—She's right— I scratched my neck with shame.—I must train more to show what I'm made of.

Still without erasing his smile, he ruffled my brown hair and then returned to his original pose. It was strange to see him behave a bit like that with me, but even so, I did not stop watching my surroundings since I felt a small discomfort inside me that was getting bigger every day, could it be that I am turning 22 in two weeks? I don't know but something of a tremendous magnitude is about to happen and if my senses are alert, something will go very wrong.

Call me close, drone, maintained, or whatever you like but... it is impossible for someone like me to leave home without first doing what tradition dictates and without full training, if this is not done... it is said that something bad is destined to happen to the Castelia for having gifts. I would like not to believe my father but every time he talked about his family's secrets (which he rarely did) it made me even more interested, although I have not experienced anything paranormal if I have had what they call premonitions, which gives more credibility to my perspective.

—I, Nathaniel Castelia. I will find the truth.— Taking a lotus posture, I closed my honey-colored eyes and then tried to concentrate, but the image of the silhouette of a woman caused a shiver down my spine and my eyes widened.— Ohaaa! but what...?!

— Nath, focus. — my father talked me.

—Y-yes!— I answered when I heard him to quickly return to training, but with that image still haunting my mind, it was difficult for me to return to mine.
