Chapter 3: CHAPTER III: WHO IS A FRIEND?
5 YEARS LATER
It was 8:00AM in the morning, the alarm clock rang, every part of my body felt weak, maybe it was because i couldn't get enough sleep because i was reading like crazy for the academy entrance exams.
To be fully accepted into the academy, i need to pass through three stages:
1.The WRITTEN TEST stage: it's all about a test which is loaded with 70 survival questions and a 500 letter essay on how you would survive. To pass i need to get an average score of 55% and above.
2.The SURVIVAL stage: This stage is when an unknown amount of extra-ordinary people from all over the globe are put in a monster infested area for 17 HOURS. To pass just survive.
3.The SPECIAL stage: This stage activities are unknown, the goal are unknown, and the method to pass are also unknown. So i think the best thing to do is to be cautious.
I think i should go to the centre and get ready for the exams, i've waisted enough time thinking about this stuff, i might get too nervous if i continue.
Immediately Yuki went of to the examination centre where he saw a huge crowd of people swarming into the centre to take the examination, it took up to an hour for the supervisours to organise us into groups, which varied up to Group W.
I was in Group D, so i was done with the exam sooner than expected.
After the exam i was informed that the results would be out in the next 15 days.
It was crazy though but i know i made it through. Let me just see how it goes.
15 DAYS LATER
I heard a knocking at my window at 0:00AM, my body froze out of fear, i took out a blade my dad and i used to go out hunting for wild animals with.
Before i even reacted the window bursted open and a man wearing a childish mask and an all purple attire jumped in my room and then he gave me a file.
I was so shocked that my brain didn't know how to grab what is going on.
Then the man said "Congratulations Mr Yuki you have been part of the selected few to move on to the next stage of the entrance exams, Here is your map".
He then hands down a map to me and he continues to speak"Use the map to get to the next stage but be warned DO NOT misplace your map for it has the pass code to the next stage of this test, Which will begin today at exactly 12PM, being late will not be tolerated, so do you understand all this information Mr Yuki?".
I slowly shook my head.
Then the man suddenly jumped out of the window and he vanished into the darkness of the night.
TIME: 7:26AM
Due to the incident that happened, i couldn't sleep properly, i already got my lougage packed, i've told my good byes to my parents, and am out on my way to the next stage.
3 HOURS LATER
I've been walking for up to 3 and half an hour, but i just can't find it, but along the way i met up with someone, he looked like he was my age mate, he left of an unpleasant vibe, he wore a straw hat and a brown kimono, and with him was an elegantly made katana which he kept carelessly on his belt and i could see his map which was given to him from the academy,which was also kept carelessly in his pocket.
So it seems like we are heading to the same location, but when i got a glance at his face it was like he was more intrested in my own map than his. So he just followed me around, his emotions were neutral, his behavior were also neutral, he said not even a single word.
While we walked, the route that we took began to get more lonely, then we unfortunately met some unfriendly faces, to the look of things they were bandits.
I stoped and thought to myself maybe i should turn around and take another route since they haven't spotted me yet.
I concluded the decision by accepting to take another route but before i even took a step the boy in the brown kimono held me, his grip were firm and tight, it was almost impossible for me to get out, then i had this feeling maybe he was working with the bandits, i tried to tackle him but he said "For God sake we don't have that much time to go around this place, and plus, if we can't beat these guys up i do not think we can pass the next stage of the exams".
His voice was soft but frightening, but his eyes were the most scariest of all, they looked like they had much bloodlust.
It did not take too much time for them to spot us, they drew out their weapons out.
They were all 4 in number, they look more intrested in the boy in the brown kimono, they blocked us and started talking "Wow, kid your parents got to be loaded with fortune and lots of money, just look at your clothing and is that a katana".
Then they start to talk among themselves "If we get that katana from the kid we could sell it at the black market and we hit the jackpot" and his fellow bandit said "forget about the katana, that boy looks like he is from a noblee's family, if we kidnap him and sell him as a slave we would be rich".
It was an unconfortable atmostphere, then the boy in the brown kimono said "Sorry i don't think kidnaping me would be possible, but you can have my katana".
He drew the katana blade outand threw it straight at them.
The bandits chuckled and said "thanks kid but were scumbags why don't we add you two into our collection". The boy smirked and said to himself "I HATE PEOPLE THAT HATE JUSTICE".
He made a straight cut on his hand, which leed to abnormal bleeding, and said an incantation.
For a second i thought this was a desprate act for survival, But he looked calm and at ease.
Slowly a circle was made below them which was connected to their shadows, then the circle started expanding which stretched their shadow, but they just laughed and thought of it as a show.
Then suddenly the shodows were stretched and then the shadows got disconnected from the bandits body and broke like glass, which made me remember about the fact that every thing has a breaking point, but i never imagined shadows would be involved.
Noting realy happened for some seconds but i could slowly see some changes in their body structure, it was being expanded, then their whole body got torn apart.
Then the boy slowly walked over to the pool if blood and picked his sword up.
He then looked at me and said "Hi my name is Fate, what's yours?".
*I WONDER IF HE IS MY FRIEND OR FOE*
