Chapter 3: This bad feeling...
After my evolution, not much changed. Everything became smaller for me and I could only stay on the ground, but that was it.
Time passed since then and another 10 years passed.
During this time I managed to reach Mid B rank, making me quite strong, compared to a lot of creatures.
Recently I've been hearing some troublesome things. I've always known that our empire is at war with some other country, but I had no interest in it, as I wasn't connected to it. However things are now different.
Apparently the supreme mage emperor from our country, has decided to summon a demon to win the war.
I don't know what the demons are like in this world, but if they're anything like what they were in my old world, then we're fucked. I was one, after all.
The demons I know are in synonym with destruction. They're sneaky, cunning and enjoy taking lives.
So when I heard that the supreme magic emperor Jahil is hellbent on summoning a very powerful demon and making a deal with it. I became vigilant.
As more days flow by, I'm getting more and more of a bad feeling. The aura of death is slowly increasing in this place. I'm thinking of breaking my contract and escaping this place.
Soon the news reaches me, that the supreme mage has summoned a super powerful, red haired demon. This news is the final straw, as I can feel the things aura. My decision to escape becomes final.
I make no efforts to communicate with my summoner. I just slither out the door and move through the city as fast as I can. My huge snake form attracts a bit of attention. But just a bit, since I'm moving so fast.
I quickly reach the city gates and slither through them. Without stopping I continue on my path.
After an hour of traveling, I finally reach a forest and slow down. Now I feel much more at ease. The existencial sense of demise, that was hanging over my neck constantly disappeares. The creature that the wizards summoned is not something to bragain with. I'm not spending a second with a superpowered demon inside the city.
I move deeper into the forest, running into a few monsters on the way. They're low leveled, so I swiftly dispatch them. Thanks to my new unique skill, I also get some skills from the creatures I killed. They're all common skills though.
(Sonic wave)- Allows me to send out a sonic wave from my mouth. (Steel claws)- Makes my claws as hard as steel. Completely useless, since I don't even have limbs. (Steel teeth)- Makes my teeth as hard as steel. (Serrated teeth)- Gives me a mouthful of sharp teeth, in addition to my two long snake fangs. (Camoflage)- Allows me to change my colour as I wish. (Double jump)- Makes a platform of energy below me so that I can double jump. Quite useless as well.

Now to make some sort of home. I slither through the forest and eventually find a big cliff. I climb the wall, in search for a cave for myself and eventually find one.
It's a semi large cave. Around 10 meters wide, 5 meters tall and 40 meters deep. Pretty much the perfect size for me to create a home in.
I comfortably curl myself up in the cave and proceed to close my eyes.
....
A few days pass by. Since I'm alone in the forest now, I'm being much more careful. After all I'm just a mid B ranked monster. There are a lot of beings capable of crushing me. Even though I believe I can take down creatures much stronger than me, I am not delusional.
I've resorted to ambush predation, as that is the safest and easiest. I cast a bait, then wait for the prey to come to me. When it does, I kill it. As simple as this.
Right now I'm doing just that. Waiting for a creature to appear, when suddenly, I feel something nasty in the distance.
I raise my camoflaged head and look towards a certain direction. An overwhelming aura of death is coming from that direction. It's far away, but I can still vicerally feel it.
It seems I'm not the only one who feels that aura of death, as many creatures run away from that direction. It's very likely the handy work of that demon.
While I ponder, I also decide to take advantage of the oppurtunity and pounce at the neck of a bull passing by. I jam my fangs in it's neck and coil my long body around it's.
The bull dies within seconds due to my strong venom. I quickly release it and spot my next prey. A raptor type creature. I slither at insane speeds towards it, launcing a suprise attack. It simply can't react to my speed and just like before, I find myself stuck in it's neck.
I quickly slither back, with it in my mouth and pile it on top of the bull.
Then I get back to hunting. I use the same strategy for an hour. By then the monster tide has passed.
None of the monsters gave me a fight, since thanks to my slither ability, I can move insanely fast. Additionally my combat skill is worlds apart from anything in this forest.
I return to the pile of monsters and start swallowing them one after the other. Feeling myself get stronger with each one. It's small, but still an increase. Thanks to my unique skill, I also get an ability from each one I eat. If I keep this up, I'm going to have too many abilities.
After my feast, I return to my cave and coil up comfortably. I look over the skills I gained, then close my eyes and go to sleep.
....
....
A few days later, I feel another ominous feeling coming from somewhere. It's a different feeling from before and it's coming from a different direction as well.
Now it's coming from the direction of the super magic empire. The city I ran away from.
If before I felt death, now it feels more like malice and evil. I have a very intimate relationship with being evil, so it's easy to recognize. Like attracts like and all that.
Already anticipating some survivors escaping this way, I lay out some preperations to welcome them. How am I going to welcome them you ask? Of course with my teeth, haha.
After a day of waiting, I finally sense someone arrive. It's a group of people. Humans are a bit more shady, in a sense that I can't gauge their strength with magic sense, like I did with unintelligent monsters. They use holy magic and stuff as well, so you never know. Still that doesn't mean I won't attack them.
I carefully position myself and wait for them to get closer. The positive thing about hunting humans is that their senses are worse than animals or monsters. There is a big difference between someone born in the jungle and someone born in the city.
The clueless humans approach me, while talking between themselves. With my heatvision I see them like beacons on a dark night.
As soon as they reach over a certain line, I spray them with venom breath. This acts as a sort of smoke screen as well. Incredibly useful.
Next I spring myself at the human the farthest from the group and chomp at his head. His head comes off easily and I swallow it. Immediately getting in position to pounce again.
Once again I spring myself at the grpup. This time they react, but poorly. I target the one with a staff in his hand and similarly bite her head off.
The next three go down easily. I swipe at their legs with my tail, tripping them over. Then I breathe fire at them, making them panic even more, as they scream in pain. I patiently wait for my venom and fire to render them defenceless, then finish them off quickly and eat them.
Such taste! For some reason they taste much better than the monsters. Their blood is especially tasty!
I salvage some of their equipment and bring it all to my lair. Then I go back to the front line and wait. Once more people arrive, I hunt them down as well.
I told myself that in this life I'm going to be different, but a little human hunting is still acceptable, isn't it? Hah!
