Chapter 26: Beyond Mere Titles
Shortly after Ai had disappeared in a rushed a hurried manner, Shuyun saw no other choice but to enter the room.
In all actuality, he did not know what to think of this current situation. It was still dawning on him about this new world, everything completely different from what he was used to. Although he couldn't say he felt a sense of loss for the old world, being dropped into a place completely unknown to him with no connections, even if it was the minicule ones with his family, developed a sense of loss. Though, what stopped this feeling from overwhelming him was naturally Meiyings introduction to his life. While the time he spent with her was minimal, considering the circumstances in which they met upon, he could be said to be the only friend she had, and, given his transmigration, could be said to be the only friend he had as well.
As for Ai, he felt that he could be great friends with her in the future. And, having been accustomed to reading people from his previous life's job, could tell she too had a problem interacting with people. Her true personality, though, was an enigma, as even if he could somewhat outline her traits, she was still a colorless canvas with only the outlines marked in black.
And, it seemed he may have another acquaintance, the Queen. He wasn't all too confident with this one, but after having weighed the situation concerning Meiying's name, he felt that she may view him in a favourable light. While he may be new to all this 'qi' stuff, he wasn't stupid enough to completely disregard the obvious significance of what a name to an elf was, though he assumed it only applied to royal elfs as Ai had a name at a similar age as Meiying.
Still, he found it strange that the Queen seemingly had no name. As he found himself oblivious to the culture and tradition of another race known as elfs, he knew applying human concepts would get him nowhere. But, it couldn't help but make him wonder.
'If the queen truly doesn't have a name, it must be by choice, as really, anyone could name themselfs, just as I had named Meiying'
But on the contrary, he found the Queens disbelief also possibly attributed to the fact that this was not the case, but rather, the opposite, in which she could not name herself. As he didn't know all the intricacies over this topic, he could only throw wild guesses as to why. The last thing he wanted to do was offend her, as he knew from history lessons back in his first life that rulers of monarchies that the Elfin Realm seemed to be ruled upon always had a strong sense of pride. And for a normal, unknown human like him to be granted grace itself to name a being of such standing, it seemed similar to a slave claiming rights to their master.
So, he decided to play it safe. The last thing he wanted to do was burn the only bridges he had in this world. He had struck gold with the situation he was in, and was not up to ruining it so early on.
Aside from that, Shuyun refocused his attention to the room before him.
'Such... luxury'
He could help but compare the room before him that had features and presentation unlike any 5-star hotel he had ever seen. Though he was expecting something of such considering the interior of the palace, even his high expectation couldn't do this room justice.
A bed, double sized to that of a king-sized from earth, sat pretty in the middle of the extravagant room. Beautiful fur curtains hung from the 2 story tall windows. Golden stripes danced in the solid marble floors that formed a diamond shape under the shining grand chandler as the centerpiece of the room.
Shuyun couldn't help but jump onto the bed. Firmly sinking in, he couldn't help but envision that the feeling of resting on clouds was not much different than what he was feeling currently. It seems that this new world had more than just power and other races. He couldn't think of any material back at earth that would be able to even produce such a feeling.
This heavenly sensation only made him relax, closing his eyes as he fell into deep sleep from exhaustion.
