Chapter 7: Alex's aide

"Cheiftian, Elder James request an audience", a guard reports to Rhyss who was once again gazing at his wife picture.

"Let him in", his voice echoed.

"Yes cheiftian", the guard said and left.

After that, the door opened as James walked in,"cheiftian how was your day?", He greeted while he stood at the front of the hall staring at Rhyss who wore he's usual black outfit, with a solemn face as he unconsciously released an unusual Aura around him that felt like burning James skin even from the distance.

It was a quasi-domain, possessed by warriors from the peak level.

It can be sensed by warriors of high levels like him and the other elders, but Rhyss was just releasing a tiny fraction of his domain's real power.

The cheiftian kept on gazing without replying to his greetings.

"What are you here for, konx",rhyss voice reverberated in the hall.

James breathed deeply and sighed inwardly,' he knew meeting the chieftain staring at that picture was bad luck, other Elders had also complained, they also proposed for the mural to be removed only to be meet with the cheiftian's angry gaze.

Which to be honest scared them a little as the cheiftian rarely gets angry.

"To talk about something very important cheiftian", James replied.

"And what is that?", Rhyss asked nonchalantly.

"My son Asher, he didn't awaken a phantom b.. bu... but", James stuttered to say the last word.

"But what Knox", Rhyss said this time turning around to face James with raised brows.

"He awakened an elemental force rune, one of ice element", James said with a wry smile.

Rhyss stared at James with deep intensity and he slowly said,"he was among the two thousand in this city, he was bathed in the silver River, he did not awaken his totem but a rune force, which should be impossible especially when he awakened with the ellcrys as his connection, so is he a pure blood?".

"He is, cheiftian, he was checked when just a month old", James replied with anxiety as he did not expect to be led by the cheiftian in this conversation

As he thought of what to say to turn things around, his thoughts were smashed by what the cheiftian said next.

"As a legitimate pure blood, he is to be executed at first light for wasting an important position of the ellcrys by..", Rhyss stopped and he stared at James who was still in shock at his verdict while he slowly said,"drowning, in the very same River he awakened".

James body waved as he stared at the indifferent rhyss.

Thud!, a loud sound echoed as James dropped to his knees and pleaded.

"Cheiftian please, have mercy he's just a kid, we can groom him to be different than the other rune elementals".

Rhyss was shocked to see James on his knees, but even still he said.

"No!, now leave",he added as he called the guards.

"Rhyss!", James shouted leaving all decorum" I beg of you, please don't do this, I... I can take him away, far from here", he begged.

Seeing that Rhyss won't budge he shouted,"you owe me Rhyss, you owe me!, I helped you at the Vale to save your wife just forgive this once, please".

"But she still died", Rhyss said with a deep voice.

"You don't know that ,you couldn't enter that land with just peak level, your death was guaranteed", James said in defiance.

Rhyss still didn't nullify his verdict as he just stared at James with a frown on his face for his wife was brought into the topic.

James was falling into despair as sorrow overwhelmed him, he should have listened to his wife and ran when they had the chance. heh!, Who was he kidding they won't be able to escape.

While he was drowning in helplessness, he saw a small figure at the back of the other door who opened it slightly to see what was going on.

He's eyes widened and he muttered,"Alex ... yes, yes!, Alex!", he faced Rhyss and shouted,"I will give asher to Alex as his aide, he could help your boy greatly during his reign as cheiftian",James proposed, he knew talking about a successor when the chieftain is alive and well could very well be his end, but he said anything that came to his mind as he was trying to change rhyss mind and he knew that rhyss loved Alex and like a charm.

"Wait!", Rhyss ordered the guards to stop, he stared at James

"An aide you say".

Alex face was illuminated by the sunlight, he looked through the window admiring the town's beautiful view.

The rowdy market filled with all sorts of activities, the tall light towers, the always busy east zone for the mystics like the; mystic Craftsmans, mystic blacksmiths and some other important occupations like the runesmith and many others that he didn't know yet.

And finally the beautiful purebloods residence, styled with blue roofs and white walls to match his Manor that was made with white marbles and engraved with runes to withstand an attack from a peak level warrior.

Asher stood behind Alex, he had started his work as an aide for two days and he could say that Alex had not either insulted him or looked down on him, so he was quite happy.

"Asher let's go and train", Alex said to him.

At the field, Alex stood in a fighting posture shirtless he gripped a great wooden sword with both hands across his chest facing Asher who wore a full blue training outfit and gripped a long wooden spear as the runes on his body lit up as he's eyes turned blue, waving his spear left an afterimage of icy blue .

Alex ran towards Asher at an incredible speed, he slashed his sword upwards with a fast speed, Asher doged and directed his spear towards Alex armpits.

Alex removed one hand from his sword to avoid Asher's strike, which Asher took to as his advantage and he twisted his waist, landed a solid hit on Alex left shin slightly freezing it.

he leaped back to gain breathing space, Alex squinted and leaned forwards with his sword tip touching the ground.

"You have lost a leg, so it's my win", Asher said with a smile while he got ready for another bout.

Alex stomped on the ground and burst into high speed at the same time he activated his phantom and it immediately merged with him, his muscles increased as both his physical power, speed, hearing and eyesight increased explosively, he immediately arrived before Asher landed a soft hit at his jaws with his left leg and pointed his sword towards Asher who was on the ground dazed.

"I won", Alex said triumphantly while he stretched his arm to help Asher up.

"Let me join, I have yet to test my new ability", said Derek who just arrived wearing a brown sleeveless top and a brown trousers with thick brown boots .

"Okay, come", said Asher who wanted to fight against someone easier.

Derek opened a special box and four daggers flew out revolving around him as his eyes flashed with silver light.

Asher picked up a silver spear from the weapon rack as things were getting more serious, he closed his eyes and opened them, they glowed with intense blue and ice began to appear on the ground around him Asher gave a sharp chilling arua.

But Derek was not to be out done as his daggers began to move at a high speed and his phantom began to appear at his back.

"Your phantom is a female!", Alex shouted in shock.

"Yeah, she's also fun to talk to",Derek said with joy and pride.

Asher was also shocked and envious because, female phantoms are rare, they are more communicative and have mild characters than the brute male phantoms that hardly speaks.

WHOOSH!!, The air tore as two daggers sped towards Asher, who rushed towards Derek he froze the ground and slided on his knees while the blades swooshed passed his face, still on his knees he pointed his spear at Derek's neck and smiled victoriously, Derek was indeed an easier opponent.

"You need to train more, you could have won that bout if you had mastered ur telekinesis", Alex said to Derek

"Apparently he wasted his time making his beloved daggers", said Asher bluntly.
