Chapter 3: The Head of the Chen Clan
Standing in front of the mirror, Chen Ge was surprised, his appearance had not changed at all. Just like in his previous life, he had long black hair and violet eyes, he was a little thin due to the lack of exercise, but it was all quite acceptable.
He could be described as a handsome young man, but useless as a cultivator.
Looking at the festively decorated room and the wedding suit, he sighed slightly and put on his usual black clothes. He didn't care about the wedding and wanted to find his father as soon as possible to stop this ridiculousness.
"Hey, look, it's Chen Ge! The scum who's marrying Liang Si Yao! Heaven is unfair…"
"Why did the Liang clan agree to this? What is Liang Si Yao thinking?"
"Look at his clothes! Does that mean the Liang Clan has changed their mind?"
"It's possible! To marry such a scum would be too embarrassing…"
On the way to his father's courtyard, Chen Ge could clearly hear the whispers of the clan members, their taunts and curses, they didn't even seem to try to hide, speaking loudly and openly.
Chen Ge perfectly understood why they were doing this, the envy of his position as well as his marriage to their goddess completely made them despair in injustice.
"Hey, Chen Ge, has Liang Si Yao changed her mind? Why aren't you wearing a wedding suit?"
One of the clan members blocked Chen Ge's path, which attracted the attention of many people in the clan. You could tell from his antics that he was clearly not afraid of the clan patriarch.
"Go away!" - Chen Ge spat out a single word and walked around this man.
Listening to their scornful taunts was above the current Chen Ge, bypassing the disciple, he continued to the courtyard without even turning back and sparing the man a glance.
But he didn't know that he had stunned the crowd of people, who were watching the event with fervent curiosity, with his behavior. All the clan members knew Chen Ge as a weak, fearful man, but now his arrogance was a complete turnaround of his usual, fearful character.
Since when did this weakling start acting so insolent? Many people had the same thought on their mind.
"Chen Ge! What did you just say!?" - After a little shock, the young man came to his senses and shouted angrily.
But, he didn't hear anything back. Chen Ge continued to lead the way to his father's courtyard, seemingly not noticing the young man's shouting, he acted as if he didn't exist at all.
"Bastard!" - yelled the man in indignation.
Looking at how Chen Ge didn't pay attention to his words, as if he was nothing, anger boiled up in the young man and he rushed after him.
His mind seemed to be completely clouded, because instead of yelling at Chen Ge, he swung his fist and tried to hit him right in the head.
But, when his fist was about to connect with the back of the victim's head, he suddenly froze and backed up.
Completely bewildered, he didn't even notice when Chen Ge turned around, but when he looked into his eyes, it was as if he fell into an icy abyss. It seemed to him that if he even took one more step he would walk right into his death.
Without a moment's hesitation, the young man's knees buckled and he collapsed.
"Hm, idiot…" - Chen Ge snorted contemptuously and carried on, while the crowd looked silently, amazed by the turn of the events.

"Oh, you finally got up." - In a gentle voice, Chen Xiao said as he noticed Chen Ge enter the room. Seeing that he no longer looked like a sick person, he calmed down a little.
"It's good that you're awake, today is your wedding day and we shouldn't make a single mistake. How are you feeling now?" - Chen Xiao asked worriedly.
"I'm fine, it was just an overexertion." - Chen Ge answered.
As he entered the room, he saw two people, a young girl and a middle-aged man. Thanks to his new memories he had no problem identifying the pair. They were his sister and his father.
Chen Yanran, whom he had already met in his room earlier, was his sister's name. She was a year younger than Chen Ge and had turned fifteen this year, but despite her young age, she already possessed not only a beautiful appearance but had reached the ninth step of Initial Ascension(1).
She was as much of a cultivation genius as Liang Si Yao, the clan had high hopes for her in the future.
As for the man, Chen Xiao, he saw him for the first time, with the exception of his new memories of course. On his way to the courtyard, Chen Ge wondered what his father would look like but when he saw him he was stunned.
At the table sat a man who looked about forty years old. His face was quite pale and even an average person would be able to tell that something was wrong with him. His body appeared to be in good shape; you could easily tell that he had not neglected physical training.
All of this was nothing, considering that this man was his father and the head of the Chen clan. From a short conversation with him, Chen Ge could already tell that he not only had incredible charisma but also a firm character.
From scraps of memories, Chen Xiao was the strongest person in both the clan and among the practitioners of the Shentou City, he was at the sixth stage of the Earthly Ascension(3), which was quite daunting for such a backwater place.
But, what surprised Chen Ge the most was not his father's strength, but his appearance. The man looked a lot like him, he could safely say that if Chen Xiao was younger they would be like two peas in a pod.
It was very strange considering that Chen Ge had retained the appearance of his past life.
"Chen Ge, why aren't you wearing your wedding suit?" - Suddenly, Chen Xiao spoke up.
The wedding was an hour away, and it was rather strange that Chen Ge wasn't prepared yet.
"Actually, I'm here on important business…" - Chen Ge hesitated. Realizing that his father was in favor of this marriage, he hesitated a bit but remembering his past life and the fact that he was now completely powerless, his gaze became resolute again.
Geniuses have always attracted a lot of trouble and to marry a girl he wasn't in love with would be foolish of him.
"Father, I want to stop the wedding. Me and Liang Si Yao are completely different. We are not right for each other and marrying her would be a big mistake. I know that she is not in love with me and is only getting married because of the resources of our sect so I strongly oppose the wedding."
After his words, there was a long silence in the room.
After listening to Chen Ge, Chen Xiao frowned, but did not say a word, as if thinking about something. Chen Ge's strange behavior puzzled him, only after a short time, he suddenly smiled.
"You finally figured it out."
