Chapter 30: What?
"Merry!" Max called out Merry when she was sitting on the chair at the terrace with priest's wife -Rema- who was a middle age lady.
"Huh? Yes! " Merry glanced up to look at him in confusion.Max approached towards them.
Max greeted Mrs Rema with a bow formally.Mrs Rema greeted back with a smile and excused herself and left them alone.
"Would you like to come along with me?" Max asked straightly.
"Huh? Wh-Where? " Merry asked hesitantly.
"I am going towards the forest..So, I thought you might like to come along." Max said .
"Y-Yes, I would love to!" Merry excitedly agreed.
"Then, let's go!" Max held Merry's hand and started to lead .
"W-Wait!" Merry exclaimed.
"What happened?" Max asked confusedly
" like this? W-Wouldn't.." Merry thought the dress would be inappropriate to ride a horse.
"It's perfect...and we are going together on one horse anyways." Max told.
Max walked towards the horse and helped Merry adjust her self properly on the horseback.Then, he climbed and sat behind her.
Merry did not think that they were going all alone, she thought that they might be going again with some people.
For her, it was the first time,they got to travel together just by themselves.
Just when they were about to leave, Robert approached obediently like a curious child who saw their parents leaving.
"Where are you going Commander?!" Robert asked curiously.
"We will return soon, so don't do and let anything stupid happen, okay?" Max said with sigh.
"Yes sir! But.. won't you need any protection?I can come too." Robert offered worriedly.
"No Robert, I'm not going for war.Take care of the rest." Max added.
"Absolutely!" Robert nodded his head.
"Take care of yourself mylady." Robert added with worries in his eyes.
"Oh! I w-will, you too." Merry was getting shocks day by day because of these dangerous knights tender behaviour towards her.
"I am going too..Robert." Max affirmed and left without wasting much of his time.
Before leaving the main gate,Max noticed and glanced someone peeking up at them from far, it was none other than Calvin , who was looking at them curiously from his room's window and smirked slightly.
Max tried not to pay much attention to him , but something clicked in his mind that Calvin
was being too obvious for him to get caught what he was up to; but Max could not tell what was in that man's mind.
They reached in middle of the forest where there was a lake which was surrounded by many common Redpolls.
"Oh G-Goodness! It l-looks so lovely here." Merry exclaimed with surprise.The scenery was heavenly and complemented with chill winds.
"huh..I didn't expect that this lake would still be thaw in such a sharp weather." Max said while taking deep breaths.
"Ha-Have you c-come here before?" Merry asked while rubbing her nose which got red due to cold.
"I guess...when I was around five years old..I came here with my Grandfather..when..." Max told with low tone.
Merry grasp that he was not willing to talk about his experiences especially about his family.
"C-Can we get closer to lake?" Merry asked to change the topic.
" Ofcourse." Max stood the horse near trees and jumped off the horse.
"Hold my arm." Max clasp Merry's waist with both of his hands and lifted her weight effortlessly like she was a feather.
Merry held his shoulders with both hands tightly.

They sat near the lake while Merry was looking at the birds with lot of interests.
Max tilted his head to look at her eyes which were chasing the birds movements.
Without realising, he was smiling sweetly.
"You must be cold, your nose has became a cherry." Max said as he stroked Merry's nose in a cute way. Merry couldn't control and suddenly sneezed her lungs out.
"Ha ha ha ...You are really adorable." Max laughed at her action.
"I'm S-Sorry.." Merry felt embarrassed and tried to avoid eye contact.
"Here." Max got up and placed his blazer on her back and wrapped her up like a child.
"Y-You will catch a cold. I'm fine.." Merry tried to his coat back.
"Keep it. I'm not gonna catch cold." Max told.
"You are h-human too.." Merry said with low pitch.
"Maybe.." Max added.
"I see..you are more interested in the birds than me." Max said while getting closer to see her into her eyes.
"What?" Merry looked into his eyes with poker face.
But all of a sudden, Max noticed something unrealistic , Merry's eyes colour was changing from green colour to dark blue colour which was exactly same colour as his eyes.
"Your..your eyes are.." Max got surprised and suddenly clasped Merry's face and caressed her cheeks worriedly.
"Wh-What h-happened to them?" Merry asked with puzzled look.
Just then, Max saw her eyes were getting back to her normal eye colour.Max looked all this happening with wide opened eyes.
He could guarantee that her iris colour changed to his.Max did not want to worry Merry more,so, he took a deep breath and again stared at her.
"W-What happened Max?" Merry emphasized to know what happened.
"I just sensed that your...eyes colour...changed into mine.." Max told her with confused voice but he had a serious look.
"A-Are they still u-unchanged?" Merry asked cautiously while holding his hand which was on her face with her hand.
"No dear.."Max told her with warm eyes.
"Ac-actually..." Merry started to say something.
"Hmm..Yes? " Max asked.
But Merry was uncertain if Max knew about her unnatural abilities or not.She was herself unassured how did her magic aura was able to affect her outside her body.Merry knew that she was born with some magic abilities as her grandmother but she never tried to use them. But all of a sudden, she was not sure if that happened due to this or something else.
"Come here." Max opened his arms to offer her a hug.
"huh?" Merry tilted her head on confusion but accepted his offer without any delay.
"It's cold..so we can stay like this...we should head back soon I guess..." Max said while wrapping his arms around her and established her on his lap to provide her warmth.
Merry was feeling embarrassed but she felt really cosy around his embrace in such weather.
"You are really a treasure...you surprise me every second my wife." Max said with a little smile and nuzzled on her hair gently.
"Y-You are too Max." Merry affirmed and lifted her face to look at him.
Max could feel his heart raise.Her sight was enough for him to feel this way.
"I may look greedy, but can I get my reward now?" Max asked her.Merry suddenly realised what he meant.
"Oh! y-yes surely." Merry agreed.
"Wh-What is it that y-you want?" Merry asked curiously.
"A kiss from you." Max told her without any hesitation.Merry blinked multiple times in disbelief of his stubbornness.He was keeping it this long to ask her for a kiss.
"R-Right now?!" Merry asked embarrassedly.
Max nodded with a look of content.
Merry couldn't help but grant him such a cherishable wish.She placed her one hand on his shoulder and closed her eyes before placing her lips on his.They could the warmthness.
Max could not control and to Merry's surprise ,Max for the first time used his tongue unknowingly. Merry whimpered in surprise and felt her blood running cold when she felt that their lips and tongues were in between them like there was no tomorrow.
They could feel the intensity.
"mmmh.. M-Max.." Merry tried to gasp for air.
Max broke the kiss as he sensed her lacking air.
Their faces were all red with the embarrassment and the intense kiss. Max himself was ashamed by his uncontrollable condition right then.
Merry was speechless,she had no idea what was supposed to be a reward became something unpredictable.It was the first time for them to have such an intense kiss.
