Chapter 2: TEOT 2

Adrian's POV

The day worsened by every second. I sat back in my car, waiting for blondie to return. Probably thinking about the situation on ground. The thought of having a child with someone other than Zoey gave me goosebumps.

I couldn't figure out a way to get myself out of this mess.

It was never my intention to hurt Zoey. She'd get mad when she hears of it. She had been patient enough to wait for me through these past years. She helped me get over my past, and I felt like a bad person, going to repay her with such news.

She didn't deserve any of this.

A loud ring from my phone disrupted my thoughts. I stared at my screen, the caller id displayed her name. No matter how angry I was, I had never ignored her calls, but this time, I was pushed to do so. I was mad at myself because I felt I was betraying her.

I couldn't imagine myself facing her if everything turned out true.

My phone had buzzed up a million time in less than ten minutes. There was nothing I could explain to her at this point, I'd be worsening matters. And I wasn't in the state to handle both situations simultaneously, so I switched off my phone.

Peering through the glass window, I saw them coming from a distance; blondie and a little school girl. Supposedly, our–

What the heck! Her daughter.

I corrected myself after realizing I was accepting her words already. Moreover, the reports could still prove her wrong. Hopefully! I sighed.

Counting to ten, mother and daughter finally reached.

"Hi." I managed to say when they got into the car. This time, blondie sat with the little girl at the backseat.

She ignored me, and turned to face her mother, which made me wish I never spoke to her at the first place.

Briefly, I scrutinized her body features closely in comparison. My eyes caught a pair of dark blue eyes, just like mine. Her nose was sculptured like mine, exactly. I hated to admit that she was my replica, except her hair color; mini blondie.

But who cares? After all, lookalikes exist.

"Mom, where is this man taking us?" she asked in a loud tone, giving me a wild stare.

My brows scrunched up at her question.

Blondie smiled, "You'll know soon, Stacey. Just relax your mind."

I needed someone to repeat her last statement to me. I needed someone to hug me, and tell me everything would be fine. Zoey had been my only motivation, her words were always full of encouragement. Frankly, I couldn't imagine a life without her by my side.

What scared me more was the fucking confidence blondie possessed. I loved confident ladies, but hers was too much to handle. She was overconfident which sent chills to my bone.

They chatted mostly about schoolwork while I drove on. I was lost in my thoughts, so I didn't comprehend anything they said. I ensured a safe ride, and pulled over at the hospital car park.

Everyone got down, leaving behind only Stacey's backpack in the car. I found it funny how I memorized her name so quick. I inhaled deeply; the fresh breeze filling my lungs, then exhaled hard. I always did that to calm my nerves, but it wasn't helping currently.
