Chapter 22: Merlin's Underpants!

At this time, the castle shook like an earthquake.

While the royals talked, Albus absentmindedly went to Ciri's room. He could cast spells using Chaos, but most of his spells didn't work. Shapeshifting in particular wasn't working at full capacity and he couldn't use his full power without his wand. Normally he could create a castle of stone while shapeshifting.

'Normally' it took him a few minutes to recreate the statues at Hogwarts, now he had to spend days on the same details. As far as he could tell, this was because of the magic called 'chaos' in this world. It is more unstable and powerful than his world. More ancient magic. Albus had only felt this magic once.

There are special artifacts in the wizarding world that very few people know about. Some of them are well known, like the 'Key of Solomon', and the 'Thunderbolt of Zeus'. Some are known by very different names, such as 'Merlin's Diary', which has many different names. Merlin's possessions have a separate rune. Albus himself confirmed this. While researching the diary he even went to a place called the end of the world and the beginning of the world. It looked like a farmhouse, and in front of it, on a stone tablet, was written a single word.

"Don't walk through this door unless you think you've got me. This will attract unwanted attention. If you think you have me, open the door by reading my name. After you open the door, whether you are competent or incompetent, I think we will meet again either way. Best regards from the beginning and end of magic.

Myrddin Wynn Emrys."

This was Albus' reaction to seeing the same surname in this world. Merlin's Beard. What were the odds? Albus felt his old head spinning again.

He knew why Nashi hadn't given him a wand, but something like a wooden stick instead, but he still didn't think it made sense. At least he doesn't think they should have gone to all this trouble.

Albus opened the door without realizing he had come into the room and just stood in the doorway. There were two masked people in the room. They were walking towards the baby in the cradle when they heard the door open and turned their heads.

Albus tapped his wand furiously on the floor and the tiles on the floor pulled the men down completely. They were buried up to their noses. Albus walked quickly to the cradle and saw that the baby was asleep. He took the baby in one hand and began to rock it.

He whispered a few words around the baby and a bubble area formed around the baby. He then laid the baby back in the crib.

Albus scanned the men with magic and found empty, broken, small glass tubes on them.

Two of them had already committed suicide outright. Worried about the baby, he had forgotten to check on the men. Realizing their motives made Albus even angrier. He was about to speak when he saw Duny and Pavetta in the doorway and the portal opened in the room for just a second and closed as he tried to pull the vials through.

This was enough time for Albus to vent his anger. Time did not prevent him from casting two spells from his hand and his club.

One went through the portal and the other hit the wall behind it, turning it to dust.

The castle shook completely and everyone, including the soldiers, began to gather in the room.

When the Queen, the King, and the Wizard arrived, there were two assassin-like figures dead on the floor. One wall was completely missing. In the center, the tall old wizard looked angry. A few people started whispering.

Albus, angry, struck his wand on the floor.

Albus: "Silence! I want an explanation as to why there are no guards around the room and no one in the room except the missing caretaker! I want it now!"

The soldiers began to sweat at the power radiating from the wizard.

Eist: "Mr. Dumbldore, we will ignore your tone because you are angry right now. I assure you that we will investigate this situation and find whoever laid hands on my granddaughter. Together with those responsible."

Calanthe looked furious too.

Dumbledore looked at Eist and Calanthe over his glasses with angry eyes.

Albus: "You still don't seem to understand something. Dear King and Queen, if the person who adopts your grandchild hears about this, it won't be me or the Brotherhood. Unimaginable things will come after me and you. We don't want to upset a quiet devil living on Earth. What in Merlin's underpants do you think!"

Albus looked around the room as he walked out the door.

Albus flicked his wand and disappeared down the corridor.

In the room, Calanthe was extremely angry, both about what had happened to her grandson and about being threatened.

Mousesack: "My Queen, don't focus your anger now on what the Wizard says, but on the people behind this. We don't know what their target is, but if they made it this far, there is a good chance there is a traitor in the castle. Especially with a missing caretaker."

Everyone gathered around Ciri. Ciri was still sleeping soundly. She was smiling at the same time.

It was the night of the same day. There was a simple bed, a round table, and four chairs in the room. Albus was sitting in one of the chairs. He was writing a book with an ink brush in his hand. There was a knock on his door.

Albus: "You may come in."

Albus looked up from his book and looked at the person coming. Mousebag. The Druid wizard of the palace.

Albus: "You may sit down."

Mousesack sat down in the chair opposite Albus.

Mousesack: "I see you're not idle here, is this what it means to be the greatest wizard who ever lived?"

Albus still had that smile on his face that he always had. He started talking as he continued writing.

Albus: "The greatest wizard who ever lived is certainly a nice compliment for this world, but it is sadly inaccurate."

Mousesack: "Come on, I've met a lot of wizards, from this continent or another. I've never seen one as powerful as you, not just your power, but the way you use Chaos."

Albus took a chocolate frog out of his pocket.

Albus: "This is my special request and favorite of the young leader, try it."

Albus popped one in his mouth and gave the others to Mousesack.

Albus: "There is so much we do not know about the world. We don't even know about the most powerful people living on the continent, let alone those outside it. I'm just an old man who's been assigned to look after the children. Will you finally tell me why you're here?"

Mousesack looked left and right and whispered.

Mousesack: "Mr. Dumbldore, would you mind not telling us what happened today? Give us a week and we will find out who is behind it."

Dumbledore: "Is that your word or the King and Queen's?"

The Mousesack remained silent. Albus put down his quill and turned his deep blue eyes to Mousesack.

Albus: "I don't need to tell him, he will hear about it soon enough. Even if he gave you years, not weeks, I don't think you could find the person behind this. I think what you should be thinking about is how to calm the Lord down. No matter how friendly and warm he seems, no matter how much he calls us his brothers and sisters, Ciri is probably the person he cares about most in this world."

Mousesack sighed and leaned back.

Mousesack: "At least tell us why you care so much about Ciri."

Albus smiled broadly.

Albus: "No one knows this except him, but he calls her his daughter all the time. That's why I accepted this mission. How can anyone soften a man like that, even when he's just a baby."

Mousesack couldn't think of anything else to say and Albus continued writing.

Mousesack stood up and bowed slightly.

Mousesack: "Thank you, Mr. Dumbledore, for the information and your trouble."

Albus: "Not at all, it's all trivial anyway. By the way, have you ever heard the term 'omerta'?"

Mousesack looked at Albus before leaving the room.

Mousesack: "No, I have never heard that expression."

Albus continued writing and his smile grew wider.

Albus: "It was a book written by a commoner, and it derives from the word 'Man' in another language, which means 'Manliness'. It was also a rule of those who committed crimes. Almost and perhaps the most important rule was called 'Omerta'. One of them is very rare these days."

Albus stopped writing and looked at Mousesack. The smile was gone from his face.

Albus: "The law of silence. "See nothing, hear nothing, know nothing, speak nothing." The penalty is just as meaningful. A law whose penalty for non-compliance is death for himself and all members of his family. It was the first book the person with the Lord recommended to me."

Albus smiled again and went back to writing.

Albus: "It seems to me a harsh law, and at the same time very unmerciful. It's interesting to note that there's some of that in the book, and a very important character there has a very different opinion. He thinks that mercy can only belong to God. I still haven't met a god."

Mousesack looked seriously at the old man writing the book. He understood that someone of his age was a bit of a recluse. He bowed again and left the room.

omerta" is a book by mario puza, who is also the author of godfather. if you haven't read it, I recommend it.
