Chapter 34: Chapter 33

As Kelly continued to fire, the rest of the colony was on high alert.

Jacob had moved back to the storage facility. Upset, he could not assist the colony in defense. He wanted to change this. But before he could, he needed to get through tonight. So, he shook his head at the negative thoughts and continued running towards the storage facility. Tomorrow he would figure out his way forward as a leader, he said to himself.

***

The guards on the walls kept a tight grip on their rifles. Sweat beaded on their skin as they readied for combat. Floodlights were set up near the forest and radiated an incredible brightness, illuminating the entire area. As well as a couple dozen meters into the forest.

Many more guards were running along the wall in their direction from the walls facing the mountains. Some guards continued running towards the coast, as one group of swiftstalkers was heading in that direction.

***

Back on top of the storage facility, Kelly was in the middle of killing the charging group of swiftstalkers. Having eradicated most of the third group.

"Time to say goodnight!"

Kelly aimed straight at the alpha, lining up her holo. She took a breath and pulled the trigger. And immediately pulled it again. Firing two shots.

Before it could dodge, two bullets hit the alpha, one in the throat and the other on the side of its face. Causing a large burst of red, the first bullet forcing the beast's face up as it took the second bullet moments after. Kelly intended for this to happen.

"RARRggll…" the beast roared as its fluids filled up its airways. Slowly, it fell down and stopped its movements.

The alpha was dead.

Only 5 more remained of the pack it led. Their movements became more frantic and less organized. Some splitting from the pack slightly and moving differently.

"I haven't forgotten about you guys!" Kelly smiled as she pulled the trigger. The targets were so close and confused, she had no problem hitting them.

She quickly picked each one off. They had become confused losing their leader.

"Well, I wish I got them sooner… I really need to work on my aim!" she said with a smile as she stared at the dead swiftstalkers through the holo.

***

"Everyone Fire your weapons once the maps tell you they are within 200 meters." Adewale said through his AI. He was propped on the roof of an apartment building. Aiming his sniper rifle. Using the holo just like Kelly.

He fired at the group of swiftstalkers.

The guards also fired at the forest line, using their AI mini maps to aim in a general direction. Any hit counted and they could t be accurate during this phase of the fight. Adewales' goal was to spray and pray.

"Kill those bastards! Fire!" one guard yelled as he pulled the trigger. Aiming where the AI asked him to.

Had there not been so many floodlights, the wall would have been lit up like fireworks as all the guns flashed with their shots.

BANG BANG BANG

The guards could see some swiftstalkers' dots disappearing on their mini map. Showing they were no longer alive, according to the AI.

"Yeah! We got this!" another guard shouted.

Adewale was behind them and aiming his sniper. Looking for the Alpha kill.

"We need to kill the alpha. Make sure my shots focus on that!" Adewale said to his AI.

"Yes, Sir." It responded as the holo changed direction in tandem with the movement of the Alpha.

BANG

Adewale fired a shot. It missed and hit a floodlight behind the swiftstalkers who had passed the treeline. Causing a large amount of sparks to fly from the cables as they were ripped apart. The light went out immediately.

He fired again,

BANG

This one missed as well, but it hit the swiftstalker in front of the Alpha. Causing its head to explode as well as a good foot into its back. The gun Adewale was using was much more powerful than the rifles the guards were using.

As he looked down the scope, he swore he could see the Alpha glaring at him. He felt the bloodlust coming off the beast.

Adewale took a deep breath and fired again. Now many of the swiftstalkers were falling in the front of the pack thanks to the guard's shots. Giving him more openings to hit the alpha, which had also taken a few hits to its chest front. However, because of its size it was not bothered too much by them.

BANG

"ROAR!"

This one hit the mark! As the bullet hit the alpha's front leg, it blasted it right off. Leaving a gushing wound, which caused the alpha to fall forward because of its weight and momentum.

It crashed into a tree that was cut down. Causing huge amounts of splinters to fly up in the air.

Adewale continued to fire his rifle in the spot the AI said the alpha was currently crashed. Ensuring it was down for the count and not letting it use the dust to get moving again.

BANG

After the fifth shot he made at the dust, the other swiftstalkers suddenly moved differently. Becoming less of a group and acting more as individuals.

They began to fall apart after that. The large amount of armor-piercing rounds destroying their bodies. Many of the guards did not stop firing even after their targets were dead, in shock because of this being their first battle.

The swiftstalkers here wouldn't even make it 50 meters from the wall.

***

Down closer to the beach, the wall was also full of activity. Many guards moving into position to meet the group of swiftstalkers expected to arrive any moment. There was less here because the other group of swiftstalkers was taking up more guards in the middle. They couldn't get people to this part of the wall in time once they knew the arrival points of the invading swiftstalkers.

"250 Meters" Their AI would count down the distance.

"220 Meters,"

"200 Meters, Fire now using AI holo's for guidance." The AIs suddenly said.

The wall lit up with flashes of light as the guards fired at the incoming group. Still unable to see them directly, simply hoping their bullets would land.

BANG BANG BANG

Loud sounds could be heard from the camp as both groups were firing at the rapidly approaching enemy.

However, the guards noticed that while the swiftstalkers had slowed down, they still continued to push forward with the same numbers. The bullets weren't landing!

In the bushes, this group of swiftstalkers was running as low to the ground as possible. While this slowed the Alpha, it knew that the bullets seemed to have a minimum height they would hit at. It made its drones go lower to reduce chances of a hit. And it was working!

"Why aren't they dying!?" a man screamed as he noticed the same number of dots coming towards them.

"Just keep firing! We got this!" another guard said.

"This is it. I'm going to die!" A guard yelled as she turned around and hopped off the wall.

At the same time this happened, the swiftstalkers broke through the tree line and were clearly illuminated by the floodlights. They slowed down and used the felled trees as cover to continue. Fearless of death, their advance was extremely fast.

Now the guards could see them, their shots landed. However, as the swiftstalkers fell, they got ever closer to the wall. The alpha was still in the back, being covered by 10 of its drones.

"They are coming closer! Hurry fire!" The guards became more panicked. They could still hear shots coming from the other group further up the wall. While theirs had slowed down. Some of their members losing moral and running.

Roar!

A swiftstalker finally made it to the wall. Jumping up, it used its tails to kill two guards still firing at the primary group of swiftstalkers, having not noticed this incoming threat just in front of them.

Their shots were quickly silenced as the swiftstalker ruthlessly hit them both in their head's side with its tails. Piercing all the way through in a bright burst of red. It ran forward while using its tails to hit more guards and grabbed another with its mouth.

"AHHHH, HELP HELP! IT HURT….!" The man was cut off with a sickening ripping noise, his body ripped in half by the swiftstalker as it used its front legs to hold half the man down while its jaws pulled up. The blood seemed to excite it as it ran towards the next victims.

Before it could continue its slaughter, a bullet connected directly with its brain. Ending its existence and rampage. Fired by a guard farther down the wall.

But there were still 10 swiftstalkers in this group. While they only had 6 more guards left. With 12 people already dead.

What will the colony do?! Now the swiftstalkers could quickly charge down the wall and kill many guards!
