Chapter 2: God's Guidance

A transparent screen was floating in front of me, asking whether I would like to accept God's Guidance.

But instead of answering it right away, I took a breather.

I was still overwhelmed by emotion due to the fact that I was somehow back in the past.

I wiped the tears that were flowing from my face as I try to pick myself back up.

"Wait, I have to know what date it is today" I went back into the apartment but not before looking one last time at the Empire of Lucradian which was now in its prime bustling with life.

"The things you take for granted,"

As I went back into the apartment, I try my best to remember where I would put my phone in the past.

But my memory appeared to be quite hazy which would be a huge problem because that means I would have trouble remembering all the other details from my past life.

"One problem at a time," I say to myself as I go back to trying to remember where would I put my phone.

But after a while, I just could not remember no matter how hard I squeeze my brain so instead, I searched every nook and cranny of my apartment until finally, I found it lying on top of the microwave in the kitchen.

"There you are" I took the phone and proceeded to start it up.

To my shock, It seems I went back 15 years to the past.

The declaration of war from the demons would happen a year after my graduation.

As I look at my calendar, it appears that the first day of my academy life is in about two weeks from now.

I then quickly looked at my contacts and immediately called someone.

*Ring*

*Ring*

*Ring*

"What's up, kid? Do you need anything?" a voice came out from the phone.

"Ah-" I couldn't say anything as I stand in shock to hear that same voice again.

"Uh? sport? Hello? Anybody there?"

"Oh -ah, just wanted to hear some advice from you since, y'know I'm going to be attending the Academy next next week?"

I then hear a burst of laughter from the phone

"Stop overthinking kid, you already decided on what kind of stigma you want right?"

I think back to the first day of the academy in my past life.

Since I was not blessed with mana, people like me can choose to be ingrained with a stigma to be able to manifest aura.

There are two Stigmas that you can choose to be ingrained in your heart.

The Stigma of the Sword

The Stigma of the Shield

The key difference between the two is when you choose to bear the Stigma of the Sword you'll be able to manifest an offensive type aura, designed to pierce, slash and kill.

The Stigma of the Shield however will make you manifest a defensive type of aura, designed to block, parry, and protect.

In my past life, I chose to be ingrained with the Stigma of the Shield but ultimately my training and effort only amounted to a C-Tier level of handling and efficiency, which was not bad but not good enough to be able to block another attack from a demon.

Once you choose one and the ingraining process is completed there is no going back as it is impossible to alter as it has been ingrained in your heart.

"Yooooo? Hellooooo?"

I snap out of my daze as I hear the voice of my uncle on the phone.

"Oh yeah, I'm still thinking about it"

"Well, keep this in mind, the shield has a much better salary than the sword, you know how many people keep wanting to be ingrained with the sword? the market is oversaturated with average sword graduates so if you want my advice go be ingrained with the shield."

"I'll keep that in my mind"

"Good, now I gotta go, kinda in the middle of work here, there are burgers in the fridge, leave some for me later will you?"

"Yeah sure, see ya"

It was nice to hear the voice of my Uncle Kayn, after the death of my parents back when I was only in elementary, he took up the responsibility to care for me even though he could have spent that time raising a family of his own.

He graduated from the Academy with a level of B+ Tier in the Sword Stigma, with that he was able to get a job as an officer of the MEA, or Monster Enforcement Agency, whose job was to keep citizens safe from monsters outside and in some cases inside the Empire of Lucradian.

But during the 10-year demonic war, the MEA's top priority changed from keeping the monsters at bay to giving assistance to the heroes, he was sent along with many to help one of the heroes subjugate a general of the demonic army, but not a single one returned that day.

I need to start planning what I need to do, so fate won't play out twice.

I look beside me and still see the same transparent screen still floating and asking if I want God's Guidance or not.

With this, I would like to assume whoever that being is, that had such power that was powerful enough to send me back to the past was a God.

But whose God was it?

Throughout the history of the world, there were 7 gods that overlooked our existence.

Raylin, The Goddess of Light

Naix, The God of Night

Nautilus, The God of Seas

Brilan, The God of Mountains

Sanguine, The God of War

Arcea, The Goddess of Archery

Lynia, The Goddess of Love

My best bet here would be Naix, the God of Night since the place I encountered that being was in a place devoid of any light.

But the figure I saw with my very own eyes resembled that of a woman, yet The God of the Night is believed to be a man, so that doesn't add up.

I'm going to need more information.

As I try to put my phone in my back pocket I felt something else in it already.

"Wha- Why is this here?"

The lighter that I would buy during my 3rd year in the academy is already in my possession.

As I carefully inspect it, there seems to have been no change to its design.

Its silver-colored exterior with signs of rust is still present,

I try to light it up and see that it is still functional like before.

It should have blown to pieces just like me but here it is like nothing ever happened.

"Wait? if this lighter went back bearing the same characteristics from my past life, what about me?"

I quickly made my way to the bathroom inside my apartment to look at myself in the mirror.

Blonde hair, blue eyes with a body fit for a 17- year old teenager reflected from the mirror.

I utter a small chuckle as I actually thought that I came back with my bulky body which I achieved through the harsh training regime of pursuing a decent tier in the Shield Stigma at the academy.

I let out another chuckle at how stupid I am when I could have just looked at my physique earlier instead of looking at the mirror, I guess the shock of being sent suddenly to the past fiddles with your mind quite a bit.

I check my phone once again to see what time it is.

It is currently 10 am in the morning, I have enough time to research whose God could this transparent screen floating beside me could be mentioning.

I spent hours browsing and scourging the internet on my phone, researching each and every single God.

But all I found was just general information about them, and none of them fit the description of the being I was desperate to find.

I look at the time and see that It was already 4 pm, and the sun was about to set from the horizon.

I let out a deep sigh, as I lie down in bed, and stare at the transparent window still floating beside me.

"Will you accept God's Guidance?"

"Y/N"

It still has the same message as before.

"Should I accept it?"

But before I could answer my own question I hear the front door of the apartment open.

'You better left me some burgers kid, or you're going to get your ass whooped"

It seems that my uncle arrived back from his work.
