Chapter 27: I’m not cheating.
The test started and teams started heading up. The first team was a team of two girls that seemed to be friends with each other. They both had swords.
The round started and both girls rushed forwards and their swords clashed. They both used a bunch of different moves and they kept switching between offensive and defensive. While watching I payed attention to their small mistakes.
'Your leaving an opening on your left leg they are going to take advantage of that. Your movements were too wide and left too many openings. Your stance is wrong and your going to mess up your swing. Your doing unnecessary movements.' I thought as I watched them exchange blows.
Neither were good but they could both improve a lot with some extra training. Eventually the spar stopped when one girls sword got hit out their hand.
"Spar is over! Well done both of you. I hope you lot were watching! Alright next group." Them man said as the two girls sat down.
The rest of the groups also made lots of mistakes which I noticed but I guess they were all quite good as the examiner looked pleased with all the examinees.
"Alright last group come up!"
Zack and I walked up to the spar zone and he drew his sword.
"Where is your sword?" Zack asked me.
"May I borrow one?" I asked the examiner as I didn't want to reveal Adonis.
"Sure. Catch." He said as he threw over a sword.
"Not my kind of sword but it'll do." I said as I caught the blade and stood facing Zack who took his stance.
"You going to get ready or what?" He asked looking impatient.
"I'm already prepared." I said back.
"Start!" The examiner shouted and Zack lunged forward at me.
"You underestimating me? Fatal mistake." Zack said as he swing at my neck and once the blade got around 23cm away from my neck I put my sword up to block his sword.
"No I guess I overestimated you." I said as I turned my gaze to him.
He jumped back and prepared himself to go back in and swing at me. The crowd of people looked astonished and wondered how I did that and even the examiner looked surprised but he went back to a serious look a few seconds later.
"Come at me." I said as I put my sword back to my side and had the tip facing the floor.
Zack jumped forwards and swing at me horizontally and I blocked his attack. He kept striking and I kept defending while he smirked at me but you could tell he was nervous.
"Is that all you can do? All your doing is defending! Don't tell me you don't know how to attack." He said looking amused.
"Can you defend?" I asked.
"Obviously!" He shouted.
"You left many openings while you were swinging so I thought you didn't know how to. I'll attack you then, try your best to defend." I said as I dashed forwards not using my full speed and I kicked up a bit of dirt.
I slashed diagonally down and stopped before I slashed through his shoulder.
"I win." I said as I turned my back to him and walked off.
"Spar is over! Well done girl, what's your name?" The examiner asked.
"Kiera." I replied.
"You bitch! You must have cheated!"
I heard Zack shout and I could sense him running at me but I paid no mind until he slashed horizontally at my neck which I ducked under and grabbed his wrist.
"Don't be a sore loser and just accept defeat." I said as I twisted his wrist making him drop the sword.
"Ouch!" He groaned as I let go of his wrist and walked off sitting down on the ground.
I could feel everyone's eyes on me including Tess's so I looked over. Tess looked startled when our gazes met and she gave me an awkward wave before turning her head back to her book that she had out.
I could noticed someone approach me and looked their direction.
"Hello." The girl said to me sitting down next to me.
"Hi." I said not paying attention to her.
"How did you get so strong?" She asked with her eyes shining.
"Training and fighting." I said looking at her.
"You fought?"
"Yeah."
"What did you fight?"
Obviously I couldn't tell her what I actually fought so I just said some monsters that could be found in Harpsferd.
"Goblins and wolves." I said as they were low level monsters.
"Wow. How often do you train or fight then?" She asked.
"Every day." I said turning my head back around so I was no longer facing her. "No more questions. I'm not going to answer."
"Sorry for bothering you." The girl said getting up. "Thank you for answering me." She said as she ran off back to the group she was originally with.
"Alright rest is over, the next part to this test is to test your aim with a bow! Please grab a bow and 10 arrows and stand behind a target at the line I've marked out." The examiner shouted and everyone went to stand behind a target with a bow and arrows.
"You only get to do 10 shots so take as long as you need to aim. You can start when your ready." The examiner said and I could tell he was paying the most attention to me.
I took an arrow and drew back my bow, releasing it with no hesitation. The arrow flew towards the target and everyone payed attention to it as no one started yet. Bullseye. It was expected that I got a bullseye since my skills [Bow mastery] and [Perfect aim] where both 100% so I was a master at this and standing and shooting at a target while neither myself nor the target were moving was incredibly easy. I'm used to this.
"Wow did you see that?" A heard someone whisper but with my heightened senses I could hear it all perfectly clear.
"Of course I did, who didn't?!" Another whispered.
"How did they do that?"
"I'm going to try. It looks to simple."
Others began to shoot at their targets and most missed but a few got a hit.
I continued to fire my arrows and all of them hit the bullseye.
"She has to be using an artifact to make her aim perfect doesn't she? There is no way she could do that." I heard another whisper with a bunch agreeing.
"Kiera I'm going to have to search you and see if you have an artifact on you." The examiner said.
"Sure, go ahead." I said knowing I didn't have one.
He searched my whole body with a scanner and he held up my hand which had Adonis imbedded into.
"That's my weapon." I replied truthfully.
"What a lie! So she was cheating! No wonder she won against me!" Zack shouted and people started to agree with him.
"*sigh* I can prove it." I said. "Sword." I said aloud and Adonis transformed into a sword and the examiner saw that the small stone that was imbedded in my hand was gone.
"She is telling the truth, she has no artifact so get back to shooting." The examiner said as I transformed Adonis back and the stone appeared back in my hand.
"I did say."
"I guess you did."
Everyone went back to shooting and some took a few glances at me.
'Why would I have the need to cheat?'
Everyone finished shooting and the examiner looked at everyone's target and nodded.
"The last parts of this test is testing your physical strength and stamina. You will punch a metal slab at full strength and numbers will appear to show your strength, it has been magically enhanced so it won't break unless an S - rank adventurer punches it. For us to test stamina you will be running laps until you can't anymore. So let's start with strength." He said as he guided us to the metal slab that was in a wall.
