Chapter 2: The Cave of Knowledge
Yashiro lay unconscious on the ground inside a cave. A horse-like creature with two antlers reached and smelled him to check whether he is alive or dead.
A hooded figure stood on the horse and slowly rubbed its back before assuring it, "Don't worry Torrent, fortune is on his side. We found him here, after all."
The horse neighed in agreement as the hooded figure stepped down from it and continued in a calm tone, "One of his kind is sure to seek the Elden Ring."
She continued in a serious tone before vanishing in thin air, "...Even if it does violate the Golden Order..."
Yashiro woke up as a few drops of water fell from the ceiling to his eyes. He immediately sat upright and tried to move his arms. He found three flasks of Crimson Tears and a flask of Cerulean Tears lying on the floor beside him.
Storing all the flasks in the inventory, Yashiro picked up his sword and ran towards the cliff where it read, 'Do you seek Elden Ring? The Cave of Knowledge lies Below.'
He jumped down the edge of the cliff and landed directly on the ground skipping the platform which could support his fall. A golden streak of light was coming from within the cave entrance and without wasting any time, Yashiro ran towards it.
Yashiro immediately touched the tip of the glowing golden light and it lit up, illuminating its surroundings. A message popped up informing, 'Lost Grace Discovered'.
After resting at the grace site for a while, Yashiro stood up and ran towards the next area where a skeleton zombie was waiting to greet him. It wore an old ragged tunic and leather pants, holding a rusty blade it limped forward as it noticed Yashiro.
Yashiro lunged at the skeleton zombie, killing it in two hits. As soon as he sighed with relief, another skeleton zombie limped in his direction and scratched his left arm. Yashiro rolled sidewards and dealt a critical blow.
He saw two other skeleton zombies in the next area which was illuminated with several half-burnt candles, both the skeleton zombies tried to land a blow but Yashiro killed both of them in two hits while switching targets after one hit.
Yashiro jumped through the stone stairs while moving forward and reached a large hallway, but suddenly he saw the trajectory of an arrow that missed his chest by an inch, it made his heart skip a beat. He immediately rolled into the bushes and looked in the direction of the arrow and saw a person in iron-clad armor, firing arrows from his crossbow at the interval of five seconds.
Yashiro plucked the 'Rowa Fruit' from the bushes and ran towards the next patch of bushes. He dodged two arrows before entering the next section of the cave and was greeted by another soldier who was equipped with a spear in his right hand and a greatshield in his left.
The soldier was slowly and carefully stepping in right while Yashiro stepped towards his right, his muscles tensed as he took a wrong step and the soldier immediately strike at Yashiro's right leg with his spear. He rolled behind the soldier before the heavy follow attack could hit him and stabbed through the soldier's heart, he shrieked in pain before laying dead.
Yashiro took in a deep breath as he felt like suffocating, "This VR thing feels too real, I was tensed out there."
Yashiro took a last look at the dead body of the soldier before running forward. He saw a message inscribed near the hallway that led to the next section of the cave and it read, 'Already Killed the guy? Well done on your first kill.'
Ignoring the message, Yashiro ran forward and saw two skeleton zombies limping in his direction, he side-stepped when the rusty blade was about to hit him and killed both of them in a flash.
Next, Yashiro came face to face with the soldier with a crossbow and an arrow came hurtling towards him, directly piercing his stomach. He gritted his teeth and rushed towards the soldier and jump-attacked him, which made the soldier lose his footing and fall from the stone bridge, and died.
The whole cave echoed with his cry and it made Yashiro's heart thump loudly inside his chest. Nevertheless, Yashiro kept his cool and sprinted forward, killing another Skeleton Zombie. In the next area, his eyes fell on a Skeleton Zombie who was digging the ground and he crouched towards it before backstabbing it.
Yashiro jumped off the high ground and kept crouching through the thick bushes, a ray of light that came from the cracks in the ceiling illuminated the dark part of the cave. He killed yet another skeleton zombie before reaching a mini statue sculpted out of stone.
"This cave as usual littered with Skeleton Zombies, why can't they add variety to the tutorial section of the game?"
Yashiro bowed before the statue and walked towards the golden mist that covered the next area of the cave. He touched it and the Golden mist cleared out immediately, revealing an area that was covered with shallow water and was the largest among the rest.
Yashiro saw someone approaching him from the other side of the cave. A soldier in similar iron armor, holding a longsword in both of his arms. While Yashiro was busy reading the name of the man, 'Soldier of Godrick', he thrust his longsword and Yashiro fell onto the ground due to the impact.
Yashiro swiftly rolled to the other side as he saw Soldier of Godrick's sword come crashing upon his fallen body. He then followed his roll with an attack and again rolled away. Yashiro kept repeating the method, successfully dodging all the attacks while hitting him on the mark.
Yashiro jump-attacked Soldier of Godrick for the final blow. He took a sigh of relief as the message popped up, 'ENEMY FELLED'. He then walked towards the other side and came out at the starting area.
"Went through all that for just six hundred runes." Yashiro sighed heavily before pushing the wooden gate open.
He rushed through the dimly lit hallway and reached another site of grace where he rested till the next morning to replenish his HP and FP before continuing forward. After triggering the mechanism of the old platform lift, Yashiro lifted the heavy metal door and was welcomed by the sight of a new place and fresh air.
Yashiro felt the warmth from the sun and soft breeze, looking around enthusiastically he exclaimed, "Limgrave, I appreciate and gladly accept this warm welcome."
