Chapter 63: Chapter 63 : Satsuki Momoi
"You know her, Bastard?"
Kagami looked at Furihata strangely. He had no doubt that Furihata would somehow know every basketball player in the country. But the one in front of them right now is a girl, and by the look of her body build and muscle, she didn't seem like an athlete.
"Stop staring at him like that, it is creepy!" Furihata smacked his back after he was caught off-handed scanning her body. It also doesn't help that the girl in front of them wears a swimsuit that is a bit too revealing for a high school student, making it look like Kagami is a pervert.
"And as for your question, I know OF her, not knowing her personally. She is Satsuki Momoi, the former manager of the Generation of Miracles and the current manager of Toho Academy, choosing to follow Aomine instead of the other players."
Kagami was surprised for a moment before he narrowed his eyes in suspicion.
"Does that mean she comes to spy on our training?"
"Dumbass!" Furihata smacked Kagami's head again. "Do you think a team with Aomine in it would spy on their opponent?"
Kagami nodded his head repeatedly, clearly understanding what Furihata meant. However, Momoi who didn't know that Furihata is just being sarcastic beamed in pride.
"Thank you for the compliment, Furihata-san! Although flattery wouldn't help you win the game, you know?"
Both Kagami and Furihata looked at each other in confusion for a moment before a burst of laughter came from those two.
"Ahahahaha!"
"Did I just hear wrong, Bastard?"
"No, I hear the same. S-S-She thinks I am complimenting her team! Ahahaha! Oh God, that was hilarious! What a good joke!" Furihata wiped a single tear from the corner of his eyes, his shoulder is still shaking.
Momoi who didn't know what is funny just pouted, didn't like the fact they laugh at her.
"Hey, what is so funny? You said before that with Dai-chan on the team, we wouldn't need to spy on the other, right? Isn't that a compliment on how strong he is?"
Furihata raised his eyebrows a little at the nickname but decided to ignore it.
"Well, miss Ice Queen," Furihata noticed she flinched at the nickname. "I was just being sarcastic before. What I really mean is, with Aomine's arrogance that could touch the sky, do you think he would lower himself to spy on us, mere mortals?"
Now, it is clear to Momoi that Furihata's voice is full of mockery, and she couldn't help but blush, realizing that they know Aomine pretty well to the point they can mock his attitude.
"W-Well, if you have the confidence to mock him like that, you better have the ability to back it up."
Furihata just raised his eyebrows at that.
"If you had eavesdropped on our conversation before, you should have the image of our condition, right?"
"What do you mean by eavesdropping?" Kagami suddenly interrupted their conversation.
"Well, she has been here for about fifteen minutes. At first, I thought she would just stare at Phantom with her creepy expression most of the time. But as time goes by, I noticed she tried to get closer and closer to here, showing an interest in our conversation. If that was not eavesdropping, I don't know what else I can say."
Momoi blushed more; didn't expect she would get caught off-handedly like that.
"Y-You shouldn't talk about a lady's secret like that! It is rude!"
Furihata rolled his eyes as he muttered inwardly,
"Women."
However, before he could say anything, the girl already leaves the spot and go running toward the pool, leaving both boys speechless in their seats. Kagami just shifted his eyes from Furihata to Momoi back to Furihata again.
"What the hell just happened? And why is she running toward the other? What is she planning?"
"Don't worry about her." Furihata waved his hand, dismissing Kagami's worry. "She just has an unhealthy obsession with Phantom."
Kagami's face is getting blank at that.
"Are you joking?"
"Not really. I don't know why she is so obsessed with Phantom, considering his personality. Just she doesn't toy with him."
"Is there a possibility of that?" Kagami asked, now with a serious expression.
Furihata had to admit, even though Kagami is a bit bastard, he is quite protective of his teammates, especially Kuroko. No wonder there are a lot of weird rumors about them in the school.
Furihata pondered for a moment before he answered the question,
"She had a lot of nasty rumors when she was the manager of the Generation of Miracles. I won't believe everything from rumor, but being a little careful wouldn't hurt us. Either way, Phantom knows how to handle her. She is his former manager, after all."
Kagami nodded, accepting his answer.
"You seem to know a lot about her. Where do you get that information?"
"Oh, you can find it all on Twitter. Teiko's students are monsters in their social media, and Momoi-san is one of the victims of it."
Seeing the confusion in Kagami's expression, he explained immediately.
"Well, besides their basketball skill, the second most appealing news about the Generation of Miracles is their good-looking appearances. The fact that only she could get near them without easily of course would bring a lot of nasty rumors and accusations. Some girls on Twitter even said that she manipulated the team so she could monopolize them for herself, and the reason she was obsessed with Phantom is only because he is the least interested in her. It is kinda scary, actually, how people behave on Twitter."
Furihata couldn't help but shudder when he remembers some women about 25 years old making a comment about the Generation of Miracles would be 'husbando' material and they would groom them to fulfill their fantasy.
'Honestly, I don't know why Twitter hasn't taken down that comment yet. That was pedophilia, and scary as fuck.'
"Anyway," Kagami's voice suddenly snapped him from his thought. "I will go outside for a moment. I need to take fresh air." He stood up from his seat. "Want to join?"
Furihata looked at his teammates first to see the situation. When he saw Kuroko could handle his friend without any problem, he stood up from his seat too and followed Kagami.
"Yeah, I need to make sure you are not creating trouble."
"Who do you think I am?"
Furihata just rolled his eyes, opening his phone and scrolling through it while walking alongside Kagami. There is silence between them for a minute before Kagami broke it with a question,
"So, anything interesting happened?"
Furihata raised his eyebrows slightly at Kagami who played basketball in his hand before he replied to the question.
"The Golden State Warriors broke the record for the most win in the regular season and Kobe Bryant scored 60 points in his final game. Anything caught your interest?"
Kagami pondered for a moment before he answered,
"I just find it annoying how the Golden State Warriors change the direction of the NBA to the three points play."
Furihata nodded, could understand his reasoning.
"I can see your point. The change kinda makes all the teams in NBA turn into super offensive three-point teams, trying to replicate their success. In the near future, it would be hard for players in position four or five to adapt to this new playing style. Sooner or later, the traditional big men who can only play inside the paint would have fewer minutes playing. Except if you are Shaq, of course."
"Yeah, but that is the reality. I would also need to improve my shooting accuracy in the future."
"That is a wise decision."
They keep talking for a while until they reached the nearest park that have a small basketball court in it, as they were interrupted by a sudden voice from behind.
"Taiga Kagami and Kouki Furihata?" They both snapped their head at the same time, turning around to see the source of the voice. There, they could see a dark-skinned boy with dark-blue hair grinning at them. "Satsuki's information network sure is incredible as always."
"Do we know you?"
Kagami frowned at him. However, the answer he received is something he didn't expect at all.
"Me? My name is Aomine." The boy grinned ferally as he saw the shocked expression from Kagami. "You defeated Kise and Midorima? Let's see how strong you are. I challenge both of you. Be my opponent."

Sorry for the short chapter. I'm kinda stuck and need some inspiration. I will be back tomorrow with FURIHATA VS AOMINE!
Also, just to be clear, I am not trying to make Momoi sound like a bitch. But if you don't know her background story with the Generation of Miracles, you have to admit that there would be suspicion and rumor (in normal society). But I will make her act friendly toward Seirin in the future. Just like in the original story.
