Chapter 2: Chapter2

#Chapter2

It takes the right people to help you heal

Mack

Nik would call, filling me in on what he was doing and how things were going. There were bumps along the way, but he was getting better. I guess I should tell you what I mean.

Nik

I started work at the bakery. When I wasn’t at work, the brothers kept me busy, trying to distract me as best as they could. It took a few weeks, but I started feeling like my old self. I sure missed that person.

I went for walks a lot to clear my head. Most of the time, they would leave unless I left for interminable periods. Then I would feel two muscular arms wrapped around my waist from behind. Someone lay their head on my shoulder - Leo.

/"Whatcha doing?/" Leo asked.

/"I’m thinking,/" I said, turning to face him.

He released me, then looked at me. /"You know you overthink. Let’s go have some fun,/" he whined, tugging on my hand.

/"Fine,/" I sighed.

A little while later, we arrived at a place with rides, concession stands, and games.

/"A carnival?/" I asked, giving Leo and his brothers a look.

/"What’s wrong with a carnival?/" Xavier asked.

/"When you said fun, I didn’t think this is what you had in mind,/" I said to Leo.

/"Well, excuse me, if I want to take my boyfriend to something fun,/" Leo said in an exasperated tone.

/"Well, don’t you think it’s weird to take me on a date with your brothers accompanying us?/" I questioned Leo.

/"Only because Scarlett refused to let us do with her and Matt,/" Zane grinned.

/"Psh, what did I get myself into with you?/" I asked, shaking my head.

/"Ooh, Ferris wheel,/" Leo squealed. /"Come on./" He took my hand and dragged me to the Ferris wheel.

/"Why must Leo always go for the Ferris wheel?/" Angelo asked.

/"Because Leo likes to make us suffer,/" Frisco said, shrugging.

We climbed into the bucket of the ride as the brothers got into the other buckets. We went around twice, and Leo giggled like a junior girl. I had to admit it was cute. We stopped at the top. Well, damn.

Leo leaned in and looked me in the eye, /"Nik?/"

/"Yeah,/" I said, looking back at him.

/"I know you may not feel the same, but…/" Leo hesitated. /"Well, what I’m trying to say is that. Damn it; this isn’t coming out the way I want it to,/" Leo rambled.

I looked at Leo, then pulled his lips to mine and kissed him. He placed his hands on my face as he kissed me back. Then I said, /"I love you, Leo./"

Leo looked at me. /"I love you, Nik./"

/"Did you two nitwits finally confess your undying love for each other?/" Angelo yelled to us.

/"Way to kill the mood, Angie,/" Leo yelled back down.

I chuckled. /"Well, now we can get off this damn thing. Christ, I hate the fucking Ferris wheel,/" Angelo grumbled. Leo and I laughed.

Once we were at the bottom, we got off the ride, and Leo pulled me into a kiss. /"God, you don’t know how nervous I was to tell you./"

/"I could tell,/" I smirked.

/"Yeah, yeah, you two were nervous about confessing your undying love for each other. Now can we go ride some other rides?/" Xavier asked us as he walked by with the others.

/"The next time we go on a date, we go alone,/" I told Leo.

/"Yeah,/" Leo agreed.

We caught up to the others and rode the rides. We played some games, then went back to the house.

Once we were back at home, Leo and I were hanging out in the living room as the others went to bed. We sat there as he ran his hand along with mine.

/"Nik?/" Leo said.

/"Mmm,/" I mumbled.

/"I’m glad that you’re here,/" Leo said to me.

/"I’m glad I’m here, too,/" I told him. /"You know when we started talking after I lost Mike. I would have never imagined it developing into something more./"

Leo looked at me as I continued, /"But I’m glad it did. I meant what I said tonight, Leo. Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with you, and to be honest, it scares the hell out of me./"

Leo looked at me. /"I get it, Nik. After Kyle broke my heart, I thought I would never meet someone that would make me feel the way he did. Then when I first met you right after you came out, I thought this poor kid needs help./"

/"Gee, thanks,/" I grumbled, rolling my eyes.

/"What I meant is, you needed someone that understood. Then I saw you again last year. It surprised me at how confident you became and how fucking hot you turned out,/" Leo exclaimed.

I gave Leo a weird look.

/"But when I saw your world collapse that night with Mike, my heart ached for you. The pain you suffered at the loss of someone you loved made me realized how much you needed someone. To be honest, all I planned on doing was being a friend. When you kissed me that one night, I couldn’t stop thinking about you. That’s when I knew I wanted you,/" Leo admitted.

I leaned over and gave him a soft kiss. His lips were so sweet and full. I could kiss them all the time. He kissed me back, and our kiss deepened as things got heated between us. Then I felt his hand move down to my waist of my pants. As he undid my belt, I stopped him.

I pulled away and whispered, /"I’m not ready./"

Leo looked at me. /"Nik, did you never do this before?/"

I shook my head.

/"Not even with Mike?/" Leo questioned.

I looked at Leo. /"We only kissed. We wanted to wait until it was the right time./"

Leo sat back. /"Um, I’m sorry. I didn’t know./"

/"It’s okay,/" I said.

Leo turned and took his finger. He lifted my chin, looking me in the eye. /"Nik, it’s okay. We can take it as slow as you need./"

/"Are you sure?/" I questioned.

/"Yeah, when you love someone, you wait for them, no matter how long it takes,/" Leo told me.

I kissed him and pressed my forehead to his. /"I love you so much./"

/"Well, God, I hope so because it’s taking all I have not to jump you,/" Leo grinned, making me laugh.

/"Delightful way to ruin a moment, Leo,/" I retorted.

/"Eh, you get used to it. Ready for bed?/" Leo asked.

I gave Leo a suspicious look as he rolled his eyes. /"To sleep and to think people think I’m the perve./" He took my hand, and we went upstairs. I changed into a pair of sweats and climbed into Leo’s bed, then laid down. He came in only sweats, and I couldn’t stop staring at him. Holy fuck, it built him.

I swear he doesn’t look this massive when he’s wearing a shirt. My body frame was muscular but lean. He looked like a beast. He climbed into bed.

/"What?/" Leo asked, looking confused.

/"Nothing,/" I mumbled.

/"You’re checking me out,/" Leo said with a smirk.

/"No, I wasn’t,/" I said, staring at the ceiling.

/"You were too,/" Leo laughed as he laid on his back.

I propped myself up. /"Okay, I was. But how the fuck are you so built?/" I exclaimed.

Leo propped himself up. /"It’s call hitting the gym./"

I stared at him as he smirked.

/"Look, how about we hit the gym, and when you go home, you’ll be muscular like me?/" Leo asked me.

/"Okay, as long as you don’t kill me,/" I answered, unsure of hitting the gym with Leo.

/"I promise not to kill you. Stop being overdramatic. Now, come here so I can cuddle you,/" Leo said, wiggling his eyebrows at me.

I moved over to him and laid on his chest as he wrapped his arms around me. I drifted off to sleep in his arms. That was the first time in a long time that I didn’t have nightmares and slept through the night. That was the first time I felt safe and loved in a long time. Tonight was the first time in a year; I could open myself and my heart to someone after Mike’s death.
