Chapter 3: Only Grandson

The front road of the town, which was purely covered with the forest came to end as the trees and bushes and greenery stared to fade slowly, as the threshold came into the view.

"Wow. This is the magnificent entrance. Are we gonna enter in the Fae World? Or fairytopia?" Anna barked with her lips round in a whistle.

"Can we go for tracking in the forest?" Harper eyed the cool scenery of forest visible from the other side of wooden gate of the town. The town entrance was made of wooden structure with colourful vines and flower decorated over it. From the entrance you could see the blocks of buildings and busy street with people flowing through the day to day activities. Some people were going to the forest where Harper was looking at. They noticed them and greeted Roman loudly and invited him to go with them for a trip. Roman denied them having said he had the guests to attend. They met many off road vehicles and large trucks on the way to here. From the time to time people would cast their glance around them and then greet Roman when noticing him.

"Course you can. But not unattended. Just ask Mr Davis about this. He will give you the whole site map for the forest. There is also a GPS Application for the forest so that you won't get lost. We go on picnic or tracking there but there is the boundary made with radar and there are physical signs too to indicate the road limit of venturing." Roman replied while letting the Jeep into the Town Gate.

The five nodded simultaneously as they listened to the rant Roman was sprouting. He was a very extrovert guy with innocent persona trapped in a giant. He excitedly recited some stories and places for fun in the town. Occasionally waving at some people who seemed locals.

"Are we going to Mr Davis' home? Or he could be at Township Administration Office. We could go either way." Roman asked while driving to the street called Silver Fort Main Circle.

"How about we go to meet Grandpa and Grandma first and then meet Mr Davis?" Harper asked the others.

"Yeah. We need to keep our luggage too. Let's go to Manor first. Then we'll go meet Mr Davis. Or I guess Mr Davis will come to meet us there." Raph nodded.

Roman looked at the teenagers discussing, confused that why would Mayor go to visit them somewhere else. Aren't they Mr Davis' guests? Shouldn't they meet Mayor directly?

"Okay. We will go to Vlahos Manor first." Harper told Roman.

"V…Vlahos Manor? Aren't you Mayor's guests?" Roman pulled the breaks in surprise.

"Well, my grandparents live there. Vlahos Manor." Harper exchanged a glance with her twin and emphasized again looking at the strange reaction of the older man.

This time listening to her the older man was much more bewildered. "You…. Are you Granddaughter of Gregory Vlahos? Are you daughter of Andy?" Roman couldn't contain his curiosity and took a closer look towards the teenage girl. He found her really taking after Andy and Nikky. This beautiful girl was really the granddaughter of Vlahos Family! If he is well aware after five generations Vlahos Family had a daughter. Roman being the local of the town knew about Vlahos Family ups and downs.

"Yeah. And this is my brother. Raphael." The girl pointed beside herself as she took trouble to introduce themselves again. Roman took in the young lad. Both did not look identical but from the introduction of Anna, he knew that both of them were twins. They really did take after Andrew and Nicole, Roman thought to himself.

"The old man's gotta be very happy. He is still bragging to us that his grandson is coming and cursing his son out that after so many years he is still henpecked and not talking to them even after two families reconciled. Well, he is still angry that Andy did not let him see his grandson for so many years." Roman envisioned the face of old man as he cursed the hell out after Andrew and Nicole got married sneakily. Andrew also took after his father's temper and took Nicole's hand lovingly and withdrew from this ancestral home immediately. Then never talked to his father. Occasionally called his mother for asking about their health.

"What? Only Grandson?" Harper pouted as she heard him saying this.

Roman was also confused about this. He shook his head at Raphael who asked him silently. Raphael stretched out his hand and took his sister in his arms wordlessly. Roman started the Jeep again. The rest of the drive was silent.

The sound of rumbling from the jeep got loud as the crunchy red leaves evaded the tires from rolling further. The delicate orange and red leaves were almost hanging around the branches. The whole region looked like it was painted in yellow, red and orange shade. The trunks and branches of the trees were so high, touching and calling the clouds like bagging them to shower them with pearly water drops.

Silver Fort Town was the most impeccable town as per the definition of ideal towns and villages. The nature seemed very fond of this town, even though autumn was guarding every leaf on the trees. The bright golden sun shining in the light sky blue horizon with non-existent white cotton ball clouds played around here and there, was giving the town a golden and scarlet hue.

This was the off feeling; neither pleasant nor adverse. As if the soil of the town was filling them with some warm energy, conveying the sadness of separation and rapture and delight of reunion. The teenagers glanced at each other imitating each other's expressions, as they felt the alteration in scenery and nature. All their mouths were gaped open as they took in the sight of their surroundings.

As described by their parents, the town was definitely the magnificent one. But what made them lowering their jaws, was the change in colour, smell and sight. As if the painting was changed in the matter of a few moments.

Before entering the town, where the greenery was blossoming and wafting the wetness and moisture through the atmosphere, here the falls were covering the town with sparkling clock of sunlight. The air was not very foggy or chilly, but was cool against the skin and soothing in the harsh daylight. The warm, creamy and soft woodsy aroma of sandalwood and blaze maples stirred in the strange climate as the jeep was cutting the path through the adverse scenery.

The five were confused about the seasonal, climatic and other reticence of the town. While everyone was wondering about the gap between the town and the outside world, Lana's mind was reeling with the amazing balance of the weather and she was appreciating the strange scenario with thirsty eyes. Her artistic personality admired the perfect balance of nature. The warm sunny autumn, red tinge of leaves and moist, aromatic weather. What a tragedy of the great nature! She could only describe this town as a jewel of the forest as the region glowed golden and scarlet in sunlight in the center of the dark green and brown forest.

The entrance of the Main Circle Street was tailed with the long stony road with huge trees on both of the sides. The same yellow and red fall trees. The large signed gate of Silver Fort Residence area welcomed them as the people of the town were rushing through slowly progressing day here and there.

People were chattering and greeting happily each other while strolling. They looked at jeep hearing the rumbling sound of motor, and waved at Joe enthusiastically, while greeting quick pleasantries to Roman. And smiled at the guests.

The town was almost very modern, as the best illustration was the jeep they were sitting in and the off road vehicles and trucks they saw while on the way to the main entrance. Roman's friends who were going for tracking in the jungle were also holding some modern equipment. Harper noticed the front seats of the jeep. Beside the steering there were many switches and buttons, which made the jeep seem almost an ultramodern vehicle. She guessed, there would be the controls like shed and air conditioning etcetera.

But then she noticed the speakers on the deck and music system with LED screen. The system had access to USB, Wi-Fi and compact disks, or DVDs. But as that was the normal system of jeep it seemed, there was something weird. She followed the line of sight to the seats they were sitting on.

The ultrasound music speakers were joined below the seats. The sleek black boxes had buttons for volume, pause and resume with bass controls.

"Hey Roman, is this Jeep modified? It seems very contemporary and forward." Harper asked him as her attention finally diverted for the 'Only Grandson' topic.

"Hm… I modified it in my garage. It has a full picnic facility. There is a river fall at the north-west of the Ancient Forest. We would go there once in six months. I have three other vehicles like this Jeep. It would be convenient for shed and tent and BBQ with music system." Roman introduced the facilities and chuckling lightly answering her curiosity. Harper was surprised at his answer. Also he said there were THREE other.

She instantly agreed on that one while nodding her head in a thought. She also wanted to go on a picnic with a Jeep or other facility vehicle. Joe was staring at her with his chubby paws on her cheeks, when she met his eyes. She smiled showing her pearly whites. The young lad blushed adorably as the beautiful redhead noticed him. But in an instant those little eyes turned round as that beautiful face came too close to his face with its mouth open.

Soon there was a round light red bite mark on the cheek of the young lad. And those little pretty eyes of his were clouded in tears as he thought that his cheek was gone.

"Did it hurt?" the redhead asked while imitating nom-nom sound.

"N…No. But you ate my cheek. H… How will I pinch them no…w?" The boy questioned hiccupping while he tried to stifle his crying. That little face looked so adorable. Like a little apple which was bitten.

Harper fingered his cheek which was bitten by her lightly. The boy was paused his crying and stilled while feeling his bitten away cheek. It happens that this pretty demon did not eat his cheek. She just licked there. Relief.
