Chapter 5: Episode 3: A Third Ability?

"Hmm? Who are you?" Questioned Min-ho with some interest but still with the same apathetic face
The man replied back with a smile or something that resembled a smile it was hard to tell because of the darkness shrouding his face "My name is James."
'James? A weird name I would say' Min-ho thought, intrigued
The man named James extended a hand with a firm yet gentle grip and Min-ho accepted the gesture in kind.
"My name is Mi-" Before he could finish his introduction James cut him off by saying "Min-ho I know. You are quite the celebrity here everyone knows you."
Min-ho chuckled in response and retorted back "James is quite an uncommon name wouldn't you say? Particularly for this parts of the town."
"Is that so?" that was the only thing and last thing Min-ho heard from James before being teleported somewhere else
Seeing the change in the surroundings Min-ho had only one thing to say and that is
"Interesting"
James was shocked after seeing Min-ho's composure, But recovered his composure quickly 'Well that is to be expected.'
'Teleportation and an ability that has something to do with shadows.' said Min-ho
Before Min-ho was able to recollect all his thoughts together a thunderous jab was aimed at his face from James at bottleneck speed
Which Min-ho barely ducked in time and then jumped backwards to create some distance between them 'What the fuck?! Super speed, too?' said Min-ho while panicking
'Okay let's calm down that could have easily been a fluke or not in the worst-case scenario he has a third ability' thought Min-ho with wry smile on his face
'What superhuman reaction speed! It might be credited to luck too but even then for someone of his age to dodge a punch of that speed at point-blank range is almost impossible to pull off. What an interesting kid.' thought James seriously
"What was that?" Questioned Min-ho
"What was what?" Replied James with an innocent smile well that is what I assume is on his face, for context his face is still not clearly visible.
"So playing dumb, are we? Not that it matters I will figure out the truth one way or another," Replied Min-ho calmly, regaining his former composure.
Just as James was just about to charge at him a wall of flame was created between them by Min-ho
(Something thing like this)
(Why did Min-ho do that? Simple because he wanted to create even more distance between them and fighting a speedster at a close range is never a good idea and the only way for 'James' to travel was to either to teleport or run to the end of the flames.)
'I'm certain now he has super speed just that moment when he had made the first step it was at such speed that even my eyes couldn't keep up' said Min-ho seriously and worryingly
James decided to run rather than teleport to the ends of the wall with his super speed.
'So he saw through it huh, I was planning on tricking him into teleporting so that his super speed won't be as hard to deal with as he still has to run for some time to reach his full speed and by doing that I would be able to see his attack more clearly for a certain period of time. Well I guess losers can't be choosers' thought Min-ho chuckling
James was really close now, he saw Min-ho standing in front of him and he charged at him but just the second he was about to tackle him to the ground. Min-ho turned into a rat and dodged him which made James nearly crash into the fire but he barely stopped himself.
"Pretty clever I would say so your plan was for me to crash into the fire? Sad for you it looks like it failed." said James smirking
"Not really, I knew it wouldn't work on someone of your calibre," replied Min-ho
James suddenly started coughing
Why you may ask?
Because of James running at that speed and stopping lots of dust started spreading and it entered James's nose and eyes. And to make it worse he was standing near the fire which because of being too long was creating lots of smoke which blinded him temporarily
Seeing the opportunity Min-ho laughed and without further ado, Min-ho threw fireballs at him from his blindside(which is everywhere at this point)
But just before the fireballs lands on James he teleports.
"Huh?" Says Min-ho loudly in utter confusion
James teleported to the other side of the flames
He(James) calmed himself and prepared himself for combat and sidestepped as if to warm himself up as by that time Min-ho would have arrived to him but rather than arriving there Min-ho hadn't moved an inch from when he last saw him. Min-ho appeared to be in deep thought and was looking at the ground and then suddenly he said "I see it all makes sense now"
Min-ho looked back at James calling back his flames and thus making the walls of flames disappear and thus they were both looking at each other.
Suddenly, Min-ho shouts "Let's end this charade now"
Taken back by the sudden request James replied "Well why? Our fight still hasn't ended yet."
"Our fight still hasn't ended yet?! Min-ho repeated the words in utter disbelief. "What kind of nonsense are you spouting? I could have ended this battle any time I wanted, Did you really not notice or are you still playing dumb?"
And before James could reply Min-ho continued "And, you the one who is hiding in those bushes. The one who has been secretly helping our dear friend by teleporting come out right now."
James was shocked and questioned: "How did you know?"
"It was quite obvious but there were 3 things that made it really obvious
1. There is no historical evidence of someone having 3 abilities
2. Even without mentioning how absurd it is to have 3 abilities you have 2 abilities of the same type(travel-type abilities). Super Speed and Teleportation. This itself is extremely unlikely.
3. It was how you had teleported without even seeing to where you were teleporting. Teleportation is an ability that requires full attention and focus yet you had teleported when you were busy taking your sweet time coughing.
James became a bit embarrassed after hearing that. His face was now more visible.
And another thing was how you yourself were shocked when you had teleported but you quickly regained your composure" said Min-ho
'So he saw my change in reaction? Even though it was all in a split second.' thought James
'There is a fourth reason which I can't tell you 'James' and that is I got a warning from the System which finally made me conclude without any doubt.' said Min-ho in his mind
Flashback time
When Min-ho was standing by himself while 'James' teleported to the other side of the wall of flames without moving he was thinking about all the 3 things and then he heard an odd yet familiar clink sound. Which made him have a small smile appear on his face.
[Status]
There is someone hiding beside the bushes helping 'James teleport
'Huh?' Then Min-ho looked at the closest bushes and he saw someone move it was hard to see but there was definitely someone hiding behind the bushes
"I see it all makes sense now" muttered Min-ho
Back to the present time
"Impressive deduction but that still doesn't explain how you knew someone was there hiding in the bushes." said James while being impressed yet curious
"After coming to the conclusion that you didn't have a third ability it could only mean one thing that someone was helping you teleport but for that to happen they still have to see you or be in seeing range there aren't many hiding places in this ground but even then there was a problem what if the person had an ability that let them see you from further away but I was lucky I was still looking around in the bushes and saw someone moving. I think he also saw me looking so he tried to hide which just made things worse," replied Min-ho firmly
"You really are impressive the rumours about you clearly weren't exaggerated you thought of so many factors which I didn't even bother to think about," said James while clearly looking impressed
"Why isn't he coming out from the bushes?" pondered Min-ho while ignoring the compliment
"Oh, he is quite a shy person he really doesn't like meeting strangers." said James with a smile
"Well, whatever the case your name isn't really James is it?"
"So, the cats out of the box huh? yeah, James isn't my name it is the name of a character from a movie I really liked."
"I see so what is your real name then and the most important question why did you attack me?"
"My name is something you will find out sooner or later and about the part on why I attacked you it is because I wanted to check you out. I am from the student council you and your brother both applied for the Student Council President right?"
"Yes, so even my 'brother' was tested like this?"
"Not exactly like these but yeah he was tested too."
"Sorry, I can't tell the results to you even if you are his brother."
'I definitely don't see him losing but it would be funny to see him getting beaten up' Min-ho laughed inwardly
"Good luck, I really hope you can enter the Student Council I will be rooting for you."
"So touch my hand so we can teleport back to school" James extended his hand and prepared for a handshake
But he rejected his gesture "Thanks but no thanks this is just a 5-minute distance from school. I still have about 10 minutes for the next lecture."
"Huh? How did you know you had 10 minutes before your next lecture? You aren't wearing a watch." James checked the time and he was correct 10 minutes were still left.
"I'm quite a time-oriented person regardless of whether I have a watch or not I always make sure to remember and calculate the time consciously or subconsciously it's a bit of a habit."
Goodbye then, said James before teleporting away
