Chapter 3: •3•

3rd Person

Dixie felt the assignment she finished the other night to be quite simple. Part of the reason was her extensive knowledge of human deviancy as well as the other aspects of the psychology course work. She was dubbed "one of the smartest pupils in the institution" by some.

Her thoughts drifted frequently, but today's main concentration was on what the professor would be thinking as he graded this assignment. Would he be shocked by her edgy and unique phrasing? Or would he be surprised at how knowledgeable she was as a first-time deviancy student? Dixie hoped for the latter, but he was the most unpredictable man she had ever met.

Fridays were usually her unwinding days. She just wanted to get through the day so she could spend the weekend with her family as she did every week.

Dixie was still uneasy; something about the professor piqued her interest, and she knew he felt the same way, but school wasn't a place for misbehavior; it was a place where a professor taught and a student took notes, right? But what notes will she be taking this year, and what lesson will she be learning?

Her thoughts were occupied by the entire "Darcy and Bennett" saga. She was enamored and chuffed by the conversation, as well as proud of herself. She was proud of herself for sticking up for herself and being powerful in her own right.

Her saving grace was a messy buns. She wore them all day and looked great in them with every outfit. She planned to make this year most memorable yet, but a part of her yearned for more. She was always looking for more, but a girl who can't be satisfied has a difficult life.

She left her flat and walked to school after finishing her thoughts. Her morning routine consisted of a trip to the local coffee shop, where she had the same order for the past three years: a breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee...a somewhat mundane habit, but one that was quite effective in her regime.

Time passed quickly, and she was back at school before she knew it. She was surprised that she finished the first year, not because of the academic pressure, but because it was so dull. They spent the most of their time online and missed out on most of the activities planned for this year.

"Hey, Dixie, are you going to turn in your assignment now?" Kate's question caught her off guard.

She pondered the situation for a long time before responding. Dixie wasn't sure she wanted to face Noah so soon after what occurred in class the day before. Her nervousness and panic were gradually seeping in, but she's a fighter, and nothing was going to stop her.

"Sure, but where is Larray?"

"He's on the phone with his boyfriend, and he'll be here soon."

Boyfriends and relationships, in general, were a source of weakness for her. Hearing these topics, made her feel adrift and unwelcome. She was fully aware that her fetishes and pleasures were not the most prevalent, and that they would be quite difficult to come across, especially in this generational context. Despite the odds, she remained committed to her goals. It was undeniably desirable, and everyone deserves to be desired and loved.... or at the very least should be.

She examined everything as she walked to the staff room, including the individuals in the hallway and all of the teachers passing by.
