Chapter 101: Chapter 100

As soon as the sword was sheathed, after a few seconds, a painful hissing echoed through the jungle. The river nearby began to turn red due to the bloody rain from the wounds of the serpent, which previously proudly looked down on Severus, and now wriggled on the ground with a scream, destroying everything around it and irrigating the ground with blood.

"Satisfied?" the indifferent voice of the Snape sounded, which, amid the loud hiss of the monster, and it was almost impossible to hear.

"Yes... we thank you - human, finally my brothers and sisters can rest, now there is one last thing left... kill this snake!" The voice of the King of Treants sounded very ominous, but the young man did not pay much attention to this, thinking about something completely different, and he had asked this question only for show.

"HUMAN!" the red eyes of the creature, filled with thirst for blood, dug into the figure of Severus and overcoming all the pain from the wounds covering almost every centimeter of the body, it slowly began to rise up, "EVEN IF I DIE TODAY, I WILL TAKE YOU WITH ME!" and the next moment, opening its mouth, the monster rushed towards Severus, intending to swallow him at once.

But the Snape did not just stand still and touched the centre of the unprotected chest, the letters on it caught fire and he disappeared from his place, appearing ten metres to the left, and the snake only managed to bite the earth with dark dust left after the decomposition of plants.

But the snake did not stop there, because not even a second passed before the tip of the tail rushed towards the Severus, which he did not even try to block, considering it to be stupidity, and again moved to the right without any problems.

Nevertheless, the bloodied monster looked especially frightening, and it understood that due to such a huge loss of blood, it was unlikely to survive, so it sought to carry its killer with it in any way, because it had pride and the fact, that a common man would kill it was a real disgrace that it could not allow to exist. And it was no longer the pride of a snake, but a creature that almost became a dragon.

"STOP RUNNING! MEET YOUR DEATH!"

"Of course, I'm running and falling," looking with a contemptuous grin into the eyes of a creature whose muzzle was approaching him at an incredible speed, Severus disappeared again. But to his surprise, as soon as he appeared near the fallen tree, the first thing he saw was a huge tail, which was about to print right into him.

But still, thanks to his reflexes honed over the years and armour that allowed him to move at incredible speed for a while, Severus stepped back rather quickly.

'Clever,' the young man thought with a grin, examining the fallen trees, to which the snake had been pushing him all this time, while leaving a small clean area, as if foreseeing that he would stop there, "And then we have a river ... I underestimated his intelligence."

"NOW DIE!" the serpent growled with anticipation, "Jump into the water and it will become your grave!"

"How naive you are …" the mocking tone of the man made the monster alert, "Don't you see that there is something better than water here …" and pushing off the ground, he jumped up, and then, as if leaning on something, he again jumped, and then again and again, as if pushing off the air, with every second the Snape rose higher and higher, "Although it is impossible to fly in this place, but who forbade jumping?"

"NOOO!" rushing up, the snake tried to bite him until he rose even higher, but the snake was stopped by a barrier that appeared right in front of the prey, which was already so close ... in its thoughts, it had already seemed to swallow and chew him, listening to the crunch of bones and screams of despair.

The Serpent, with a blank look, looked at the smiling man, who became farther and farther with every second, and the darkness slowly swallowed it... And with a roar, the snake crashed to the ground, raising a cloud of black dust into the air.

"Well, that's all, it's time to finish this business…" a small crimson fireball appeared in the Snape's hand, which gradually shrank until it was equal in size to a ping-pong ball, and then he lazily threw it down… The fireball fell rather slowly, which made the King of Treants, who was a few kilometres away from the battlefield, frown, but when the fireball finally encountered a snake, then in the next moment it began to increase sharply in size, absorbing everything around it and the snake was no exception.

But at the same time, there was no sound, there was only deathly silence, and if it were not for the huge temperature of the flame, the heat which even the tree monster felt on its territory and the plants that did not burn right before their eyes, the treant king would have thought that this was just an illusion.

And seeing everything "with its own eyes", the ancient tree felt real horror and at the same time happiness that it did not try to kill Severus, at the first meeting, when he saw the snake hiding under the mantle, and after, when he found out Snape's specialisation.

The flame burned brightly, for about a minute, until finally, in an instant, it disappeared, leaving behind only emptiness, because even the ashes could not withstand the enormous temperature of the fire.

All that was left of the snake was only its skeleton, which lay in the same place where it fell, which indicated that at the moment of combustion, it never woke up. "I'll take the skeleton, it's a good material for the sword."

"Where are his wings?"

"Most likely, they burned down in the same way, apparently they appeared only recently and did not have time to get stronger enough," Severus answered a little thoughtfully, flying closer to the treant king, "Satisfied?"

"Yes, I thank you for saving our kind, from this day on, you are the most welcome guest of the Treants, come back, I have already prepared the Heart, I am sure that my ancestor would be happy to give it to you, for such an act!" although its voice sounded very cheerful, full of gratitude, it was somehow unnatural, as if it was in a hurry somewhere.

"Old scoundrel," Severus looked at the root with a grin.

"What are you…"

"Do you want to grab yourself something that helped this snake evolve?"

"N-no, how can I?! I just wanted to reward you as soon as possible!" the Treant King tried to convince him, while its voice still trembled a little.

"Bad liar, I'll be back a little later, after I've explored the cave."

"Wait…" but before the tree had time to finish, the root burned down and the ashes scattered in the wind.

"Now no one will bother us," looking down at the skeleton, the Snape touched it and it disappeared in the next moment, "It's time to rob the lair of the snake, if there is still something that helped it, start its evolution into a dragon, then maybe it will also help you become stronger."

" I would like to become a man, and not turn into a dragon…" Nagini answered with indifference, and then leaning out from under his cloak, looked at him with a sly look, "And why do you need a second dragon?" "Oh-oh-oh, so you've figured out how to joke…" smiling, the young man turned his gaze to the cave, "I just became interested in how evolution would go and if everything worked out well and the snake became a dragon, then I could make you stronger, although a little and it's sad to lose a lamia, but still, half-dragons are also interesting creatures, as I heard, these ladies are very passionate in bed, they say that even ten men are not enough to satisfy such a woman …" the surging embarrassment through communication was so high that even a dwarve can get drunk on it.

"What are you talking about, you fucking pervert?!"

"Did I say it out loud?" with "surprise", Severus looked at her, while not even trying to pretend.

"I'm going to bite you for sure!"- Nagini was "sincerely" indignant, although it was easy to understand from emotions that she was just saying this for show.

"When you become a half-dragon, then bite wherever you want." With a wink at her, Snape looked to the left where the little house elf appeared with a box. "Sir, I poured ten buckets of hemostatic and general restorative potions into his mouth, and also smeared his entire body with anti-burn ointment, and then filled him with the same general restorative."

"Good job, put a strap on its face and body while you keep an eye on it. It definitely won't wake up anytime soon and you can also pour a weakening potion down its throat but no more than three buckets." stroking the house elf on her head, he added sternly at the end, from which her eyes shone, and at the same time, she looked at him with such adoration, that even Severus himself felt somehow uncomfortable, "Okay, Sir, Nellie will do as sir says." and Nellie jumped into the box.

Coughing several times and ignoring the smug look of Nagini, he calmly walked towards the cave.

Inside, as befits a snake's lair, it was quite gloomy and damp, while it was very deep and was a straight, slightly winding path, and the deeper they went down, the more narrower it became, until finally they got out into an open area, than - reminiscent of a canyon.

They stood at the very bottom of it, and there was only darkness ahead, but still, the Snape noticed chips on the stones and a trace on the grass, near a small waterfall falling from a high ledge and similar green areas all along the way, which was amazing and quite beautiful . "And here is the trace, and even with my eyesight...…"
