Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Every day I go to work before exactly 6 in the morning. With my coffee on the side and some relaxing music, I can feel myself having a lot of energy for today. It's always been this way since I live alone. I feel lonely sometimes, thinking that there's no excitement in my life and I'm a boring person; will someone like me someday? Or will I be growing old alone? Thinking like this, I remember the old man again.

They said that life is short and you need to cherish it, but how? How do you cherish life? Isn't everyone working, eating, and exercising? I don't get it at all, but I know they are right; I just maybe don't know how. There was a time when my colleague invited me to a drinking party, which I would like to attend, but I have some papers that need to be submitted by tomorrow, so I rejected him; he just patted me and said that he will invite me again next time. But since then, it didn't happen again until our company had a team-building event. My colleague and I became teammates and friends, and although I'm not talkative, he sure talks a lot. Even though I would just nod sometimes or say a few words, that was enough for him to continue. Having someone like him around makes a lot more difference in my day-to-day life than it used to.

Today is my day off, and I have a lot of leisure time, which is great. Every time I have a day off, I go to the grocery store to buy everything I need and cook some of my favorite delicacies to treat myself for two days. Today's weather is really good, and as I sit on my terrace savoring the moment, I take down everything I'm going to buy and cook for two days. I checked my watch, and it's already 9:30 in the morning, so I decided to walk to the grocery store. I feel better today that I can't stop myself from smiling every time I unintentionally make eye contact with a passerby, and I happened to unintentionally make eye contact with a beautiful lady, but it seems that it's not her day, so I immediately divert my eyes from her and continue to walk. After 15 minutes, I'm already here at my favorite grocery store because they already have everything, from food and beverages to kitchen tools. I first bought meat, two whole chickens, and vegetables, then condiments, etc. Then, of course, some beverages and liquor—a little alcohol in our body is not bad—and lastly snacks and noodles, I also stop by at wet market to buy live lobsters. It took me more than an hour, and it was already 11 a.m. when I came back home. Luckily, I bought some noodles, so I just cooked noodles with vegetables, cheese, and eggs for my lunch. I'm watching TV while lying on the couch, waiting to fall asleep; this is how I spend my day off. But while I am waiting to fall asleep, I receive a message from my friend in the company asking me out to drink with his friends. At first, I thought of rejecting him again, but then I remembered that, at that time, I was really busy, and today is our day off, so I don't have any reason to reject him again besides the fact that we are friends now (my only friend, to be specific), so I ask him where and when to meet instead. After he gives me the address, I turn off the TV and take a while since I'll have to meet him and his company by 6 p.

 ------

I am sitting at the bar now with my friend; I forgot to introduce him; his name is Mike; he is 175 cm tall, has a wide shoulder, blond hair, brown eyes, is friendly, and seems like the protagonist in a manga or anime, isn't he? Me, Mike, and his friends are still waiting for the others, so while we're waiting, Mike introduces me to his friends. Their names are Charles, Hazel, Cassandra, Rain, and Dani. We didn't wait long when they came, and then Dani talked to the manager and led us to the second floor. This is my first time going to a bar, and I didn't expect that you could reserve a private room, so I was surprised and thought that this was much better than with the crowd earlier.

The room is quite spacious; we can drink, eat, and sing all we want. Mike's friends are quite unique; I find out that Dani is the playful one together with Mike; Charles loves to joke around, and he is Cassandra's brother; Diana and Olivia are Cassandra's friends and workmates; and Bryan and Hazel are a couple. Everyone sings a song while drinking and having fun; I also sing when it's my turn and will talk to them from time to time. Everyone really gets along, but Olivia seems like the silent type. I look at Olivia for a moment because it feels like I've seen her before but I don't remember, which is weird after all, because she's really beautiful with those long black wavy hair, sharp blue eyes, a high nose, thin lips, her posture, and her aura. She's like a female lead president with that strong aura, so it's really impossible for me to forget if I saw her even once, but I really don't remember. While I was looking at her, our eyes met. I immediately looked away, then remembered that she's the one I saw this morning. This coincidence gave me chills, but in the end I decided not to talk to her. She's a beauty indeed, but I'm really not good at talking, especially with someone with a strong aura like her.

I checked my watch, and it's already midnight. I look around and find that some are already drunk, except for me, Mike, Cassandra, and Olivia. Mike and Cassandra try to wake up the others, but Dani only says that there's an available bed behind the curtain and they can be left there to sleep. In the end, Hazel sent Bryan home, and Mike will send us back with his car, but I told him that he doesn't need us and can just take the girls home, but Cassandra stops me.

"You can't just let Mike send us alone after all; he's still a man, and I think he's a little drunk." "It's dangerous for the two beauties to be with a drunk guy."

"Aren't I a man too?"

"Yeah, but you're not drunk, and besides, Mike won't be your friend if you're a bad guy."

"You're good with your words,"

"Of course",

"Ehem, I'm not drunk, and I'm just here beside you."

"Mike, if you can't drive, just tell us,"

"Why? Will you drive?"

"No",

"I'll drive",

"That's right! I remember Olivia having a license.

"Alright ladies, I'm not drunk and I can still drive. My friend, how about you just get in the car so they can be at ease? and Olivia, you can sit here in the front seat so when I feel like I can't drive any more, you can take over."

"No thanks, I'm fine here; just let your friend sit there,"

"Alright",

I noticed that while in the car, Mike kept looking at Olivia. I hope he's not thinking anything bad. Cassandra might have noticed too, so she talked to Mike.

"Mike, it's not good if you keep blatantly looking at my friend; it's disrespectful."

"I'm sorry; I just can't help but look." "Even my friend might be looking at her after all; she's really pretty."

"Oh, you're wrong; your friend over there looks busy with something else."

Mike looked at me with a questioning look. I look at them and explain.

"I'm just sleepy, so I'm distracting myself; Mike just focus on driving, and I think you should apologize properly." Mike looked at me then brushed his hair backward; he looked at Olivia and sincerely apologized, even to Cassandra.

I'm actually listening to music while browsing about desserts on Google, because as long as Mike doesn't cross the line, I won't do anything, and this girls seems difficult to deal with even if he has ideas.
