Chapter 19: Masquerade of Flames 2

"All I see are memories. I have no idea what you're thinking about, but I know what you are feeling. You are not Talulah!" Amiya boldly exclaimed as she pointed at Talulah(?).

"I'd suggest you watch your words, Cautus!" Talulah shouted in reply as she waved a significantly bigger blade of flame in Amiya's direction. Luckily, Zhongli's shield was enough to protect us from the flames, which were hot enough to melt the metal surrounding us.

"What a joke, the killer of Buldrokkas'tee hiding behind the shield of another," Fake Talulah mocked as she summoned several blades of flames in rapid succession.

"I've already seen enough," Rimuru murmured as he rushed towards the fake Talulah. Rimuru's whole body transformed into a massive blue blob, barely being resisted by the raging infernos of Talulah. However, Rimuru's slime body was winning over the flame.

"Stop! Rimuru, Talulah-" Amiya shouted. However, she was interrupted before she could finish her sentence.

"Don't, Rimuru won't do that," Zhongli said, leaving Amiya with a conflicted expression.

From what I've gathered, it seems that some sort of Duke is possessing Talulah after she killed the Duke. Ch'en somehow has relations to Talulah and Amiya as some secret boss. This was a mess.

Talulah's flames raged enough to pierce a hole in the roof of the room, but they quickly died down as Rimuru consumed her, albeit a little too easily.

After Rimuru ate Talulah, he turned around and looked at us with new red eyes.

Did he get possessed?

Before I could question the change in eye colour, Rimuru spat Talulah's body out of his stomach and collapsed. I immediately rushed to catch Rimuru whilst Ch'en rushed towards Talulah with her sword in hand.

"He's…" Amiya muttered with wide eyes as she looked at Rimuru.

"We would rather you… not include what you saw in your reports. How about a contract to make everything here confidential? Killer of his kin, relative of Talulah?" Zhongli said as a scroll of paper and a quill appeared out of nowhere. It seemed like they wanted to hide their nicknames, so it was good leverage to make them sign the contract.

"I no longer associate with the LGD, so I don't care about this. I'd rather die than give anything useful to that rotten man," Ch'en replied with an irritated tone as she laid the unconscious Talulah on the ground to grab the quill from Zhongli's hands.

"I had a feeling your group was unnatural. Although I don't know what kind of power you have to enforce this contract, seeing the power of your comrade… You're at least better than that old man," Ch'en reluctantly said as she signed the contract in Zhongli's hand after reading its terms.

"If Madame Ch'en signed it as well… You are also our business partner, so I will trust you" Amiya nervously said as she picked up the quill from Ch'en and signed the contract in Zhongli's hands.

"With this, a contract is set in stone. Breach of this contract will result in Divine punishment," Zhongli said as the contract disappeared into thin air. What happened to hiding our powers again? Oh well, I guess.

"This should be-" Amiya tried to say, but she was once again interrupted by the glass of the control tower being shattered.

"The battle was over before I even arrived. This was unexpected. Anyways, give me that thing if you want to stop the city!" A white-haired horned woman that entered through the window said as she pointed towards the key that Ch'en picked up from Talulah's body. What did she mean by stopping the city?

"W? Where did you come from? Either way, I can't trust an enemy that has killed my Rhodes Island friends!" Amiya declared as she readied her arts. Everyone in the room tensed up from Amiya's words as they readied their weapons.

"Well, what can I do to make you trust me? You can read my heart, right? I'll let you read it even though I would blow up anyone who tries to. It doesn't matter if you don't trust me. I'd trust that Theresa's successor isn't incompetent," W hurriedly said, making Amiya look at her in surprise.

"How about this, after the city stop I'll give you an ultra, limited-time offer to hit me once and try to kill me? Super limited offer!" W said in a panicked voice.

"I can't trust a killer," Ch'en said with suspicion.

"Then you can't trust yourself," W snapped back.

"Fair," Ch'en replied with a nod as she lowered her weapon.

"W, tell me one more thing I can trust," Amiya questioned as she prepared her arts.

"That… uh, Amiya! For this land… to fall into a peaceful slumber," W replied with her hands raised. Amiya looked at W for a second before she undid her arts and walked towards W.

"I'll trust you this once," Amiya said as she dropped the keys into W's hands, the latter looked like she was playing hot potato.

"I don't know what you guys are panicking about, but with Reunion's true mastermind gone, our job is done here," I said as I picked up Rimuru from the ground. We were out of place here.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Goodbye! Now, where is the input key…" W responded as she searched the control panel of the tower.

I trusted Amiya to deal with Talulah. Now, the main concern was with Rimuru.

"My world has techniques to detect and remove possessions. I will leave with Rimuru now. Is there anything else you need, Clukay?" Zhongli asked as I handed Rimuru over to him at the bottom of the tower.

"I technically don't have a home now, so I'll just freeload at Rhodes Island for a while. I'll wait for Amiya to go down from the control tower. Take care," I replied as I watched Zhongli pull out his phone. After paying for both his and Rimuru's trip to his world, Zhongli and Rimuru disappeared in a blinding white flash.

"Now, I'm all alone again. Amiya said she'll take Talulah to Rhodes Island, so I can ask my questions when she wakes up," I muttered as I leaned against a nearby wall, waiting for Amiya to deal with whatever it was up there. Something about

Stopping a city?

"Perhaps, rather than wasting my brain power, I should plan for my next food debate," I muttered to myself as I stopped trying to wrap my head around the situation.
