Chapter 8: Chapter 8 God's Gift
Before finishing the preparation the Novices introduce themselves in an orderly manner to the newly joined pair. The Novices age range is somewhere between 17-20 years old while Cleo and Leah are 16 and 15 respectively.
Cleo made a mental note of their names just in case they stumble upon them in the future. The Novices names are Greg, Lisa, Ralph, Steven and Troy.
"Are you both siblings?" asked by Lisa. She has a blonde hair and a petite body.
Leah raises one of her eyebrow upon hearing the question before answering in an assertive manner. "No w-were not! Cleo is my lover!"
"Chill Lady! I'm just asking since both of you have the same hair and eye color." replied by Lisa.
Before the situation escalates Cleo interrupted their conversation and tried to change the subject.
"We get that a lot. You can call it fate I guess?" Cleo shrugged.
Hearing the answer of his darling. Leah calms herself up and cling tighter to Cleo's left arm.
"If you don't mind me asking what are your God's Gift its okay if you don't want to answer." Cleo followed and tried to sounds casual as much as possible.
Before Lisa can answer the question.
"God's Gift!? As if ordinary people like us have those. Only a few chosen individual have them and according to the public library in this Kingdom there are only 3 of them exist and all of them are Guild Leaders of their respected Guilds." answered by Ralph a slender looking boy that has a pair of glasses.
With this newly found information Cleo make a mental note to never ask for this question again in the future and hide that both of them have God's Gift to avoid unnecessary attention.
The group continue to casually have a conversation the topic changes every now and then. It mostly focus on the newly joined pair. Some of the Novices are envious of Cleo since they themselves wants a childhood friend sweet heart. As for Lisa she just admires how Leah can nonchalantly flirts with Cleo.
Their conversation get cut short by Christoff signaling that they arrived at the outskirts of the Kobold Settlement. The party turn silent when they saw Christoff's hand signal.
The Kobold Settlement consist of roughly set up tents surrounded by a wall that made with spike shaped wood that are held together by a rope. Some Kobolds can be seen cooking some sort of soup in a cauldron on top of a bonfire. Some of them are sharpening their wooden spears with a sharp stone.
Christoff then proceed to explain their plan to the group. While him and Valerie draw the attention of the Kobolds the rest of them will stand behind them, provide support and kill the weaken Kobolds.
"Remember Kobolds move in packs so make sure not to detach from our formation. Don't worry too much and just focus on killing the Kobolds. Christoff and I will activate our Sacred Shield to soak up damage you receive but don't make this an excuse to slack off we will watch your performance as well if you are worthy to join the SwordSaints Guild" says by Valerie as a last reminder before they proceed with the raid.
"Goodluck Novices! Show us what's your worth!" says by Christoff with an encouraging voice.
(Skill Encyclopedia - Sacred Shield - This is one of the basic skill Crusader learn once they successfully change their job from Swordsman. It transfer the damage your party receive to yourself. The skill doesn't uses mana as long as you have more than 10% health the skill can stay activated. This skill is one of the reason why Crusader is one of the best class to assist Novices.)
