Chapter 6: A Gift From A Stranger

Jeffrey and Philip arrived at the arcade in no time and Philip ended up complaining that the distance was too short because he had been reading his comic and wasn't done.

Philip sighed and kept his comic back in Jeffery's bag before they went in, then he led Jeffrey directly to the new game.

It was an underwater game played with reality goggles, it was about killing sea monsters to take back a golden scepter that would drop after the final boss was killed and the final boss was a giant golden see horse able to switch sizes and also having a natural affinity with water. It was pretty fun but Jeffrey didn't like it very much.

Philip did not give up though and instead took him to play 'evil spy'. A shooting game that brought out Jeffrey's frightening precision. The mission was always random and this time they had to sneak in to kill the president's wife and escape without being caught. Jeffrey's shot were always one hit kill, through the brain, even Philip sometimes felt chill run down his spine when he saw Jeffrey blow brains out without bating an eyelid. The first time he played the game with Jeffrey he had ended up throwing up and entire lunch.

"And this is why I hate playing that game with you, I always feel like a total noob, it not fair on me" Philip groaned as they walked out of the arcade.

Not even a minute later, someone walked up to them. "Hello, someone asked me to give you this" the boy said handing Jeffrey a small boxed.

"Who?" Jeffrey stared at the box confused. He knew no one in the viewers dimension except Philip and Philip wouldn't play such a prank, at least not on him.

"He was an old guy, he pointed at you, you're Jeffrey right?" the boy asked again.

Jeffrey was even more surprised. He raised his eyebrow and looked behind the boy searching for the said old man but couldn't find anyone that fit the description. "What is his name?"

The boy shrugged indicating he had no idea. "He said to open it when you're alone" after saying that the boy left.

"You didn't tell me you had another friend here" Philip said giving him an apprehensive look.

"If I had one you would have known" Jeffrey frowned he hated this feeling, not knowing what was going on. 'Who is it?'

Jeffrey's rest of the afternoon was ruined by the incident and even Philip could tell his mind was occupied so after hanging out for a bit, they parted ways with Philip promising to visit next weekend.

* * *

When Jeffrey arrived home the house was empty, fortunately he had his keys with him. Throughout the afternoon his mind was itching to find out what was inside the box.

So after getting to his room he locked the door from behind. Even he couldn't explain the reason for his strange behavior or it could have been he did not notice he was behaving strangely.

After he open the box, he saw a book with two locks that seemed to be already unlocked. The strangest thing was the pattern of the lock. It looked familiar but Jeffrey could swear he had not seen it before.

Since the book was already unlocked he opened it with a little bit of suspense but to his shock, there was nothing, the pages were empty. Jeffrey was confused, who was this mystery person and why would he give him a plain book?

Jeffrey paced about trying to think of a reasonable explanation until he felt the weight of the book lighten in his hand, only then did he notice that the book was disintegrating.

Jeffrey did not feel spooked but instead observed the book till it disappeared completely. At the end nothing happened to his disappointment.

"Am I at the receiving end of a joke? no that can't be, I would have noticed a crack in the boy's expression and no intelligent being would play a prank across dimensions" he mumbled to himself and sighed. He had ended his day with Philip quickly because of a book that turned out to be nothing.

Bored with nothing to do, he searched for a book to read on webnovel. 'Reincarnation Of An Elf In The Modern World' by Little-Chibi.

He knew the author, it was his sister's rival or to put it bluntly, they hated each other but Jeffrey liked her books it was simple but with fresh ideas. This was actually her first book under the reincarnation genre and he was curious about how it would turn out.

Her last book 'Mighty Caleb' was a fan favorite and had ranked up to 8 million views. It was about a prince looked down upon because he had bowlegs. His journey to becoming the king was both funny and exciting. They was no medicine to cure this ailment and after sometime he stopped caring and then became the only ruler ever had bowlegs.

Jeff first read the synopsis and it was interesting at least. He then started reading the book.

Nala was the name main character. An elf who had no knowledge of humans, she had died in battle an after being reincarnated was completely lost. She had no knowledge of reincarnation either so with no family an absolutely nowhere to go her story began. Two things remained with her after her reincarnation, her incredible precision and her affinity with nature.

Just three chapters and Jeffrey was sold, completely losing track of time. It had never happened before not even when he was reading his favorite book but this time he got sucked into this book, literally.
