Chapter 4: The New Queen
Venus discovered that becoming a spectator is the simplest way to survive in a competitive or even mediocre environment. The new queen was experiencing a power trip. She summoned all the concubines to her vast east tower hall. Everyone was dressed to impress, obviously in order to compete with the queen. The jewels they were wearing were so brilliant that they nearly blinded her. People were more concerned with their clothing and appearance than with their personalities.
Lilet told her that the king was in a campaign to the South East of the kingdom. The queen was appointed through a royal decree but the ceremony would takes place when the king arrived. He left the palace, a day after their wedding ceremonies. She chose a very simple white gown. No embellishment, just simple cut but hugged her body and showed huge part of her skin. It has long slit that reached her upper thigh, the low cut and sleeveless style displayed her cleavage and toned flawless arms. She just wore white gold dangling pear earrings and instead of tying her hair just like before, she let it down. The silken golden strands were striking among the dark-haired ladies in the hall. The women were looking down at her and she didn't care.
She smirked as she was led to the corner. Only Leyna approached her, and she was overjoyed when she invited her to join her at the corner. Every woman was lavishing the queen with compliments. She had to admit that the dark exotic beauty was stunning. She was ushered to her designated seat by the queen's maids after she gave the queen a courtesy protocol
She was the first to greet the queen, and she can see disappointment, if not greater disappointment, on her face. She realized she had given no gifts for her coronation. As the women whispered behind her back, it made a bad impression on her. The queen's family was also powerful in the East and in the South, they dominated and monopolized everything on that part. Her mother died when she was a little as the former king, the new king's grandfather punished her for being a witch. Lilet told her that the king's father was not fond of the queen. Her father and the queen's father were mortal enemies.
She was here to live comfortably and she didn't want the queen to turn her attention on her because of the damn gifts. She directed Lilet to retrieve her cargo of silks, gems, and jewels from her spaceship's stockroom. They were eating when her gifts arrived; Luke, her android handsome fighter, delivered them to the queen. She smirked when Luke,whose name came from her favorite Star Wars character, delivered a startling speech to the queen.
He bowed first, "Your Majesty, Her Highness, Venus La Vandeer and her father Lord Zealoth offered you these gifts with heartfelt congratulation on your coronation. Please accept our simple gifts on this memorable occasion." Luke bowed again and stood straight like a snappy soldier. He was creating havoc with the ladies. Leyna was gawking at his handsomeness. He created her with physical perfection, every woman's dream man. She programmed him with physical and charming prowess. She forgot to delete his flirting program because when he approached her, he made a wink to her and Leyna. The girl giggled.
The new queen appeared pleased with her lavish gifts. As the ceremony progressed, she became bored. They had planned a traditional dance, poetry about the queen's clan, and some dull songs. It was impolite to sleep during the ceremony, so she excused herself and told Leyna she needed to use the privy. She was the only woman who didn't bring maids with her. All the women brought their maids some of them a lot.
"Do you think there's a secret place here in the east tower?" she asked Lilet through her communication device that was also her earring. Lilet was in her tower supervising the robot cleaner cleaning her room. They didn't want anyone see the robot cleaners. She took a dry bath on her spacecraft, Lilet can transfer her to her spacecraft using a beam transport or teleport in just a matter of seconds.
"The hallway was connected to the king's tower," Lilet said using the GPS built on her head. "I don't want to meet with the king right now. Is there any secret passage that will be exciting?" she asked again. "Turn right, then left and press the marble stone of a different color," she instructed. She followed her instruction and the sliding huge brick door opens.
She went through the passage and opened another door. She smiled when she saw her surrounding, the door led to a secret garden. A beautiful garden. She looks around and laughed when she saw that her favorite vine fruit that can only be found in the north. But there's only one fruit and it was so far away from her, the vines climbed the wall and the fruit was hanging up there.
She sighed and went to the balcony, this garden was located to the highest tower in the palace. She looked down and saw the water down and on the right side was the road downhill to the to the city.
She turned and about to return to the queen's party when she decided to take the fruit first. She groaned when she looked at her attire, how can she climb? She grinned when she remembered no one was here as she ordered Lilet scanned the place. She can't climb with her attire but she can jump high to get the fruit. She can even stay in the air for minutes, which she did.
She picked up the fruit and went to the wooden swing as she started to devour the sour fruit. She moaned when she took a huge bite and the juice ran to her chin up to her bare neck. It was sticky but she didn't care, she was focused on how to finish the fruit. After she finished the fruit, she closed her eyes and smiled contentedly as she moved the swing.
"Someone is stealing my valued fruit in my garden, " a man's deep voice made her eyes open. The man was still wearing his battle gears, with long beard, long messy dark hair inside his battle helmet.
"I just saved the fruit's purpose," she said. The man laughs, "and what's the fruit's purpose?" he asked, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "To be eaten and not to let it become rotten. A warrior wanted to die in a battle rather than his bed, don't you think?' she asked.
"You're right but still you stole my fruit," he insisted. "Actually, the fruit was not delicious, sour and bitter," she replied. The man laughed heartily again. "Your sticky face and neck gave you away daenrah," he said. He called her a goddess of ethereal beauty. His gaze went down to her bare neck and cleavage then to her bare legs that were on display because the slit widened.
He made an angry loud growl. The man really valued the fruit, she said to herself. "All right," she said as she tried to be diplomatic. "I will send a message to my father to send me that fruit, lots of it. I can even give you seedlings to plant. I am sorry if I ate the forbidden fruit in your garden," she said. He must be one of the generals, she said to herself.
"Are you the king's general?" she asked. The man raised his brow and his face showed amusement but he didn't say a word. "You know what, you are rude and boring just like the king," she remarked.
She turned and walked away but the man asked her, "where do you think you're going?" he asked. She sighed and was losing her patience, "to the south tower, you can't punish me because of the damn fruit," she said.
"Oh yes I can, the king will punish anyone who eats his favorite fruit," he said. Then Venus went still, she looked intently on his face. She realized she bad mouthed the king and took his favorite fruit. She heard the king was barbaric and unreasonable at times.
She cleared her throat and started to become diplomatic. "I apologize for the fruit alright? I will come here tomorrow and bring fruits. As for my earlier remarks, it was not intentional. That was my first impression of him and my opinion didn't matter. I am just a palace maid," she said.
The man chuckled, "a palace maid indeed." He again laughed, "I won't tell the king you are the culprit why his favorite fruit is missing. I won't tell either that you called him boring and rude. Is your mistress not invited to the queen's banquet. Why are you wandering here?"
"Oh, yeah, she's invited. I just got bored and it's rude to sleep while they perform. Thank you for understanding warrior, I will return here tomorrow same time and bring lots of fruits," she said.
"You got bored? And left your mistress?" he asked incredulously.
"Yes, she's very understanding and generous. The kindest woman." she said referring to herself and she grinned when the man laughed again.
She continued, "you know the king and his new queen were really compatible. They're both boring," she said as she turned to the door and left. She still heard his laughter as she walked away.
