Chapter 5: The Exterminator
"Are you saying, the damn fruit is not available in the north right now?" she asked Lilet.
"Yes, it was past harvest time, and it's now autumn. All of the fruits have already been transported to various parts of the kingdom," Lilet explained.
She groaned in frustration; she is a woman of one word, and she promised the warrior. "Do you remember the warrior I met in the garden? Tell me about him," she demanded.
Lilet came to a halt, as if analyzing the data inside her head "He was one of the finest general, he recently led the troop into victory over rogues in the west. He just got back today."
"Can you tell me his name? "
"I need to do some research first, people called him exterminator. He's the most fearsome warrior in the kingdom."
"No wonder he was the king's favorite warrior," she concluded and sighed. I need to go out tonight, and I'll bring Luke with me," she stood up. "Get my clothes and weapons ready," she said. She needed to go to the market and hoped to find the special fruit that had gotten her into trouble.
Lilet led her and Luke into one of the night market's dark alleys. She was dressed simply as a maid, and her hair was hidden behind a veil She didn't want to draw attention to herself. But she forgot to consider that Luke has perfect physical features that women admire. Women with their escorts cast a second glance at them, especially at Luke.
She made Luke ask for the fruits, and after a few hours. He flirted with vendors and one of them was eager to please him as she told him that the storehouse that stocks seasonal fruits was located behind the garment store. If properly stored, the fruit can be kept for up to six months.
However, the merchant who owned the store house refused to sell the fruit. She made an extravagant offer that was three times the original price, and he only accepted two. Lilet informed her that her storehouse was stocked with seasonal fruit like she was looking for. She smirked, thinking that only in her world could there be a hoarder, a greedy businessman who sabotaged the economy. She took the two overpriced fruits and told Lilet to take the rest of the fruits inside the merchant's storehouse. Lilet can accomplish this in a matter of seconds using beam transport.
She roamed the market and explored after her purpose for having to come outside the palace was completed. She discovered a house at the end of a walk street with numerous wheeled vehicles outside. Many of them were extravagant, such as the one in front of her, which bears wolf insignia. It denotes that it is a royal vehicle.
She attempted to enter, but the guard was uncooperative. Unless she's a woman of the night, only Luke is allowed inside. Her curiosity won, and she wanted to know how the whoring happened in this location. Lilet transported her to her spacecraft and disguised herself by changing her clothes. She went from golden to auburn, added freckles, and changed the color of her eyes to brown. Her silver gown was revealing, exposing her flat belly and a large portion of her upper breasts as her bra pushed them upward. Her lips were bloody red, and she laughed when she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror.
When the guard let them in, she grinned at Luke, and the guard's gaze wandered over her body.As it lingered on her bare breasts, he swallowed painfully. Instead of being annoyed, she smiled seductively at him.
When she turned to look inside, she noticed how the men became immobile as they stared at her. Many of them hung their jaws open with their open mouths. When they entered, she heard noises and gay laughter, but now there is complete silence. It was as if the world had come to a halt in front of her.
But some of them caught themselves and began to walk towards her. But they came to a halt when they heard a loud growl from somewhere. It was dark where the sound came from, and she couldn't see the man who growled, causing all the men to stop.
These men were terrified of the man, she thought. Two warriors from the dark where the man made a growling noise approached her with the intent of bringing her to their master. As she approached, she raised her hand and motioned for them not to touch her. She took a seat in front of the man. Luke had been taken away from her. She wasn't concerned about Luke; he's a machine who can kill these men with his weapon but only on her orders.
"What brings you here, maid? " a familiar voice from the darkness said.
"How do you know it's me?' she asked surprised.
"I can smell you and even if you disguise like a man I can still recognize you."
"Wow! That's a talent."
"Answer me," he demanded.
Why Mr. Exterminator? You're the shadowy figure who everyone fears.
"Well, I'm here because I want to be," she said.
This place is not for a maid like you," he replied with an edge on his voice.
"You know what? I hate double standard," she said
"Explain," the exterminator demanded, as if he didn't understand what she was saying, which he didn't. The term was never used and was never put into practice in this world.
"It means that whatever a man can do, a woman can do," she explained. "You can't," he said firmly.
"Try me," she replied in defiance.
The man growled again that made the men turned to them. She smiled and waved her hand to them like a celebrity. "Don't do that," he ordered.
She sighed, "okay big man, the fruits the king wants are in the garden right now. Hundreds of them in exchange for a one fruit I took," she said.
"Can you tell me where you got those fruits? Northerners brought their fruits here before winter," he explained. "The merchants hid them inside one of the storehouses. I bought two overpriced crap, but I promised you many, and the man refused to negotiate."
"You say there are a hundred fruits in the king's garden? And the merchant refused to bargain with you? " he asked.
She gave a nod.
"And where did you get the fruits? " he inquired once more.
"Of course, inside his storehouse, without his knowledge. Don't worry, I've left plenty of gold coins.
"That man was a hoarder and a thief," she remarked.
The exterminator laughed loudly, causing the men to come to a halt as they looked at them. Their faces were etched with fascination.
"And what do you call yourself maid?" he asked.
"I'm just an ordinary maid who tried to buy the fruits legally but the greedy merchant won't let me, so I resorted to force buying. I am not at all like him. "I am a compelled purchaser."
One of the women who dress almost nothing went to their table. There are some familiarity between the warrior and the woman as the woman sat on his lap. Venus felt the urge to snatch the girl from him and pushed her away from the exterminator.
She shook her head as she tried to put away her thoughts and the rising emotions inside her. "Do you have some good entertainment here?" she asked the woman. The woman smiled at her seductively as she touched her face softly. She flinched, she didn't like the way the woman touched her like she wanted to have sex with her.
She caught the woman's hand and clasped it firmly like an iron clad. The woman groaned in pain. "You can look but you can't touch me. I belong to someone else," she warned. The woman nodded and she released her.
When she turned, the exterminator smirked at her like he likes what she said. She ignored him and then some music instruments started to play. Three women including the woman who was with the exterminator went to the center and started to sway their hips. So belly dancing was ancient, she told herself.
When a server, served some drinks, she asked for some. She scowled when the server looked at the man in front of her as if asking for permission. She sighed with relief and grinned when he nodded. The drinks tasted like some hard liquor. Her throat was burning like it was on fire and there's a bitter aftertaste. But like any other alcoholic drinks, it tasted good after the first try.
Then in her vague consciousness, she found herself at the center, dancing her way like a stripper which she had practiced before her first mission to assassinate a Mafia Alpha in her world.
