Chapter 92: A Raid?

(Third Person Pov)

"Why am I paired up with these two?" Daniel grumbled while Elara was wary of Crimson Phantom, aka, now named Luna, keeping her distance.

Alfred simply gave an awkward laugh, he was working as the person peacemaker between Noah, Luna, and Daniel, Elara.

"Alfred, is this really okay?"

Noah asked he was standing at the far back along with his team.

"What do you mean?"

"You are really an idiot" Noah sighed and Alfred squinted his eye waiting for Noah to continue

"It's not even been 3 hours. To make teams, formulate a plan ...taking action for an organization that's been around here for so long and is some sort of an actual big shot. I just think it just seems to be a bit too hasty... and there's no S- or above with us."

Noah couldn't help but find the entire thing weird. Even criminals make their plans for days and go through training drills of the same repeated actions before launching their raids. He knew from experience.

After all, things like this weren't some joke.

"The commander is an SS- ranker. Honestly, he can go there by himself and topple everything up if he wants to. So, you don't need to worry about it too much."

Noah looked towards the feminine voice that had answered.

The woman had long pointy ears, proof of her being an Elf. She had silver hair flowing down her waist and her oceanic-colored eyes looking at Noah's party.

True Heroes, were people where Elves, Humans, Dwarves, Vampires, and Demons all worked together for a single cause of keeping the peace and resolving conflicts that happens inside and outside of the dungeon.

In that sense, they were more like the Worldwide Peace Agency that worked inside the dungeon.

Of course, it didn't change the fact that there were also agencies that only catered to their own kind in the dungeon.

"That so? Why doesn't he go alone then? Would save us the risk of losing anyone"

"It's to help train the newbies. You shouldn't worry about it" the Elf shrugged.

Newbies...?

Noah thought.

"You don't seem to be a newbie though. Why are you joining?"

"Every team needs someone to guide them, a team completely made up of newbies would be a bit too much," The Elf said and then started the roll call that she had come for.

"Noah, Alfred, Crimson Phantom, Elara, Daniel, all present. Are you all sure you are in perfect condition? We will be departing soon enough."

Elara was the name of the reporter and Daniel was the name of the person who had brought her along with him.

They all nodded and the Elf left.

"Does that answer all your questions?" Alfred asked

Noah simply gave a reluctant nod and for waiting, soon the moment came, the Commander took the stage and began speaking.

"Remember, the people we need to save today aren't just some hostages or victims, they are someone's loved one, someone's child, someone's hope. Our mission isn't just to strike a blow against the enemy but to bring justice to those who have suffered! Stick to the formation, trust your teammates, and execute the plan flawlessly. Throughout it all I want you all to stay focused and sharp! Give your everything! And don't you dare die!"

Hearing those words of their commander they all roared.

There are 20 teams each consisting of 5 members or so.

Noah's team is supposed to be providing support to other teams.

...And soon everyone began to move to put Viper organization to an end.

I know it's an entire year early. The protagonist enters this dungeon in the 2nd year but even so ...are they an organization that could be used as some training dummies for the newbies?

Noah knew the answer to his question, he knew it the moment Brandon had shown himself.

They aren't and that's something the commander should know very well about.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

"Damn it!"

"Damn it all!"

The woman shouted at the top of her lungs, her voice hoarse, her eyes on the verge of tears.

She was sitting in a wheelchair in a small room that she had rented out for a month.

"What am I supposed to do now...?" She asked no one in particular, her voice feeble, trembling.

She had flown over to another continent, The Floating Island, the continent where Elves live, she had used all her money to come here and rent the room for a month.

All her savings were exhausted.

She no longer had a single penny to spend and she had no way of earning any either.

There's a saying that when people are desperate, they become able to do things that are beyond them, they can go past their limits and by doing so they end up doing something incredible.

The woman had done something incredible as well.

Before deciding to come here, she had spent the entirety of the month reading various articles, and rumors, tales, and discussions about strange things on various and weird sites over the internet.

And by combining it all, she had narrowed down the location of the hidden dungeon and now by coming here herself, she had confirmed that she was right on the mark.

All that was left was for her to enter the dungeon.

But when she tried to a message appeared before her.

[Sorry but you cannot enter the dungeon alone. There should be at least be 2 people to enter the dungeon"]

That's how her plan had completely shattered.

She had planned to enter the dungeon, clear it, and then enter the dungeon where she had collected some money and go back to her home.

And now ...well, she has no money on her.

She had risked everything on this one bet.

It wasn't hard for her to guess what was going to happen to her once the month ended. With no money, she won't be able to pay her rent or go back home within the time limit of her stay on this continent.

Is this karma?

She wondered.

Truth was, she had come here with the thought that if she failed to clear the hidden dungeon, then the place that would blow up and the people that would die would be Elves and she was okay with that.

And now, the chance that she would simply become a Slave to some Elve or be in prison in Elven jail was higher than any other possibility.

She had thought about killing herself, after all, she was in essence prepared to go to the hidden dungeon alone, she wasn't even that high-ranked. The chances of her clearing it and coming out alive according to the common sense of this world was nothing but impossible.

In other words, she would definitely die.

But the thing was, she was a coward. Facing death while it comes towards you and walking towards your death are two different things.

She had hope ignited in her when she saw the silhouette of the boy with black hair in the Nealite.

She had gathered the courage to go into the dungeon after realizing someone who was just a kid had cleared one.

She somehow managed to climb the bed on her own and lay down on it, she didn't have any friends, family, or anyone she could ask for help.

Once she had become crippled they had all slowly drifted away from her, she was a burden to them and their life and it wasn't like she could ask for help from anyone on this continent.

If she does, the chances of them reporting her and the location of the hidden dungeon are simply much higher.

She gritted her teeth in frustration, feeling lost, and alone.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

"He will come, I am sure he will. When that time comes consume him."

He commanded and he listened on his knees, trembling, cowering in fear as he nodded, prepared to go against what he had been told.
