Chapter 133: Avengers Improved 1
"Jack, I'm not suspicious of you, but are you sure you were able to recreate the Super Soldier Serum? I heard that many scientists have tried to recreate it and every time they had serious side effects," said Steve as he looked at Bruce.
"The Super Soldier Serum is dangerous if not recreated correctly, I became the Hulk when one of those attempts failed, but Jack is a genius. If he said he succeeded, I believe him," said Bruce.
"I also believe that Jack was able to do it. I improved the initial formula of the Extremis virus many years ago, but it still had many side effects. I don't know if I would be able to make it without any side effects, but Jack surely can," said Tony.
The two knew Jack's secret, that he had hundreds of clones who were always studying to learn more about science and engineering, so Tony and Bruce didn't think anyone had more knowledge about science than Jack.
They also knew that Jack was a genius, and combining these things, it was not so surprising that Jack could recreate the Super Soldier Serum that was made in World War II and remove the side effects of the Extremis virus.
"Well, you guys are geniuses. If you're sure about this, I won't say anything else. I agree to keep this a secret from the Avengers. Governments around the world have been trying for many years to create an army of Super Soldiers," said Steve.
"I'll explain to those who didn't understand what I meant earlier. The Super Soldier Serum is what made Steve a strong man with abilities at the peak of human capacity. Of course, he's Captain America because of his great character and leadership abilities. That's why he was chosen to be the first Super Soldier," said Jack.
Thus the other Avengers understood what this meant. Natasha, who had received a much worse version of the Super Soldier Serum, knew how she was more capable than other ordinary people.
Clint Barton was much happier to hear this because he would finally not be the weakest in the group, with his shooting ability and the strength of a Super Soldier, he would be a true Avenger.
"The Extremis virus is something that can also greatly increase someone's strength and speed, but the main effect is to greatly increase someone's regenerative capacity, in the future you may lose an arm and regenerate it again," said Jack.
As Jack researched, the Extremis virus could allow someone's skin to resist bullets and have a great defense, an increase in physical strength and speed, the person could spit fire and use electrical attacks, and people with this Extremis virus could live for over 300 years.
But Jack, unfortunately, had to weaken the amazing effects, because these powerful effects meant that the success rate was only 2.5% of humanity with an adequate genetic sequence.
So Jack had the idea to weaken the Extremis virus while maintaining incredible healing and regeneration capabilities, but it would reduce the increase in lifespan, physical strength, speed, and the ability to spit fire and use electrical attacks.
Thus, Jack could still increase the strength and speed of the Avengers using the Super Soldier Serum. If it weren't for these limitations, Jack may not need to give the Super Soldier Serum to the Avengers.
As for the increase in life expectancy, some Avengers may not like it, and Jack could still give the Elixir of Life to the Avengers in the future, which is why Jack had to work so hard. But at least the benefits were incredible and without any drawbacks.
No one could take this Extremis virus away from the Avengers in the future and the improvement was permanent. Jack was only worried about what would happen to Johnny and Peter, if they were okay, the others would be okay too.
The Avengers certainly liked knowing that they could have more survival capacity and become stronger. Clint and Natasha were happy about this, and Natasha thought Jack was doing this because of her.
"We'll draw to see who starts, for the Super Soldier Serum I'll need to use my magic to provide energy for the transformation, so it may take a few days for everyone to use the Super Soldier Serum," said Jack.
"I created the Extremis virus to work together with the Super Soldier Serum, so everyone can use it after they have the Serum. Unlike the Serum, the Extremis virus will only take 30 minutes to complete the transformation," said Jack.
Soon the Avengers drew lots, and Peter Parker was chosen to be the first. Jack told Peter he had decided not to use the Super Soldier Serum, as the increase in strength, speed, and endurance wouldn't be very useful for Spider-Man. Instead, only the Extremis virus would be applied to him.
Jack applied the Extremis virus to Peter with an applicator that had several small needles, injecting it behind Peter's head. Peter felt pain only when the applicator touched his skin. Jack was using his medical Chakra to ensure Peter felt no pain, and he saw Peter's muscles and internal organs being reconstructed gently. It was less aggressive than the Extremis virus from the comics.
When the transformation was almost complete, Peter began spitting up blood and dirt that was in his body before the transformation. Jack had already prepared a bucket and saw dirt coming out of Peter's pores.
Eventually, the transformation was complete. Peter now had a vastly improved healing factor, and his endurance had also been enhanced. His life expectancy had also increased somewhat. The transformation wasn't as significant because Peter's body was already much stronger than Captain America's, but his healing factor had increased several times over.
"Jack, you should have warned me before. Now I have to go take a shower and change clothes, but I feel much better," said Peter.
"I forgot to mention it. Everyone who doesn't need to conceal their identity can change their clothes. Iron Man can do the transformation last," said Jack.
"Since only the application of the Extremis virus is quicker, I'll apply it to Steve and Bruce first, and then we'll start the application of the Super Soldier Serum," said Jack, realizing this would be faster.
