Chapter 7: chapter Six: The door knock.
Soon ,we were all in our bedrooms, Raphael and Nicole were already asleep.l was in my bedroom lying on bed trying to get myself to sleep but it seemed impossible l moved to all corners of my bed trying to look for one that would make me have a comfortable sleep but all in vein,it failed.l was awake for seconds, the seconds turned to minutes and the minutes to hours.
ln the process of looking for sleep, l heard a knock at the door.Then a deep voice followed the knock.
' please, open the door? ' It was uncle Richard. l wonber what he wants .l won't open that door l thought to myself.l remembered what he had done to me earlier on at the dinning table.So l pretended not to have heard and l was asleep.Uncle Richard knocked for the second time but with a bitter and vengous voice.
' l said open the door' he commanded this time with an angrier voice.
l got scared and my heart skipped a beat and I felt butterflies flying in my stomach.
In my heart l was like ' am not going to open that door.' l held my self so tied on my bed.After some more knocks on the door Uncle Richard gave up and left.l thought he would never stop.But he did.l was restless the whole night.l thought l would be sleepy the next day but surprisedly .l was more than sober that day l was in the kitchen making some tea for my self but then l noticed that someone was standing behind me. l turned only to see to Raphael.
' Hi, Raphael'
' Hi , Alessia'
Then there was some silence in the room which l realized after Raphael had started to clear his throat .
' Raphael,do u need anything.'
' No, absolutely not.Alesssia,l have been waiting to ask you something.'
' Go ahead'
' What was dad doing at your door last night at around 12:00 pm'
' You mean uncle was at my door last night?'
' What! You mean you aren't aware?'
' Yeah,l wonder what he was looking for at that time'
Uncle Richard was walking through the passage that leads to the sitting room and he over heard our conversation and stopped to listen to more of our conversation.
Raphael continued since we weren't aware of uncle Richard' s presence
' last night l felt so thirsty and l wanted to have some water .As l was going to the kitchen,l happened to find dad standing in front of your door.It looked like he wanted something from you.l didn't take too much emphasis on what was going on.So l moved down stairs to get water.After getting a glass of water and l was now heading to my room, l heard dad angrily hitting your door and asking you to open the door but it seemed that you were already asleep'
' l was indeed asleep' l said all acting innocent.' l wonder what he might have wanted from me then.'
' Anyways, Alessia it's in the past.Dad won't askyou why you didn't open the door for him .'
As we were leaving the kitchen,we found uncle Richard at the kitchen door.' ' Good morning,kids.'
' Good morning,dad .' Raphael answered.
l had developed hatred for Uncle Richard.Responding to his greeting seemed so unclean to me.Whenever we say at the dinning table,placing his hands where they weren't supposed to be became his daily routine.How ever much l tried to distance myself from uncle Richard ,he always looked for ways to bring himself closer.coz he knew l could never mention it to his kids.
