Chapter 16: 14. Pewter City
(A/N: Sorry that it took so long. I couldn't bring myself to write another new chapter since Ash had left. Heck, I couldn't even finish the 13 episodes, let alone start the new series. I can't just seem to be able to accept the fact that Ash, Pikachu and all the others have left and it has been my childhood for so long that it pained me. It was only after I looked at it again that I saw that it has been a long time since I updated sp here I am.
I know that many of you like this book of mine and even I want to continue it. It's just that I'm a bit discouraged due to Ash officially leaving. He also hasn't got together with any of the pokegirls. With that being said, please enjoy the chapter and support my book and also wish my heart some luck.)
"Finally. We are in Pewter City." Shu said as he got out of the forest with Ash, Misty, Pikachu and Nidoran.
After they left the Viridian forest they made their way to the city. During the time Shu had also trained his Pokemon as well with Ash doing the same but not as much as the former. He gave more training to Nidoran and Mankey as he knew that he needed the two of them to defeat Brock's Pokemon.
"Whoo. We finally reached the city." Ash said as he sat on a rock.
"Yeah, I can't wait to go to a Pokemon centre." Misty said as she rolled her shoulders.
"And I can admit you into the centre alongside the others as well. You do need to have a checkup." Shu said to his Nidoran who cried in agreement.
"Oh. Are you three new trainers?" A man asked as he walked to them and looked at them.
"You can say that. We had crossed the Viridian forest and finally reached Pewter City." Ash said to the man with a smile.
"If that is true, you would want to go to the Pokemon centre then." The man said to him.
"Yes, do you know where the Pokemon centre is?" Ash asked him curiously.
"Yes, I can take you there. My name is Flint. I sell my merchandise here." Flint said as he introduced himself to them.
"Merchandise? What merchandise?" Misty asked him curiously.
"You're currently standing on them. Those rocks are my merchandise." Flint said to them.
"Huh!" Misty and Ash took a few seconds to process his words before looking at him in shock.
Ash immediately stood up from the rock and looked at it.
"This is your merchandise?" Ash asked incredulously.
"These rocks?" Misty asked as she looked at the rocks.
Pikachu and Nidoran were also surprised by the man's word's as they also looked at the rocks.
"Is that really true cause I don't know if someone will buy rocks." Shu said to Flint with a sweatdrop.
'This is just a cover for him right?' Shu thought to himself as he didn't think someone would buy rocks.
"Oh there are people who buy them. Now, you said you wanted to go to the Pokemon centre right?" Flint asked them as he looked at them.
"Ah yeah, we need to go there." Shu said to him.
"Good, then follow me." Flint said to them as he turned around and walked away.
"This is really for sale?" Ash asked confused.
"I guess it really is." Misty said to him.
"Also, you will have to pay me for sitting on my rocks." Flint said suddenly appearing in front of them.
Misty, Ash, Pikachu and Nidoran fell down when they heard that while Shu chuckled a bit at their reaction though he also sweatdropped at the man's words.
After that the three trainers alongside their Pokemon were escorted to the Pokemon centre by Flint as they thanked the man and walked inside. And though Shu knew about the true identity of the man he decided to stay silent about it for the time being.
"Hello, you must be Shu, Misty and Ash right." The Pewter City Nurse Joy greeted them with a smile.
"Nurse Joy?! How did you get here?" Ash asked shocked.
"Surprised? I'm actually the older sister of teg Nurse Joy at Viridian City Pokemon centre." Pewter City Nurse Joy said with a smile.
"Really? I can't tell you apart." Ash said confused.
"It's fine. And I also wanted to thank you for helping my little sister at the Pokemon centre. I really appreciate it." Nurse Joy said to them with a smile.
"We were happy to help. We also need to check in our Pokemon for a checkup." Shu said to her with a smile.
"Of course. Please give me your Pokemon and I will make sure that they are brought back to full health." Nurse Joy said with a smile.
"Thank you Nurse Joy." Ash said with a smile as he took out his Pokeballs.
"Me too." Shu said as he also took out his Pokeballs.
He also called Nidoran into his ball before placing all three of them on the tray as nurse Joy took the Pokeballs and went back to care for them.
"Come back after sometime and they will be back in good shape." Nurse Joy said to them with her signature smile with Chansey nodding to her words.
"Thank you Nurse Joy." Ash and Shu said in unison as she nodded to them before she went inside.
"Well, we could eat while we wait for your Pokemon to be healed." Misty said to them.
"That's a good idea. No use in standing here." Shu said to her agreeing with her idea.
"Hey what's that?" Ash said as he ran to a poster on the wall of the Pokemon centre.
Shu and Misty walked and saw that it is a Pokemon League poster.
"That's a poster for the Pokemon League." Misty said to him as she looked at him.
"Pokemon League?" Ash said surprised causing Shu to raise his eyebrows.
'Doesn't he know that?' Shu thought to himself in confusion as he looked at him.
"It's a fight where many trainers fight against each other to determine the strongest trainer in the region." Misty said to him as she looked at him.
"Woah really. Then I need to enter it." Ash said excited when he heard her.
"Not so fast. You need to beat and get the gym badges of 8 Pokemon gyms in the region to become eligible to enter a Pokemon League. And you have none right now." Misty said to him as she crossed her arms.
"Oh really. Then I just have to beat those gym and collect those badges. Then I can enter the league and become the strongest!" Ash said happily as he looked at her.
"Uh, Ash. You really don't know about the Pokemon league?" Shu asked him with a surprised face.
"Nope. Not a clue. Why?" Ash said as he looked at his friend.
Misty also looked at Shu a bit confused by his words.
"Because I remember that a year ago I had taught you about the Pokemon league." Shu said to him a bit skeptically.
"What? When?" Ash asked confused and surprised.
"It was the day after we had taken care of the Pokemon at the ranch, your mom had made your favourite dish. After that I gave you a brief lesson about the Pokemon league." Shu said to him seriously.
"Oh, right, that day." Ash said as he remembered the day.
"Ash. You do remember what I had taught you that day right?" Shu asked him.
"Yeah yeah, I just, forgot." Ash said as he looked away from him.
"Ash. What were you doing when I was teaching you?" Shu asked him with a deadpan.
Ash didn't look at him but the stare that Shu was giving him was enough to break his defences.
"Okay okay, I didn't pay attention to it. I was daydreaming." Ash said to him as he wave his hands in front of him.
Shu sighed at his words before shaking his head. It was normal for Ash to be daydreaming. He is very certain that he was thinking about becoming a Pokemon Master as that is the only thing that is in Ash's mind.
"So you want to go to the Pokemon League huh. Then you will have to defeat the Pewter City gym leader." Flint said as he walked to them.
"There is a Pokemon gym here?" Ash asked him when he heard that.
"Yes. It is run by Brock. He is a very powerful trainer. And I doubt that you will be able to defeat him." Flint said to him with a small laugh.
"Hey. I'm going to fight him and defeat him. Then I will get my first badge before going to the other gyms." Ash said to him with a glare.
"Hmph! You won't be able to win against Brock with the level of skill and power that you currently have." Flint said before he walked away.
"Hey, don't walk away after saying stuff like that!" Ash said angrily.
"Ash, calm down. We have to get food remember." Shu said to him friend as he tried to calm him down.
"I know that we have to get food but..." Ash said as he glared at the entrance of the centre.
"Well, forget about it. Let's go eat. I'll tell you more about the league there, and you can prove him wrong after you defeat the leader." Shu said to him with a smile.
"... Fine. I'm going to make him eat his words." Ash said to him as he has a bit of an angry face.
'Despite their differences, they are good friends.' Misty thought to herself as she looked at their interaction.
Then the group of three went to eat at a restaurant where Shu and Misty told Ash about the League.
"You understand right? A gym leader is not like a regular Pokemon trainer. They are very strong and very capable trainers and of course one of the strongest trainers in the region. If you go there without any powerful Pokemon then you will be defeated easily." Misty said to Ash as she pointed at him with her fork.
"I can beat him with Pikachu." Ash said to her as he ate his food.
"He uses Rock type Pokemon. Electric type moves aren't that effective against them genius." Misty said to him back.
"I'll figure something out." Ash said to her stubbornly.
'I don't know whether I should be impressed with the fact that Ash is still the same after all these years and with my presence.' Shu thought to himself as he looked at the two.
"You know, I can give you my water type Pokemon. It will help you to defeat him easily." Misty said to Ash with a sly look on her face.
"No need. I can do it myself." Ash said to her rudely as he scarfed down on his food.
"Hmph! You're very stubborn. Fine, try and defeat him. Then you will understand how good my offer was." Misty said as she slapped her bill on the table and walked away from the two.
Ash looked at her as she left before he spotted the bill on the table.
"Hey! Come back here and pay the bill!" Ash shouted as he shot up from his seat as Shu has a small smile on his face.
'I can't wait to get Brock in our group.' Shu thought to himself as he looked at Ash.
