Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Lost in the darkness
Their love story begins with the bullies, Noah is Amber's senior in high school. Because the smoothie on his shoes that day has cost her a lot of trouble at school.
His words remind her about what exactly the nightmare is;
"What is your last wish?" Noah throw such a weird question with
His eyebrows lowered and pulled closer together. his eyelids became squinted and made his eyes bulge, his lips tighten, his jaw tense, and his juts forward slightly. And we could tell that this is the kind of expression when someone is full of anger.
"What do you mean can you elaborate, and could you please at least help me up first before you ask me a stupid question?"
"Wow, alright princess, let me help you up", he pulled her hand to help her up but then suddenly he let it go without warning.
She was so dumbfounded and almost fell back down but then he caught her waist and slowly his face came closer to her, at first, she thought that he was going to kiss her, but that's not possible for a person like him to do such thing, he just whispered in her ear and said :
"You better wish that God will protect you from me" He pulled back his face with a smile and a wink at her after saying those phrases. And then he just lets go of her waist and keeps an eye on her while she plunges herself back down onto the ground so badly, but luckily she landed on her bump and it holds her from getting her tailbone injured. Her glimpse was so pissed at him that day.
And of course, Emma is standing by her side and helping her up. Witnessing this situation happen to her best friend, of course she could not stand still watching her own brother bullying her best friend, She always got her back, she fights against his brother just to defend Amber, she is always on her side and because her relationship with his brother has never been good anyway, Amber is lucky that she still got Emma on her side to defend her and be there for her.
After that smoothie incident, Amber suffered the whole week at school just to get bullied over and over again. That's why he told her to ask for God's protection against Noah unpleasant treatment towards her.
Well, however, his family is quite well off, they're living in a big mansion and driving supercars, no wonder why he is always surrounded by the hottest girls at school, and he could do whatever he wants.
He's the divinity boy at school but for Amber, he's just a spoiled brat who ruins her life and shatters her inner peace at school. But not for a long time until he finally fell head over heels in love with her.
At first, she wasn't expecting that she could receive so much love from the one that she thought as a heartless person like Noah, But now, what does it mean if he just left her without even saying goodbye, is there any love ever exist, or it's just all a lie. She have no idea at all, well let me tell you their story before Noah was gone missing.
Everything began in the summer of 2020, Noah is so unpredictable and mysterious but, to be honest, he's gorgeous, there's no doubt about his beauty. His blue eyes, tan skin, beautiful smile, perfect muscular body, everything seems too good to be true. No wonder why every girl loves him including her except for his bad behavior like bullying her for fun, that's not cool at all and drives her crazy each day, until one day when all the students go camping together in the mountain area. Where they had to hike and walk through the jungle so far until they reached the campsite.
On their way for a hike, She saw him walking behind her, her heart is pounding, She wonder what else he would do to her about this time in the wild and open space like this, it could be terrifying for sure, all she thinks that how if he set a trap for her like the poachers hunting an animals in the jungle, or maybe pushed her down the Cliff and it's quite high by the way.
However, hopefully, those terrible things would never happen to her. She is done with being a coward, this time she won't let them bully her again.
In the middle of the jungle, they were all surrounded by the pine trees, her nostrils pick up some resinous smell, the sharp sweet, and refreshing of pine trees around her, it feels good to be there, this was the best place for a retreat from the city, a getaway from the crowd, breathe in the fresh air and no more pollution.
She decided to stop for a bit and take some rest. She was trying to catch her breath each steps, her legs was sore, she feels exhausted and it was her first time going hiking. Her throat is drying up and she couldn't even taste the saliva in her mouth so she takes a sip of the water out of the silver bottle on her hand, her bag pack is quite heavy.
A few students pass by but she decided to chill for a while and sit down under the pine tree. After a few minutes of relaxing her legs then she yawned and slowly shut her eyes and fell asleep, Once she woke up, she saw that the sky was gloomy and the sun went down. But she sees nobody is around, what is she gonna do here all alone in the middle of nowhere? She do have the map in her hands but it was too dark to see it. She wishes that Emma would be there to help her up like she always did, but unfortunately, today she couldn't make it to go camping because she was hospitalized after falling down the stairs and getting her legs injured, so for that reason, Amber ended up alone, all her friends are leaving her just like that and none of them even bother to wake her up;
“They leave me just like that, what an ass” she is so angry and took a deep breath to remain calm.
"God what am I supposed to do, where should I go, please guide me, protect me, and don't let any tiger or other animal eat me. Don't let me die here, not now, not before I get married, and have a good life and family. Please, Amen"
With her racing heartbeat, she moved forward and kept going to find a way to the campsite, she just follow her heart and leave it to God wherever it is she will find it and she won't be scared as long as she have God with her, she believes in God's protection and keep praying.
After a few minutes of walking, The sky was ablaze with the fire of the setting sun. She felt someone walking right behind her back but then when she turned her back around, there was nobody except for the trees. It's so frustrating being lost in a place like this all alone. She feel hopeless, she grabbed her phone out of her pocket and looked at the screen but her phone is also useless because there was no signals at all and the battery is gonna be dead anytime soon.
Her hands trembled with a cold sweat sliding down her cheeks. She is unable to hold on and stay focused. She dropped the phone because of her shivering hands. She picked up the phone with her racing heartbeat still bouncing harder and harder but then she keeps going, and her steps begin to increase speed, she walks faster because of her fear of the dark, she looked up at the sky and it is getting darker, Suddenly she stopped walking, and this time she was pretty sure that there is someone behind her and she felt horrified, at that moment she turned her back around.
"Boo" a male voice shouted at the back of her ears straight away, he was trying to frighten her.
She shut her eyes and scream out loud, she was so shocked by his appearance straight on her face in the dark with the flash on illuminating his face and trying to scare her. It was Noah again and he was laughing at her afterward, Amber was feeling so annoyed by his appearance, But she wasn't sure why she felt so relieved at the same time that he was here with her, in this kind of situation, at least she won't be alone anymore.
And luckily tonight the night sky was aglow with the brightest city lights. The pale crescent moon shone like a silvery claw in the night sky. Just looked up at the blanket of stars that stretched to infinity and they walked side by side.
The sky is getting darker and darker, she could not keep her hands off his muscular arms, she grabbed them so hard that he yelled at her many times and tried to keep pushing her away from him and let go of his arm. But she was so stubborn and won’t listen, she wasn't care at all, she just doesn’t wanna let him go away, she have to make sure that they won’t get separated from each other since her biggest enemy is the darkness.
“Could you please let go of my hands!”
”Never!”
”Are you insane?”
“You can call me crazy or whatever but I won’t let you go away”
“You are something”
“I don’t care, say whatever you want “
”What a coward”
”You know nothing, just shut up!”
”What is that I don’t know about?”
“Just keep going Noah, I don't wanna hear anything from you anymore”
“Ouch” Noah shouted and gritted his teeth.
“Psst, don't shout, I'm scared, how if you have woken up some of the wild animals around here!” she tried to shut him up, because of his loud mouth.
“I will shut my mouth if you could control your fear and stop grabbing my arm tightly, you hurting me, how dare you!” he yelled at her with his bulging eyes trying to show his anger.
“Oops, sorry Noah, yes I dare, since you couldn't do anything to me at this moment, remember, we need each other so be cooperate with me”
“Then keep your hands to yourself!”
“Alright, but please don't run away from me”
“Stop eating my head, I won’t go anywhere!”
“Thanks, Noah”
”Oh Gosh, how could I stuck with you, dude, FYI you’re so annoying!”
“I know, thanks, now let’s keep moving!”
He’s frowning and rolling his eyes then keeps going forward, he has no other option but to stick together with her.
