Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Reo's high school football team, named "Kyoto Sainou FC" had been on a winning streak, defeating every team they faced with ease. Each match, Reo would come up with a unique strategy tailored to the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents. His teammates couldn't help but be amazed at his tactical genius and ability to lead them to victory.

...

Reo laid on his bed, deep in thought as he replayed several matches in his mind. He had been able to replicate several moves that he had only seen online, but he couldn't help but feel like he was missing something in them. He knew that just watching videos of other players' moves wasn't enough to truly master them. Maybe he needed to experience them for himself, to feel the weight of the ball and the force of the movements from first hand by their users. Or maybe it was his body that weight him down.

But even with this limitations, Reo couldn't deny the feeling of satisfaction as he had been able to surprise his opponents and even his own team with his sudden ability to superficially replicate moves they had only seen on TV before. He couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something more to them, a deeper understanding that he couldn't quite grasp.

He thought back to the moment when he had scored his first goal, the one that had left everyone in the stadium in awe. In that moment, he had felt like he was watching himself from the outside, as if his body was moving on its own accord. He couldn't help but wonder if this was related to the suspicions he had been harboring for a while now, the ones about him being reincarnated with abilities from his favorite anime.

He had always been a big fan of the anime KurukoNoBasket and the "The Generation of Miracles" as he had even modeled his playing style after one of the main characters, Aomine Daiki in his previous life. He had always admired Aomine's fluid and unpredictable playing style, and had even dreamed of one day being able to replicate it on the field.

But now, as he sat in the locker room, he couldn't help but wonder if it was more than just a coincidence. He had always been a quick learner, but this ability to replicate moves that he had only seen once was something else entirely. This was clearly Kise's ability "Copy", he even had Momoi's "Intel" ability. So he couldn't shake off the feeling that this was somehow connected to the anime he loved so much, and the characters that had inspired him to become a basketball player in his previous life in the first place.

And If he had been reincarnated with abilities from his favorite anime, why had these abilities somehow manifested during his playing of football? Maybe because of his passion for the Game?

Despite his suspicions, Reo, leaved these thoughts aside, he was grateful for this newfound abilities, as they helped lead his team to the top. The team was now considered one of the best in the country, and many were eager to see what Reo and his team would accomplish next.

...

Reo and Nagi were out on the field, passing the ball back and forth as they caught up on each other's lives in their free day. The sun was shining down on them, and the sound of the ball hitting the ground was the only thing that could be heard.

"So, what have you been up to?" Nagi asked lazily as he passed the ball to Reo.

"Huh? You know, focusing on football and the team, and learning new things in my father's company," Reo replied as he passed the ball back to Nagi.

"Hmm," Nagi hummed, nonchalantly throwing the ball up into the air and catching it again. "Hey, Reo. Do you like my sister?"

Reo's heart skipped a beat as he looked at Nagi, who was now staring at him with an expression that was hard to read. He didn't know how to respond, and the ball passed by him unnoticed.

"What do you mean by that, Nagi?" Reo asked, trying to play it cool.

"You know what I mean, Reo," Nagi replied, lazily.

Reo felt his face heat up as he thought about Yuna. She was smart, funny, and had a passion for sports that rivaled his own. But was it more than just admiration? He didn't know.

"I-I don't know, Nagi. She's a great person, but I haven't really thought about it," Reo stammered, trying to hide his confusion.

Nagi shrugged, and the two of them continued to pass the ball back and forth in silence. Reo couldn't stop thinking about the question, and he couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to it than Nagi was letting on. He didn't know if he liked Nagi's sister or not, but he couldn't deny that the thought of her made his heart race.

"Maybe, I do like her..." Reo couldn't help but think about Yuna as he passed the ball back and forth with Nagi.

As the sun began to set, the two of them said their goodbyes and went their separate ways, Nagi appeared hesitant and as if he wanted to say something, but he ultimately decided against it. Reo couldn't help but wonder what it was that Nagi had wanted to tell him, but he didn't dwell on it for too long as Nagi's previous question consumed his thoughts.

...

As Nagi walked through the door of his home, his sister Yuna immediately pounced on him with a flurry of questions. "How did it go? Did you guys have fun? Did Reo say anything about me?" Nagi, still feeling hesitant from his conversation with Reo earlier, tried to brush off her inquiries with a nonchalant "It was fine" and a side  look, this was too much of a hassle.

But Yuna wouldn't let up so easily. She pressed him further, "Did he say anything about me? Do you think he likes me?" Nagi, feeling overwhelmed by her barrage of questions, finally relented and let out a small sigh. "Yeah, he likes you."

Yuna's face lit up with a huge grin, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Really? Oh my gosh, I can't believe it! I've liked him for so long, and I never thought he felt the same way!" She grabbed Nagi in a tight hug, thanking him profusely for his help.

Nagi just let out a small smile, happy to have been able to bring a little bit of happiness to his sister's life. He knew that Reo and Yuna would make a great couple, and he was excited to see what the future held for them. As he watched Yuna happily skip off to her room, he couldn't help but feel a little bit of envy for the joy and excitement that love brought.
