Chapter 14: The suspicious father
"Lin Yun, dear it's me your father."
Lin Yun was speechless when she heard the voice of her 'father'. She was surprised by the fact that her father is a young man! she always thought he was an old person.
Lin Yun struggles to spit out a few words but fails due to the conflicted emotions she was having.
"Father?" she asked.
No. she is not that stupid to believe a random man on the phone ,out of the blue telling her that he is her father. she is not an idiot. Lin Yun looks back to see her mother standing behind her with a surprised look on her face but she had her eyes brim with tears.
'A my mother is lovesick ' she thought.
Lin Yun grew up without a father figure but she had the maturity which most of the children with father figure didn't have.
she sighed and spoke to the person on the phone while her mom stood behind her back.
"Father? but my father died before I was born then who are you "
"dear i didn't die,your mother must have lied to you-"
"what do you mean by my mother lying? she never lies to me. it's you who is lying . you don't want me to call the police."
suddenly Lin Yun's mother spoke in a low voice.
" It's true Xiao Yun..."
Lin Yun was once again startled by her mother.
" mother...but you said"
" Xiao Yun please forgive me, I didn't want to hide it from you but I feared your father's life would be destroyed"
Lin Yun felt the betrayal like a thousand thorns piercing her heart as she walked away with her phone . her mother tried to stop her but she walked out of the house just with her phone. She walked and walked and forgot where she was going.Her mind wandered through all the possible paths while her feet moved forward.
for Lin Yun her family was everything.she sacrificed her time for her family but having them hide the truth about her existence broke her heart. she wanted to ask her mother why she thought that her daughter would destroy her father's life . But she couldn't bring herself to ask . Lin Yun reached the river where she always went when she felt sad.
Suddenly her eyes lit up when she saw a familiar figure. It was Yanhui.
Watching the handsome figure turn,Lin Yun jolted in surprise. Yanhui's eyes had a familiar sadness of Longing. Yanhui walked towards Lin Yun and smiled lightly. Though the smile was light it was comforting to see the handsome person smile . but her eyes still had the unspoken sadness.
"CEO Gu"
"Miss Yun"
both of them said their names in unison which created an awkward tension between them. Yanhui laughed it away as Lin Yun kept her head low. Yanhui spoke .
" I'm surprised to see miss Yun at this time.what happened? is something bothering you?"
" hmm yes. i always find peace when I come here and listen to ripples of the river"
yanhui chuckled at her response
"CEO Gu, is something bothering you?"
Yanhui hesitated for a bit and nodded.
" I'm missing someone who's now really far from me. i know I won't meet them ever again but if i could just see a glance.....nevermind"
yanhui spoke as her voice cracked a little.
Lin Yun answered back.
" When they are in the stars they shine brighter than ever. You won't be able to see them always but they'll always watch you, hear you and will also protect you. The person you're missing is watching you from the stars"
Yanhui's eyes widened and her lips couldn't hold the smile blooming back . Though her words are far from reality they comforted yanhui like a soft feather.
Lin Yun and Yanhui talked a lot . they didn't notice the time they've spent until Lin Yun sneezed . It was getting cold and had to be home before the sky darkened. Lin Yun fixed her slightly wrinkled dress and stood up from the bench they were sitting on . Yanhui shook her hands with Lin Yun and said with a charming smile .
"Until we meet again"
" Until we meet again"
Lin Yun walked back as yanhui watched her walk . half of the heaviness in her heart vanished into thin air and her eyes lit up again. It was true. If you share your sadness with someone it will be halved ,if you share your happiness with someone it will be doubled. Lin Yun chuckled at her thoughts and walked back home.

"Yansheng, I'm ready. let's go now"
Mu Yanli and Gu Yansheng where about to go on a date . Mu Yanli like every other nepo baby was a materialistic woman. she loved the shining jewellery, glittering handbags and the luxury of the wealthy. Yansheng was never a person who lived for luxury. though he was born with a golden spoon, he never showed the arrogance and pride of other wealthy youngsters.
Yansheng met Yanli at a convention abroad. Yanli instantly fell for him. It was a masquerade party and Yansheng was dancing with a girl in the red dress. She didn't speak a thing but her smile was extremely pretty. later he discovered that she was from the Mu family. Since she left before saying her name it was quite hard to find the girl. The Mu family had two children. One was the ever famous model and actress mu Yanli while the other was the insignificant son Mu Yinuo. There was little to no information about Yinuo, while there was plenty about Yanli. some even said Yinuo was disfigured but no one really cared for the abandoned son of the Mu family.
Yansheng and Yanli became aquintances soon. Yansheng never admitted that he's in a relationship with Yanli whereas Yanli never denied the rumour.
News about them attending a ball flooded the internet as the netizen where eagre to see the pretty actress with the handsome young master.

it's been long right! sorry for the delay my classes started and it was stressful for me.
and by the way there's an easter egg in this chapter. yes. it's about a new character. No not from this novel but from the upcoming "His beloved" .anyways I'll try to update more. until then bye.
