Chapter 141: Keep their appetite

-I can't believe I overlooked something like that," Soisen lamented once he discovered how the Death Eaters managed to enter the castle.

Through the secret passageway by the statue of the Hunchback Witch that leads to Honeydukes.

-Now I understand why I didn't feel anything strange, they didn't use force to get in. But how did they know about it if they don't have the Marauder's Map? I'm sure the only ones who know about this corridor were the Weasley twins, me and... Potter," he cursed uncontrollably, it seemed that Malfoy or someone associated with the Death Eaters must have watched in amazement as Potter sneaked into Hogsmeade despite not having permission and they discovered this breach in the security barriers.

It was clear that as time went on he let his guard down and didn't use his invisibility cloak as much, believing that no one would notice.

Although Soisen put some things under strict control when he connected to Hogwarts, the secret passages and shortcuts in the castle were not blocked because many students often used them to get to their lessons on time without getting lost.

Did Dumbledore know about this breach?

-Wait, because I didn't see Dumbledore defending the students? -He suddenly realized that no matter how he scanned the castle with his connection, there was no sign of the Headmaster or Potter.

He saw the few remaining surviving Death Eaters, the professors collaborating with armor to guard the common rooms....

-Malfoy or some Death Eater's son noticed the Headmaster's absence and decided it was the ideal time to... what?" he wondered, not quite understanding the purpose of Voldemort's followers, "Take over the castle? But they seemed to be looking for something or... someone.

Did they think Dumbledore was gone, so Potter was helpless?

Or was their target him? He still felt like he was being targeted by Tom.

Anyway, the priority was to close the breach and cut off the flow of invaders, which had really slowed down a lot. It seemed they didn't have as many troops planned as he'd hoped.

With a mental command, the statue of the Hunchback Witch began to close despite the Death Eaters' efforts to keep the way open when they realized the problem. But all they succeeded in doing was slowing the closure.

Soisen looked around and frowned as he realized another detail that bothered him greatly and would have been of great help to the current situation.

Where is the damn Order of the phoenix?

What's taking them so long and they still haven't arrived?

At this rate, they will show up at the last minute and act as if it was to their credit.

What Soisen was unaware of was that his implemented security measures actually worked against him this time. Members of the Order of the Phoenix wanted to enter Hogwarts through the Fluo Powder network and help the students who were under attack, but the restrictions denied them passage because they did not have his permission or that of the Headmaster, who was absent at this critical time.

So they could only Apparate somewhere near the school and use the brooms or run with their legs in a hurry to get there and get in. All this would take a few minutes, naturally.

-At least, there are no victims among the students, although several Slytherin are behaving strangely... -he reflected- PX5, eliminate the remaining threats near the statue.

-Roger, Roger.

As the Death Eaters screamed tragically being slaughtered by the golem, Soisen suspected why these students dared not act.

What could be holding their hand? Perhaps there was something persuading them that he didn't know?

-Agh, mercy!

-My leg! -He tore my leg off!

-I don't want to die, it wasn't supposed to end like this!

-Aren't Light wizards not supposed to kill?

-In case you haven't noticed, that thing isn't a wizard! It's a monster!

-By Morgana's tits! They just bisected Mike!

-Save us, Dark Lord! -I knew it, I should have known!

-I knew it, I should have listened to mom and become a baker. But no, I wanted to be a bad boy....

Yes, Soisen couldn't think of a single reason why the "doubting" students wouldn't decide to act this time. Looking at the bodies of the Death Eaters, he realized that Filch was going to have a lot of work moving them and cleaning the blood off the corridors, walls, and even the ceiling in some places.

The students might be a bit traumatized as well, but he couldn't take such an easy way out as allowing the castle to absorb the blood as it might taint the magic as if it were a sacrificial ritual, so he called the castle's house elves and asked them to clean everything up as quickly as possible.

The house elves took the order and began to remove the traces of everything that happened in the castle with fervor, regardless of whether they were bodies, limbs, blood or organs.

The children will lose their appetite if they see this and won't be able to enjoy their dishes!

What a tragedy!

That is unacceptable to them, who put so much effort into preparing meals.

While taking care of post-battle business, she made up her mind to permanently seal the passage to Hogsmeade. While it could be considered an escape route in case of emergency, it was nothing more than a security breach when the enemy knew both entrances.

And I was hesitant to close the other similar ones permanently as well, such as the one to the Hogshead. But given its possible role in the future, he needed to consult the plans to calculate the risk.

-Mmm? Looks like the Order of the Phoenix finally arrived, late anyway - Soisen had no trouble identifying some familiar people among the new arrivals and learning of their origin - I'll wait until everything has been cleared before transmitting over the talking boxes that all is safe and they can leave. I wonder how it went up there?

It was interesting to note that Snape did not head for the dungeons to defend the common room, but neither did he go up to the Astronomy Tower. It was at the end of the fight that he sensed Dumbledore using his authority in the castle as headmaster to enter with Potter before running into Malfoy, who seems to have been lucky enough to evade the golems.

Was Lucius willing to send a bottle of Felix Felicis to his son after seeing his problems in carrying out Voldemort's mission or is it the power of the plot armor at work?

Whatever it was, he couldn't know precisely what happened in the Astronomy Tower because there was no talking painting in the place that could serve as his eyes and ears, only the inanimate star maps were present.

-Everyone, don't worry, the Order of the Phoenix came to the rescue!
