Chapter 8: Abusive Home 3

As I watched my Dad attempting to slap my Mum, I remembered the things he said earlier that a man who lays his hand on a woman is a fool. I really wished he wouldn't try to beat her and at the same time, I felt he should beat her.

My Mum went too far by sleeping with other men which led to publicly disgracing my Dad today. She didn't only cheat with one man but more than two men.

It was after the incident at the Bar earlier that I reflected on many things. If my Mum really loved my Dad as she claimed, she wouldn't have remarried so fast. Not only that, during the time she hasn't remarried, she didn't even try to get a job to take care of me. Instead, she preferred stealing around in the name of taking care of me. She truly didn't want to have me in the first place because she would always remind me that I'm one of the greatest mistakes of her life. If she didn't give birth to me, she could have been somewhere doing something very important with her life.

It sounds weird but I feel my Mum has a bit of the character of Georgia from the TV series "Ginny and Georgia." But I would always prefer Georgia to my Mum. At least, she loved Ginny when she was still a kid despite the fact that she gave birth to her when she was just fifteen years old. Same thing as my Mother.

I looked at my poor step brother who was waking up and also crying due to the noise my mum was making. The loud cry from him shows very much that he's in pain but my Mum didn't care.

Immediately, my Dad heard Little Stephens cry, he brought down his hands and rushed to carry him from me.

My Mum sighed. Her plan didn't go as she wanted. She has been trying everything possible to make my Dad look awful. At this stage, I think she's trying to make him look like an abusive husband which my Dad can never be.

"Why did you stop? Why did you bring down your hands? You cheat!" My Mum shouted.

"Loveth, I know what you want but I won't give it to you. This little boy over here is terribly sick and needs a rest." My Dad replied, tucking in Little Stephens' clothes.

"You're obviously pretending like you care about the boy, everyone knows that you're regretting why you sold your own son." My Mum smirked.

"Mum, What has come over you? Why are trying to cause a fight when you know very well that you're obviously at fault." I stood up to defend my Dad.

"Shut up you little brat." My Mum removed her glasses.

My Dad glared at her because she knows what she's about to do next.

"What are you trying to do? Beat me up?" She laughed walking closer to me.

"Sad kid, let me tell you something. You don't have to be infuriated by anything that is happening right now. He's pretending to be your Dad. He's not your real Dad." My Mum smirked, pushing me back slowly with her index finger on my forehead.

That was the most shocking news I've received in life during that time. I mean my Dad of ten years who actually took very good care of me was not my real Dad all along. I stood still shivering like the world was about to crumble.

"Loveth! What are you doing?! Stop it now!." My Dad shouted at her continuously.

"Dad, please tell me that what she's saying isn't the truth." I started crying.

"No, she's lying, you are-

"Why will I lie to you, Marsai." My Mum interrupted.

My Dad pleaded with her to stop talking but she didn't.

"Your Dad already knows that you're not his child. He was so deeply in love with me that he had to take in another man's child. I mean he's used to it. Can't you see how he's taking care of Stephen despite the fact that he isn't his child?" My Mum laughed, lighting up her cigarettes.

"Marsai, whatever she's saying, she's lying. You are my child. You are mine. Can't you see we even look alike?." Tears rolled down my Dad's cheeks.

"Dad, we don't" I started crying loudly.

"Marsai, please don't believe her." My Dad pleaded with me.

"Talk about crocodile tears." My Mum laughed.

"Marsai, Incase you don't know, your real Dad is Mr.Stephens-

"You gotta be joking or daydreaming. That monster can never be my Dad." I retorted.

My Dad was so tired that he could no longer utter a word. He tried making Little Stephens stop crying.

"You have to accept it now. Your real Dad is Mr.Stephens. Your Dad was so madly in love with me that he didn't care to know who was responsible for my pregnancy. He stupidly believed that he was the one. Isn't that funny? Why would I get pregnant for someone that is not even wealthy." My Mum started laughing.

I started crying loudly at this point.

"Mum, why have you decided to ruin my life? Why have you decided to make sure I don't enjoy any minute of my life? Why do you always love to see me miserable? If you were so concerned about your future, why did you have me in the first place?." I cried leaving the room immediately.

"Marsai! Marsai, please come back!" My Dad continued shouting but I've already slammed the door.

The condition of the room was a very terrible one. The crying and shouting of Little Stephens and also the smoke coming out of the cigarettes Loveth was taking. It was very horrible.

When I left the room, I was really convinced that what I said must have made my Mum reflect on her actions. But I was terribly wrong. I mean the last thing that I'll see is to see my Mum regretting her actions.

"Why did you do that?"

"Do what?!" My Mum replied, releasing the smoke of the cigarettes in the air. She didn't even show an atom of sympathy.

"You know what you did Loveth Edward! Why Did you lie to Marsai?!" My Dad shouted at her.

"You're calling me by my Father's name now right?" My Mum laughed.

"I don't care what you call me. If you want, you can call me by Stephen's surname, I don't care. Anyway, I did what I was supposed to do. How else do you want me to convince her that we'll be leaving you very soon. Stephen insisted that we relocate to his place. I mean it will help you a little. So, I had to lie to her that you aren't her father. Besides, it's for the better." My Mum said standing up.

"You think Marsai will believe you? You just keep making her lose the little trust she has left for you." My Dad sneered at her.

"We shall see about that. Besides, Marsai hates being betrayed and when she believes you of all people betrayed her… we all know she would have no other choice but to hate you." My Mum laughed.

My Dad stared at her without saying anything.

"Besides, Stephens was the one who brought this idea and I guess it really worked." My Mum added.

"I don't care whoever gave you that idea but it seems like you got it from someone who is mentally deranged and into drugs! But let me tell you something, Marsai would never believe you. You've done more harm than good to her!." My Dad raged. His anger was uncontrollable this moment and he tried calming himself down.

"You look really angry right now but I love to see it. I don't even know what attracted me to a Black poor man in the first place." My Mum sighed.

My Dad took a deep breath.

"I don't care whatever you say right now but we need to fix this. I mean, we could be together as we used to be." My Dad said moving closer to her.

"Loveth please reflect on your actions." My Dad pleaded.

My Mum gave him a disgusting look. When he was done talking, she burst out laughing.

"You're actually funny, very very funny, you could pass as a comedian. Trust me." My Mum said, laughing continuously.

"You look like a car pleading with that face of yours." My Mum continued laughing.

That was actually the day my Dad gave her a last chance for them to be back together. My Dad gave her that stern look that instilled fear in her. She knew that my Dad was now very serious and she had to stop laughing.

"Leave my house and never come back.!" My Dad shouted at her.

"What do you mean by that?" she asked surprisingly.

"Don't set your foot In this apartment again. Besides, Marsai will never believe you." My Dad said pushing her.

"You're pushing me now? We shall see about that because the Marsai I know will always believe her mother. And maybe the next we'll meet will be at your funeral." My Mum smiled heading out to her car.

I watched her walk out angrily walking towards where she parked her car. She made eye contact with me and smiled. I ignored her.

I hate my Mum's smile, it's evil.

My Dad walked out of our apartment and headed to where I was. He already knows that I'm on the top roof.

"Marsai, please don't believe your mother. She's lying to you." My Dad pleaded walking towards me with little Stephen on his hands.

"Dad, do you think I'll believe that witch?." I laughed.

My Dad walked closer to me now.

"Did you call her a witch?" My Dad asked curiously.

"I was actually eavesdropping on your conversation. I will never believe her anyway." I smiled at him.

"So you didn't believe her?" My Dad asked eagerly.

"Mum is used to making up lies. I just hope she never sets foot In this house again. We could just be a better family. Just you and I and little Stephens." I said, carrying little Stephens from his hands.

"That's really good to hear. You're really growing into a smart girl." My Dad hugged me.

"What do you think of Miss Georgia? She's actually very pretty and she looks very elegant."

My Dad let go of me immediately. I giggled.

"What are you saying? I don't want to be involved with women now." My Dad laughed.

"I saw the way you were smiling as you guys were discussing. I know she's the one for you." I continued making jokes.

"She's just a therapist and she booked an appointment with me which she said was for free and besides we just met recently."

"It doesn't matter. You guy's could just get married tomorrow." We continued laughing.

Seeing the way my Dad laughed that night really made me happy. Whenever we're together, we often forget the sad things. I must say that Dad's are the best.

While we were still enjoying our company, I knew that my Mum would be somewhere with her dying old husband thinking on what plan to use next. I wonder what they'll be up to this time around, whether they will actually kill my Dad next.
