Chapter 9: Awareness
After an intense bout of crying, I finally managed to regain control of my emotions and put an end to my tears.
With newfound determination, I proceeded to carry out the task that had initially brought me out of bed.
I stood up, brushing off the remnants of my emotional outburst, and reached for the cup, bringing it to my lips and taking a long, refreshing sip of the water it held. (1)
My thirst seemed unquenchable as I poured more water into the cup, quickly gulping it down as if there were no tomorrow.
Once satisfied, I returned the cup to its rightful place.
Seeking solace and clarity, I settled on the bed, contemplating the world beyond my window. With a sense of wonder, I approached the window and opened it.
What greeted my eyes was a sight that filled me with awe.
The full moon stood proudly in the dark night sky, surrounded by a myriad of twinkling stars.
There was no other word to describe it but breathtaking. (2)
Lost in the beauty of the moon, I murmured to myself, "I have always admired the sun but failed to fully appreciate the captivating allure of the moon. How foolish I have been."
Though the clarity of my thoughts wavered, I snapped myself out of my reverie by firmly slapping both hands against my face.
With renewed determination, I declared, "Let's organize the information I have gathered."
Yet, a whimsical thought crossed my mind—how peculiar it would be for someone to witness a 10-year-old child slapping himself in the middle of the night. A smile tugged at the corners of my lips, amused by the absurdity of the notion.
I embarked on the task of processing and assimilating the information I had acquired, navigating back and forth within my thoughts.
And in that process, I found myself at a loss for words, astounded by my own naivety.
