Chapter 3: Chapter 3: It Was My EX

In the days that followed Emma's death, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to her suicide than the note had revealed. I couldn't stop thinking that there had to be a reason, a clue that would help me understand why she had taken her own life.

I knew that the police had already searched through her phone and laptop, but I couldn't shake the feeling that they might have missed something. So, I made the decision to hack into her devices myself.

It wasn't easy. Emma had always been very private and had multiple layers of security on her phone and laptop. But I was determined, and after a few days of trying, I finally managed to gain access.

What I found on her devices was both shocking and heartbreaking. Emma had been acting strangely for the past month, and she had been scared all the time, even behind my back. She had been receiving strange messages, and she had been searching the internet for information on suicide and depression.

I couldn't believe that I hadn't noticed. I had been so busy with work and planning our wedding that I hadn't seen the signs. Emma had been struggling, and I hadn't been there for her.

I felt guilty and responsible for not being there for her, for not noticing her pain. I felt like I let her down, and I couldn't shake the feeling that if only I had been more attentive, if only I had been there for her, she would still be alive.

My job as a programmer in the AI department had been keeping me busy with a big project, and it had been consuming most of my time. I had been working long hours, coming home late and exhausted, and I had let that take priority over my relationship with Emma.

But as I delved deeper into her phone and laptop, I found more and more information that made my heart sink. Emma had been receiving threatening messages, and someone had been stalking her. She had confided in her best friend about it, but she had never told me.

I couldn't understand why she hadn't told me. Why she had kept it from me. I felt like she didn't trust me, didn't believe that I could protect her. And that realization was like a punch to the gut.

I knew I would never have all the answers, but the guilt and the feeling of failure was overwhelming. I couldn't shake off the feeling that I could have done something, anything to prevent this tragedy.

I couldn't bring Emma back, but I could make sure that her killer was caught and brought to justice. I would do whatever it takes to find out who was responsible for her death, even if it meant risking my own life.

As I sat there staring at Emma's phone and laptop, tears streaming down my face, I knew that I would never truly understand why Emma did what she did. But I also knew that I would always love her and never forget the time we had together. Emma's death was a tragedy that would haunt me forever, but I would make sure that her killer would pay for what they did.

The next morning, I decided to reach out to Emma's best friend, Sarah. She had been one of the few people who Emma confided in, and I hoped she might have some answers for me. I dialed her number and waited for her to pick up.

"Hello?" came her familiar voice on the other end of the line.

"Sarah, it's Jack. Emma's fiancé," I said, my voice shaking.

"Jack, I'm so sorry about Emma. I can't believe she's gone," Sarah said, her voice filled with sadness.

"I know. I need to talk to you about Emma. I think she was keeping something from me, and I need to know what it is," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Of course, Jack. I'll do whatever I can to help," Sarah said.

We made plans to meet later that day, and I hung up the phone, feeling a sense of dread in the pit of my stomach.

As I walked into the coffee shop where we had arranged to meet, I saw Sarah sitting at a table, staring blankly at her cup of coffee. I couldn't help but notice how much she had changed since the last time I had seen her. Her once bright green eyes were now dull and lifeless, and her hair was pulled back in a messy ponytail.

"Hey Sarah," I said, taking a seat across from her.

"Hey Jack," she said, looking up at me with a sad smile.

"I need to know what was going on with Emma. I think she was keeping something from me," I said, my voice filled with urgency.

Sarah hesitated for a moment before speaking, "Jack, there's something you need to know. Emma confided in me about something that was happening in her life. She was receiving threatening messages, and she was scared."

I felt a lump form in my throat as I listened to Sarah's words. Emma had been keeping something from me, and it had cost her her life.

"I know this is going to be hard for you to hear, but Emma was seeing someone else," Sarah said, her voice barely above a whisper.

I felt like I had been punched in the gut. Emma had been seeing someone else? I couldn't believe it.

"Who was it? I need to know," I said, my voice filled with anger.

Sarah hesitated for a moment before speaking, "It was your ex-girlfriend, Yuna."

I felt like the ground had been pulled out from under me. Yuna? My ex-girlfriend whom I had a toxic relationship with for more than 4 years? I couldn't believe it.

"I don't understand. Why would Emma be seeing Yuna?" I said, my voice filled with confusion.

"I don't know, Jack. Emma never told me the details, but I know that she was scared of Yuna. She said that Yuna was threatening her, and she didn't know what to do," Sarah said, her voice filled with sadness.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Yuna had always been possessive and jealous during our relationship, and I had never realized how dangerous she could be.

I knew that I needed to talk to Yuna and find out what had happened between her and Emma. But as I thought about confronting her, I couldn't shake off the feeling of fear and dread. I didn't know what to expect and what Yuna was capable of.

As I left the coffee shop, I knew that I had to confront Yuna
