Chapter 3: She's my wife
Chanmimg reminisced his past over some puffs of weed. He loved nothing more than being an artist back then. His old brother coddled and protected him, but the thought of everyone he loved died, only made him more determined and furious to Daniel.
"Find them and kill them!" He ordered his men who dashed into the hotel where Fahsai and Daniel were hiding. Sensing someone lurking around, they scurried away. The two get stalled in the middle of the dark road since the car's tires went out, and they sought refuge with an old Japanese man. In the midst of the escape, Fahsai was unaware of her missing purse which fell into the hands of Gang Suer Khao. The contents of the purse, including her journal, served to intrigue Chanmimg since she looked exactly like Botan.
"Find out who she is." He instructed his men to dig around about her.
Daniel on the hand, got in touch with his right hand man.
"I'm fine, just laying low." Daniel assured the latter who was sauntering the streets of Japan. As he passed through a bar though, he spotted a drunk woman asking for his help. It was Big Sis, who needed to help Fahsai but for the life of her, couldn't think through her muddle brain. She accosted the man who happened to pass by, attempting to cling onto him with her poor English.
"I'll help you." The right hand man said in Thai language which she understood. So he took her back to their hotel room, where he found Daniel's dagger.
"Your sister ought to be safe if she's with the boss right now." He sighed as Fai wondered what type of danger her sister was in. "The person who helps the enemy will be punished worse than the enemy." Big Sis put two and two together and passed out. The right hand man knew their rival wanted the Boss's head and Fahsai would be a victim if she happened to get involved.
Daniel and Fahsai found refuge in a small cottage where an old couple lived.
"Who's she?" The old woman asked.
"She's my wife." Daniel said in order to evade any questions.
"Aww, is that so?" The old couple giggled and set a room for them together.
"Whoa, what am I in for?" She demanded.
"It's best if you know nothing." Daniel said.
"Those people already know what I look like and worse, they literally know all my private details by now. It'll be fair if I know something to protect myself." She begged to differ with him and when he remain mum and refused to divulge more details, she tried to leave but Daniel held her back.
"Argh!" She bit him on the hand and this made him realize how different she was from Botan, much feistier. Although he withheld information from her, he felt bad as he watched her cry.
"Even though you want to go home, it is best to let your parents worry about you for a few days than to lose you for the rest of their lives." That gave her food for thought.
Big Sis came to and the right hand man jolted up to ease her to a chair.
"You're still here? You have to tell me more about your estranged Boss." Fai recalled his last words before she passed out. Now that the alcohol haze had been kicked out of her system, she wanted to understand everything that was there to be understood since her little sister's life was at stake.
"She looks just like the Boss's girlfriend." The right hand man told Big Sis.
"What? What if he ends up falling in love with my sister?" She worried.
"Don't worry, the Boss doesn't just love someone that easily." The right hand man assured her. Suddenly, her mother called, startling the latter.
"Perfect timing, isn't it? Hey mom."
"Darling, how are you?"
"I'm fine mom. Mom, can I ask you a question?"
"Go ahead my child."
"Does Fahsai has a long lost twin sister?"
"Not that I know of. Who's telling you such kind of lies? Fahsai is the one and only daughter before I met your Dad." Her mother confirmed.
"Is that's so. Okay, That's all." Big Sis muttered.
"Before you hang up, I'd like to talk to my little girl." Her mother requested.
"I'm sorry mom, Fahsai is somewhere hunting for the facial product and maybe at the temple for some blessings as well." Big Sis lied and her mother was concerned because she knew something was upsetting.
"Maybe she's just stressed about work." Her Dad joined their conversation.
"Ask Dr. Eit himself." Big Sis who didn't want to speak of Dr. Eit's betrayal said to her Dad. The 'good' doctor lied to his fiance that Fahsai was immature and that's why he was attracted to Dr. Kwan, because she was not only someone he loved, but respected and could talk to. That's why he kept calling Fahsai to no avail. Double dipping Big Sis she'd say.
Fahsai on the hand felt like her life had been turned upside down. Yesterday, she was just touring Japan with her sister, but now she was running away from men who might have wanted her dead, not forgetting she was also with a dangerous man.
