Chapter 9: 009: Mercenary Guild

When Arthur entered the Mercenaries Guild's medieval Chinese style building, he was greeted by two beautiful staff, dressed in tight cheongsams that emphasized their very seductive area of their thighs and chests.

"Welcome to Sparrow City's Mercenaries Guild. May I inquire about your business in our establishment, sir?" Said the beautiful staff with the short black hair about her neck. She was so pretty with a beauty mark just below her left eye.

"Yes, I want to directly meet with your boss, Lord Liu Bu. I want to redeem this commision," Arthur hands out the paper.

The other female staff, who has long hair, squinted her eyes upon the paper that he showed to them. "I understand. Lord Liu Bu is in his study. Would you be so kind as to follow me, sir?"

"Right behind you," Arthur replied.

As they walked towards the leader's study, she spoke to her junior. "Xu Ying, please take care of the redeeming process."

Xu Ying, the maid with neck-length hair bowed respectfully to her senior. "Yes, Senior Xiao Yue."

Arthur was guided to Lord Liu Bu's office room which was on the third floor.

It would be a lie if Arthur didn't feel seduced by the beauty of Xiao Yue's body. Arthur couldn't avert his eyes off the voluptuous curves of her waist, especially her plumpy butt, as she walked in front of him.

Xiao Yue felt Arthur's gaze behind her and immediately turned her head. Arthur quickly turned his head away, he worried that she found out that he was ogling her body since the beginning.

However, Xiao Yue's reaction was on the contrary from what he expected. He thought that she would be agitated. Instead, she gave him a coquettish smile and winked at him, playfully lure him to touch her.

"We have arrived, Master Arthur." Arthur's wish to touch Xiao Yue's body vanished when they were at the door of Lord Liu Bu's office.

The beautiful woman knocked on the door, she leaned her body slightly to arouse Arthur's little brother. "Lord Liu Bu, there is someone who wants to see you."

"Just come in," Lord Liu Bu replied. His voice was a little heavy due to the age that had reached him.

Xiao Yue opened the door and let Arthur in. She chuckled faintly, amused by Arthur's reaction when she seduced him in the hallway.

Arthur was eager to get laid with her, if there was a chance to do so.

However, all of his fantasies were obstructed when he faced off with the boss man of the establishment. Arthur never saw a man with such a stature like Liu Bu. Arthur couldn't help but to swallow his dry saliva.

Lord Liu Bu's tall figure, wearing full armor like he was about to go to war, seemed to make the table he was sitting at look small. His long gray hair was tied back into a ponytail. His eyebrows and beard were thick, making his face look even fiercer. Even though his face was starting to wrinkle, his eyes were still sharp like an eagle.

Even though he has big and strong hands, his hand movements are so elegant when he strokes the calligraphy brush upon a framed paper.

As a former member of a gang that has a strict hierarchy, he also understands the code of ethics and manners, interrupting a Senior was very impolite. Not to mention that Liu Bu's strength could easily crush him, even with just a single swing of his finger.

An hour later, Liu Bu just finished what he was doing.

Lord Liu Bu's words were not nonsense. In fact, from the first time Arthur entered the room, he could already feel the murderous aura that Liu Bu was hiding. Very smooth and almost undetectable.

"Yes," Arthur handed over the paperwork, as a sign that the commission had been completed.

While stamping the paper, Liu Bu said, "Those three stupid kids are really troublesome these days, before this, they took other people's jobs. Hence, if they don't come back from hunting the Black Iron Claw Lion in the end, it means they got the Karma they deserve, haha. That's when I knew that you were the one who killed them, Arthur."

When Arthur did not feel any hostility from Liu Bu, he sat down on the chair opposite the big man.

"Take this paycheck and you can redeem it at the front desk." Liu Bu handed him a piece of paper containing a nominal amount of money.

Arthur was shocked when he saw the amount of money was more than he should have earned.

"A THOUSAND GOLD?!?"

"That's the right amount. Think of it as a thank you for taking care of those troublesome people."

Arthur smirked, he understood very well how someone like Liu Bu thought. The money was a token of invitation for Arthur to work under Liu Bu. He firmly believed that Liu Bu was plotting something in Sparrow City.

"Okay. I will accept this money, thank you very much!" Arthur immediately stood up and opened the door.

"I reckon that you have great talent. How about you work with me? Living in the wild must be hard right?"

"Yeah, thanks for the offer, I'll think about it. Until we meet again, Lord Liu Bu."

"And one more thing," Liu Bu said before Arthur left the room. "I don't care which idiot you killed. But… killing the city's guard is a different matter. They are under jurisdiction of the Holy Church. I advise you to leave this city as soon as possible before the heat increases."

"I appreciate your advice. Lord Liu Bu." Arthur cupped his fist, slightly bowed his head and took his leave.

When he went downstairs, Arthur took the time to look at the Quest Board in the main hall of the building.

While looking at the Quests he also listened to the chatter of the other mercenaries who had arrived.

Arthur focused his hearing when he heard a very interesting topic in his ear.

There was a party of mercenaries, a young girl and a handsome young man donned in shiny armor and a pretty dress.

Everyone could immediately guess that they were rich kids from the big city.

They were complaining about a beast interfering with their quest.

"I can't do anything, I am so sorry. Brother Ming, those Timberwolves were indeed very strong." said the slender young woman.

"Never mind Yin-er. At least we can survive and get out of the Wilderness." Ming replied.

Arthur was not interested in where they came from, but he was very curious about the two Timberwolves they mentioned.

"Could it be… Those timberwolves are Skoll and Hati? But how? Our meeting was supposed to happen about several years from now! Wait a minute, does that mean the world is in a completely different timeline?"

Arthur became nervous, his mind became impatient and decided to ask them directly.

"Sorry, I snooped on your chatter. May I know, where did you guys meet this pair of Timberwolves?"

Yan-er's eyes immediately showed an expression of disgust when she saw Arthur's look which, according to the girl, was very lowly. Moreover, Arthur's silvery white hair, which was the hallmark of one of the West Continent's barbarians.

Ming took a step in front of Yan-er. "We met them in the Southern Wilderness. 500 li from here."

"No, I'm just curious. What kind of wolf could make 3 Star Realm Warriors like you bother with it. Are the wolves really that strong, or are you just too timid?"

Ming was infuriated upon hearing such a barbaric person slandering him in front of his lover.
