Chapter 3: Chapter Three: The Cannibal.
As all 17 of my scorpions gather up, I have them follow the direction that the 2 surviving goblins ran away in, and it's not long before they find the entrance to the enemy dungeon.
He is probably expecting some random forest mobs and not an organised assault so I should hit him fast and hard.
With my plan in mind I ordered my scorpions to rush in and kill anything that moves while making their way towards the core.
Hissing Chitters are the only response I get as they rush into the dungeon only to find themselves in another forest...
This motherfucker used his random floor environment on the 1st floor... Great,
just great... Actually this is great! hahah after I kill him I'll do the same thing! it will help with creating an ecosystem for my monsters and, I'm getting ahead of myself...

My self monologue is abruptly cut off by the chimes of my notifications, my scorpions had been intercepted by a small group of 3 goblins and have just rolled over them with relative ease out numbering them by almost 6 to 1 it was a slaughter actually. 'heh, keep on keeping on boys! we gotta get this guy as fast as possible!' I think as I give the command to follow the mana source to where the Core is hidden.
Yeah that's right we "Dungeon Cores" produce a mana signature Which is something I found out from the beginners guide book and was something that i didn't even notice till I read it, so that was like a slap in the face or bucket of cold water dumped over my Core.
Anyway, its why I should start getting invaders coming into my own Dungeon anytime now, and also why I am constantly increasing my number of summons.
I'm just so frecken glad I bought that thing.
Quickly using the mana I just obtained from those three kills I summon 3 more scorpions from the spawner and have them guard me with the other 6 but as I'm doing this I am also noticing something that makes me want to throw away that newfound plan. and that's the fact that my scorpi-squad has been able to avoid pretty much all of the enemies in the floor and just make a bee line to the core!
Like, if anyone can sense where it is, what's the point of having large environment floors? should I just make lots of maze floors so I can trap and stall invaders for longer?
Another thought for later. Though I guess if the core isn't on the environmental floors that whole thought process is voided as it wouldn't matter... maybe I'm getting ahead of myself?

Huh? Well that was quick... 'let's go little dudes you got this shit!' I cheer on my 17 not so little scorpi-dudes as they chitter and hiss at their success and make their way towards the exit of the the dungeon.
As the scorpi-squad moves through the lush green landscape of trees and scattered vines one of the squad is suddenly entangled and it let's out a hiss of surprise before it is abruptly pulled up off the ground and into the canopy of branches and leafs.
Ding!

'Well shit...'
'I'm sorry my dude that's gotta suck.'
I apologise for my scorpions unfortunate accident and notice that thankfully, the rest of the squad just kept moving. Showing that they, at least, have alot more focus then I do anyway, haha.
Reaching the exit of the dungeon my boys come across the remaining goblins as they guard it against my villainous squad of merry murder bugs. There is 8 in total, 4 with clubbed branches and 4 with long sharpened sticks that resemble very crude spears.
Unperturbed by this scene my boys continue forward while I ordered the one carrying the core to hang back a little bit for safetys sake.
What happened next could be said to be an epic battle of great proportions... just kidding, it was another slaughter. the goblins would have done better if they weren't so focused on retrieving the core but alas. the 4 goblins with spears rushed forward into the incoming... wave? (might be a bit of an overstatement there.) of scorpions, trying desperately to retrieve their master from the pincers of the infuriating black insects. only to be met with the stingers of 16 killermaticians! the amount of poison that was pumped into the goblins had them dropping like meat bags in seconds. Not even waiting for them to hit the floor, the bloodied black bandits marched onwards never stopping for more time then it took to kill the next batch, which again was surprisingly quick.
It wasn't til my scorpions had left the dungeon with the core and were a third of the way back that I got the notifications for kills landing me another 120 exp and 80 mana for the reserves.
Using the time I had left before my scorpions arrived i summoned 5 more beauty's, thus bringing my total up to 30 for a nice uneven even number... 'Damn I need 10 more or this is going to give me the shits.'
'If I still had hands I would be pulling my hair out... wait, I don't have hair anymore... NO!!!! my beautiful hair!'
*Hiss!!* *Chitter Chitter!* *Hiss!!* *Hiss!*
The sound my guardian's cheers for their victorious returning comrades brings me back to focus from my self-misery.
The core is quickly brought before me and the system's notification chimes out in my mind before a message is displayed.
Ding!
[Detection of a defeated core has been found in the hosts proximity, would the host like to consume or subjugate it?]
[Yes Consume.]
[Yes Subjugate.]
'Yeah nah I'm gonna consume that motherfucker, thanks for the meal!'

[Host has chosen to consume the defeated core, please await the following process.]
'Cool cool, so now what?' I thought as before long, a swelling vortex begins expanding from the centre of my core.
I watch in fascination as the enemies core begins to break down into small dust like particles and is sucked through the vortex and into my own core.
A feeling of warmth and power spreads to my very soul, it is almost intoxicating. But as I am being pulled into this new found feeling and In a daze. I hear a soul shattering scream of anguish.
