Chapter 4: Arrival of Letter and Diagon Alley

"That cake was delicious" Alex said wiping his mouth.
"Thanks sweety, I knew you like cheesecake" replied Alex's mother smiling at his antics.
'Alex is a kind and cheerful boy but unlike other kids he doesn't need much attention from parents. He shown interest in drawing comics at some young age and we thought it was like every other kids drawing some cartoons that he watched on television. But his comic were of superheroes and Ethan thought it was a good hobby. But later Alex asked us to read his comics and to help him publishing it. We were happy he was behaving like children of his age as he is always more mature than them and doesn't act like small kids. But the comics were good and after careful thought we encouraged him by publishing it. And the response from sales was crazy. Now there are many companies asking us for discussion about some animation movies. He is a wonder child' though Maria looking proudly at her son.
Suddenly there was a sound of bird wings flapping and an owl came right through the window to dining hall sat on the dining table facing Alex.
"Alex! Get away from it" said Maria panicking at the sight of wild bird.
But Alex was carefully looking at the owl with fascination and said " Mom I think the owl carries a letter"
"Who sends a letter through an owl?" exclaimed Maria who walks towards the owl and took a closer look.
"What's going on here?" asked Ethan who returned from toilet.
"Ethan look, an owl came carrying a letter" said Maria
"A what?" asked Ethan while walking towards Alex and Maria. As he reaches the table there really was an owl.
"Ok let me get the letter" said Ethan as he extends his hand towards the letter which the owl deposited infront of it while carefully watching the owl for any reactions.
The owl hooted and nodded at Ethan who took the letter and took a closer look.
"To Alexander Knight, The Knight Residence, London" read Ethan.
"Wow who sends any letters by owl? Is this some fans of his work?" asked Maria snachting the letter from her husband.
Turing the letter there was a wax seal containg four animals. With a nervous excitement, Mrs. Knight carefully tore open the envelope and pulled out a sheaf of parchment.As she read the letter, her confusion become apparent .
"It's a letter of admittance to a school called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!" she exclaimed. "It says Alex has been accepted!"
"Is this some kind of prank" exclaimed Ethan.
"It says a professor will be arriving for further explanation" replied Maria.
As they were discussing about the prank letter, the sound of a sharp knock on the door echoed through the house. Alexander's father slowly got up and walked towards the door, cautiously peeking through the peephole. He could see a stern-looking woman with a pointed hat and a long cape, who seemed to be staring directly at him.
He took a deep breath and opened the door.
"Good morning Mr. Knight. I am Minerva McGonagall a professor and deputy headmistress of Hogwarts " said the professor.
"Is this some prank?" asked Ethan
"This is not a prank and I will explain to you everything about Hogwarts if you invite me" replied McGonagall.
"Ok, come inside" said Ethan as he invited McGonagall to the living room where Maria and Alex were already seated.
"This is my wife Maria and this is my son Alex and my name is Ethan" said Ethan while introducing his family.
"Good morning Mrs. Knight and Alexander Knight" greeted McGonagall.
As they sat, Professor Mcgonagall explained the world of magic, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and what Alexander could expect from his time there. She answered all of their questions and even demonstrated a simple spell, which made their coffee cups levitate in mid-air.
By the end of the meeting, Alexander's parents were amazed by the world of magic and eager for their son to experience it.
"Now I will bring you to magical shopping street called Diagon alley where Alexander can purchase his books and supplies where the muggle entrance is in Charing cross road" said Mcgonagall.
After a short ride in the car they arrived at leakey cauldron where the family didn't stay and quickly arrived at the entrance to Diagon alley. Professor Mcgonagall took out her wand, tapped it against the bricks three times, and with a loud creaking noise, a hidden doorway appeared.
"Welcome to Diagon Alley," said Professor Mcgonagall as she stepped through the doorway. Alex and his parents followed, their eyes wide with wonder as they took in the bustling wizarding shopping street.
Stalls lined both sides of the cobblestone road, each selling an array of magical items. Ethan and Maria marveled at the magical alley where are post owls in their cages, the colorful potions bubbling in their cauldrons, and the spell books bound in dragon hide.
Professor McGonagall led the way to Gringotts Wizarding Bank. Inside the bank, goblins in tall pointed hats sat behind high desks, counting piles of gold coins.
Alex's parents opened account for him at the bank and deposit a good amount of money in his account. Professor Mcgonagall raised eyebrows at the amount of money being deposited.
After visiting the bank as they walk down the cobblestone streets, Professor McGonagall points out different shops and explains their purpose to Alex and his parents.
After a short walk they came to their destination.Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C
The shop's window display consisted of only one wand resting on a worn-out purple cushion. The interior was small and empty, except for a delicate chair situated in the corner. An enormous number of skinny boxes filled with wands were stacked to the ceiling, and the entire store was covered in a light layer of dust.
"Now Mr. Knight you should enter the shop, as it considered very private moment for the wizard to choose a wand I will be waiting here" said McGonagall
Alex enters the wand shop alone. The shop seems empty and there is no one on sight but Alex picked up a presence from behind steadily approaching. So he did what any rational person will do in this situation, he quickly got a small smoke bomb he created imitating ninjas from the pocket and threw it beside him.
"Poof"
A dark small enveloped Alex. As smoke cleared there was no one in his position.
Ollivander was shocked by the events and started looking for Alex. Suddenly a figure came from the shadow behind Ollivander.
"Boo"
"Aaa" yelled Ollivander and turned around to see the young wizard who came to buy the wand.
"It is not everyday that I got the same treatment that every young witch and wizard experience when entering my shop" sighed Ollivander who overcome the shock
"Now who are you young man?" asked Ollivander
"I am Alexander Knight" Alex replied
"Now let's get to buisness. It's always a special moment when a young wizard comes to choose their first wand. Which is your wand arm?"
Alex extended his right arm and a tape flew from the desk and taking measurements including his nose bridge.
"Every Ollivander wand has a core of a powerful magical substance, Mr Knight. We use unicorn hairs, phoenix tail feathers, and the heartstrings of dragons. No two Ollivander wands are the same, just as no two unicorns, dragons, or phoenixes are quite the same. And of course, you will never get such good results with another wizard's wand." said Ollivander as he brought a wand to Alex and takes it back even befor allowing him to touch it.
The wand selection continued and Ollivander brought a wand and hand it to Alex.
"Now try this. 12 and 1/2 inch English oak with Pheonix feather, perfectly balanced"
As Alex touched the wand a warm feeling crept from his hand and it produced golden sparks.
"Ah I see the wand chooses you Mr. Knight. English oak wand is a faithful friend for both good and difficult times, and it is best suited for the wizard who deserves it. Wands made from English oak require a wizard with strength, bravery, and loyalty. In Britain, oak trees are considered the "King of the Forest" and symbolize power, protection, and abundance."
"That will be 7 gelleons"
After handling the money Alex exit the store.
"Now that you have attained your wand you can purchase your items in the list. I will be going as I have some more families to meet. I will see you at September 1st Mr. Knight " said McGonagall and she leaves Knight family who continued their shopping.
