Chapter 42: Captain Wei Is Out To Get His Mid-Laner

Thud.

A dull sound was suddenly heard coming from somewhere. Aunt Xing hastily dropped everything and ran upstairs to the Second Young Master's bedroom.

With panic in her eyes, her right hand was ready to knock on the door. Simultaneously, an agonizing scream was heard piercing through the thick door.

"Arghhhhhh, why did I do that?!!!!"

"I should have just waited before typing arghhhh!!!"

"Why does my narcissistic disease need to act up now of all time?! Just why?!"

Roughly making out the content of his headless speech, Aunt Xing's heart readily fell back into the right place. She slowly retracted her outstretched hand and helplessly shook her head.

This child, why making such a big fuss about losing a mere game?

Little did Aunt Xing know. It was not the game that Fu Yue lost but...

His dignity.

Inside his fully lit room, Fu Yue with a flushed face was clawing at the wall. Once in a while, he would bang his head hoping that he could temporarily forget what had just transpired.

Growing up this big, Fu Yue has never been ashamed as much as this.

Of course, a man of that caliber wouldn't fall for a tall big guy like him at first sight! What the hell was he thinking ah ah ah!

Hitting his head against the wall for one more time, Fu Yue forcibly suppressed his shame and sat back down.

Anyways, 009 must have been shocked by his cold-hearted answer. He should say something to ease the atmosphere.

With this thought in mind, Fu Yue's sight reflexively settled on the man's latest question and momentarily overlooked his previous chat.

[Number 009: May I know the reason?]

Seeing that the other side was not offended, Fu Yue subconsciously bit his lower lip.

As expected, the other person mistook his rejection for his team invitation...

He should be happy with this misunderstanding but instead, his heart was filled with anxiety.

On one hand, Fu Yue was staring at Yuelan. At the moment, YL was preparing for their international stages so the Mid position hasn't been vacant yet.

Fu Yue would need to wait for the transfer period or when YL officially announced they were looking for the Mid-Laner.

Even though his resume was lacking, he was confident in passing the interview.

With this goal in mind, he shouldn't be swayed by a random invitation from an unknown person.

However, Fu Yue became hesitant after playing together with this person. He even thought about how good would it be if his Jungler in the pro team were to be him.

That's why after receiving an offer from the said person Fu Yue was stuck in a dilemma.

Not even his previous Jungler clicked this well with him so he was reluctant to miss such a good teammate.

Fu Yue hopelessly glued his eyes on the keyboard as if trying to find an answer among those alphabet letters.

Shortly after, Fu Yue closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"I think it is better to grab this person."

With this person's strength, he would succeed in the e-sport industry. Following him was not a bad idea...

Speaking of which, what was his team again?

A while ago, Fu Yue was rather flustered, therefore, he only got a quick glimpse of his message. His mind was thrown into disarray upon catching the phrase 'I would like to invite you to join my team' so he ignored the rest of his message.

Fu Yue promptly shifted his attention to the man's previous chat. The brain that has just been fixed was short-circuited once more.

His pair of violet eyes were wide open and his heart appeared to stop beating for a split second.

Even after rapidly blinking, and harshly rubbing his eyes multiple times those ridiculous words remained the same which proved that he hadn't read incorrectly.

When it dawned on him that he was indeed not wrong, he was so scared out of his wit that he screamed out loud, "TM... SILENCE?!"

Silence? That Silence???

Fu Yue was extremely perplexed by this ridiculous situation.

Against his will, his brain started to replay those embarrassing moments but this time, 009 was replaced by Silence, the legendary Jungler.

Did I shamelessly say that I will carry a two-time world champion?

Did I badmouth Junglers in front of the number 1 Jungler?

Did I make a joke saying that Silence has no friends?

Did I... Say that I like Silence to the man himself?!

Did I! Did I think that Silence liked me romantically?!

Fu Yue's right hand tremblingly went to cover his mouth in disbelief. His pupils shook as his beautiful countenance started to fade in color projecting quite a pitiful picture to the onlooker.

As if his soul had left his body, Fu Yue did not move for a long time.

Meanwhile, on the other side, due to Fu Yue's lack of response, Wei Chen couldn't help but feel a bit restless.

Earlier today, he was confident in recruiting him. Later tonight, after Yueyue said he was his ideal Jungler, he thought it was only a matter of time for him to sign this player.

However, reality spoke the opposite.

Not only was he mercilessly rejected, but the other person even started to give him the cold shoulder...

The mighty Silence has never received this kind of treatment before that's why it felt rather fresh to him.

Wei Chen languidly leaned against the chair. His gaze stubbornly remained on the computer screen. His slender fingers rhythmically tapped on the armrest appearing to be in deep thought.

Has someone already approached him?

Wei Chen's blue eyes deepened in color at this possibility.

Right as he was coming up with another plan to persuade this talent, a reply finally popped up pulling him back from his train of thought.

[No Inted Just Bad: Captain Wei, please excuse my rudeness. I thought you were talking about something else...]

After reading this message, Wei Chen's eyes were briefly stagnant. Shortly after, he stifled a light laugh upon figuring things out.

Well... It is not Yueyue's fault to have that kind of misunderstanding.

Wei Chen was well aware that his mannerisms caused a lot of misunderstanding in both good and bad ways.

Some said he was rude, some said he was honest while some said he was misleading.

Regardless, Wei Chen has never cared about others' opinions regarding himself.

Back then, he was a bit intentional with the thought of entertaining Yueyue's viewers in mind.

He figured that an Alpha like Yueyue wouldn't misinterpret him who was also an Alpha and treated them as a mere joke.

No wonder he was in a rush to reject him.

He must have felt uncomfortable having another A look at him in that way.

[Number 009: No worry. It is impossible for that to happen.]

Wei Chen wanted to give the other side reassurance but he did not realize that his blunt answer dealt another huge blow to Fu Yue's self-esteem.

Fu Yue laughed out of speechlessness, "Haha... I know that it is ridiculous but do you have to put it that way?"

"Impossible? I am this good-looking but you say that I am below your standard?"

[A/N: Wei Chen did not say that.]

Fu Yue softly grumbled, "You are not my type either."

[No Inted Just Bad: I am considering Yuelan]

[Number 009: May I ask how old are you?]

Fu Yue momentarily paused with this question. His age was one of his shortcomings so perhaps even Silence would back away after knowing his real age.

[No Inted Just Bad: 21]

His answer fell and the other side took quite a long time to type his answer. Having experienced this beforehand Fu Yue doubted the other side was nervous about what to say.

Most likely he was compiling reasons to dissuade him from becoming a professional player with his 'old' age.

However, what came next caught Fu Yue completely off guard.

[Number 009: Then you should start playing for the next season. Going to the youth training camp and playing for the second team would only waste your time so I don't recommend doing them. Being a substitute for the top-tier team is your second-best option. Taking this route, at least you would guarantee exposure to some extent. A player with your talent would be sure to get noticed and secure a spot as a starting player for season 12 with no doubt.]

[Number 009: Your playstyle can be easily integrated into Yuelan but you will need to yield a lot of resources to XiaoXi and be prepared to get signed with a bare minimum salary since YL paid a lot to keep their Bot Lane.]

[Number 009: Being a substitute in Sunzheng is even worse. Most likely, you would never see the spotlight and stay backstage unless Zizi had accidents or was in a really bad form would you have the chance to step out.]

[Number 009: Iceborn centered around the Top Lane and from what I've heard, they have no intention of changing their Mid Laner. Even if they did, they like to play slow and steady which does not suit you.]

[Number 009: That's being said come to Tianmeng.]

Fu Yue: "..." All those words were just a setup for this last sentence, right?

Even though Fu Yue could see through his hidden intention, it was undeniable that Silence did not bluff and spoke objectively.

Joining TM was but a pipe dream for a small game anchor like him so he did not even include TM in his options.

YL was a mid-tier team. This season they bled a lot to buy XiaoXi and Time to be their Bot Laners, therefore, they wouldn't spend much on him a mere rookie like what Silence stated.

In this second life, Fu Yue did not lack money but it did not sit well with him if he were to be signed with such little salary.

However, for his future career, he was prepared to be signed with a low salary as long as he was able to get into the team of his choice.

[No Inted Just Bad: Are you saying that becoming a substitute for TM is my best option?]

Since Silence vouched for him Fu Yue could easily enter TM as a substitute player. TM received a lot of attention from the media so being their substitute player was not a bad idea.

[Number 009: No.]

Silence's reply left Fu Yue puzzled. It was not until he saw his next words did he understood his meaning.

[Number 009: Becoming TM's starting Mid Laner for the upcoming season with a high salary is your best option.]

Even thinking with his toe, Fu Yue knew that the last option was the best thing that could happen to him.

But... It sounds too good to be true.

[No Inted Just Bad: Captain Wei, have you already discussed this with the Coach and higher-ups?]

[Number 009: As we speak, Coach He is reviewing our games.]

In other words, those that needed to be asked haven't been informed yet.

Fu Yue gave a long sigh. Even if Silence were to be the captain, he couldn't recruit a random person into the team as he wished.

The real decision-makers were TM's owners and shareholders.

[No Inted Just Bad: Thank you for thinking highly of me but I know my boundary. I couldn't possibly become a starting player with nothing to show to TM]

Silence seemed to realize that he was being rejected once more for him not typing anything afterward.

Fu Yue gave a wary laugh and was about to bid him farewell when all of a sudden the other side asked him a favor.

[Number 009: Give me one day.]

[No Inted Just Bad:?]

[Number 009: I will bring the contract to you.]

Fu Yue was deeply shocked at his declaration. He could no longer understand Silence's brain circuit.

How is he going to convince others in such a short time?

[No Inted Just Bad: ...Is TM in such a dire situation?]

[Number 009: You can say so but more importantly...]

Fu Yue curiously raised his brows wanting to see what the man had to say next to hold onto him.

[Number 009: I am afraid of you being snatched away from me.]

Fu Yue: "..." Do your fans know that you have such a glib tongue?
