Chapter 17: Assassin

When the class was over and they were walking back to the common room, Severus came up to Virgil. "Thanks for what happened in class."

"Don't mention it." Virgil waved his hand. "I didn't like the smug look on that Potter kid's face anyway."

Rabastan nodded in agreement. "I don't know why he feels he's so superior."

"You don't know?" Shane sneered behind them. "His parents are old and treat him like a treasure. He is probably the most spoiled brat in this school."

"How can you call someone the same age as you a brat, it makes you sound like an old man." Dalilah looked at Shane with contempt.

Shane just shrugged, used to Dalilah putting people down all day.

"I feel like this won't be the last of it." Virgil chimed in as they reached the entrance of the common room. Virgil glanced at Severus at his side. "He looks like a person who holds a grudge."

Severus wasn't surprised. Since they met on the train he knew what kind of person James was.

Virgil's eyes turned toward the wall in front of him as he whispered. "Pure blood."

The group walked in and the room went silent. The senior students were looking at them with strange eyes.

Before they could figure out what was going in, Narcissa walked over with her blonde hair swaying with her steps. Her face was frosty but her eyes were spitting fire.

"It's the first day of school! You only had three classes and you made a fuss in two of them?!" She stopped in front of Virgil and grabbed his cheeks with her fingers.

Virgil's eyes opened wide from the pain of having his cheeks pinched.

"Do you think this is a playground?!"

Everyone stepped back from Narcissa in fear and Dalilah snickered.

Narcissa's head turned mechanically and she reached over with one hand and pulled Dalilah's ear. "Do you think this is funny?!"

"Ahh ahh no, no!" Dalilah winched in pain and the others moved even farther away.

The senior students all had smiles on their faces as they watched the first years suffer.

"Okay Narcissa, the other houses suffered just as much as us." Lucius walked over and tried to calm Narcissa down.

Narcissa let go and glared at the two before walking away.

Lucius looked at Virgil and showed an embarrassed smile. "Don't mind her, she is still upset about Sirius and took her anger out on you."

After he finished speaking he went after his girlfriend.

Virgil rubbed his sore cheek and breathed a sigh of relief. He was suppressing his spellbook from automatically counterattacking, he hadn't had time to change the setting before she pinched him.

Using his embarrassment as an excuse, he went straight toward his room.

The others didn't follow to keep it from being awkward. They were the ones who made trouble yet Virgil was berated. Only Rabastan was depressed because the others pulled him to sit in the common room.

Back in the room, the corners of Virgil's lips curled. He looked at a long strand of blonde hair pinched between his fingers. "Do you think you can take your anger out on me without repercussions?"

"I was going to have Andromeda brought to me after getting pregnant, but you will do, for now."

Virgil pulled the hair between his fingers and the hair shimmered with a slight light. Holding the ends, he started forming different runes with the hair.

ᛈᛒᛚᛜ

When the last rune was formed he straightened out the hair and it flashed with a silver light. The hair transformed into a golden snake that coiled around his arm.

"The serpent of fertility, wait till nightfall to find your host." The snake slithered from his arm and disappeared under the gap in the door.

Virgil walked to his bed and lay down. He placed his hands behind his head and fell into thought. "This place lacks a little color without Tom or his followers attacking every year. It feels like nothing more than an ordinary school."

"How is this place safer with Tom at full power?" Virgil shook his head and knew the answer. Voldemort feared death more than any other. Dumbledore was a shadow in his heart that he couldn't ignore.

Growing up during the period of Dumbledore's rise would put pressure on anyone.

Unless he drew Dumbledore into his territory he wasn't 100% sure to take the old man down in a duel.

While Virgil was thinking, the door to the room was pushed open and the others walked in.

"He's not doing his homework, you lost Rabastan." Henry looked at Rabastan with a smug look.

Rabastan took a galleon from his pocket and flicked it over without caring. "Who knew he wouldn't have his head buried in a book for a change."

Virgil sat up and looked at his roommates. "Thanks for reminding me, I'm heading back to the library."

Virgil jumped from his bed and walked towards the door.

"Don't forget to eat dinner." Rabastan waved his hand and watched him go.

Severus looked towards Rabastan with a look of confusion. "Has he always been like this?"

"It's better to say every Shafiq is like this." Shane sat on his bed and crossed his legs. "Everyone with a little knowledge knows."

Virgil went back up to the fourth floor and entered the library. He walked between the shelves and grabbed a few books on alchemy.

He sat at a table and started reading.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

While Virgil was in the library, Hassan was standing in a corner of Gringotts in stealth. She had been watching the Goblins for the past few days and figured out their routine.

They live in a village called Gobnock in the middle of a national park away from muggles.

The Goblins had their own small society free from human influence.

She had to come back to the bank because all the Goblin metalsmiths worked there.

Hassan waited until night fell and the Goblins began closing the door to the bank.

"Those foolish wizards are killing each other again, it hasn't even been a century since last time." An old-looking goblin held a large golden key and locked the door to the bank from the inside.

"If they manage to hurt the bones we may be able to gain more benefits." A younger goblin walked from behind the counter. A look of greed was plastered on his face and he kept rubbing his hands together.

A different goblin sneered as he packed his things. "Fool, the turmoil hasn't even left the UK this time."

"Don't argue here, everyone go back to Gobnock. It's not safe to linger here when the Aurors leave the streets at night." The head goblin put the key into his pocket and yelled at the others.

"Yes, Chief."

The Goblins started apparating one after another until the last three were left.

Just when they started apparating, three rune stones flew from the void like bullets and hit them. A ᚾ flashed and their apparition was canceled. The three Goblins were pulled back and landed on the floor with a thump.

"What!!" The Goblins screamed in pain. Two were missing arms and legs while the chief goblin was cut in half at the waist.

Hassan's body wearing a tattered black cloak and a skull mask was revealed the moment she attacked. "Seems like you aren't used to having your apparition interrupted after all."

While speaking her hands didn't stop. With a wave of her hands, three darts flew forward and stabbed into their body.

The moans of the Goblins ceased instantly as the drought of the living dead flowed into their bodies.

Black mist gushed from Hassan's body and surrounded the three Goblins. The next moment Hassan vanished with the three. In her place was a black box with a fingernail-sized gem in the center.

A moment later, a few goblins apparated back into the bank holding body parts with a look of horror on their faces. "Chief!!"

The moment the goblins appeared, the crystal on the box picked up the magical fluctuations and clicked.

All the goblins heard the sound and looked over. A blinding white light filled Gringotts followed by a rippling explosion.

The doors and windows were blasted out and even the roof started collapsing.

Under the rubble, the bodies of the Goblins were now destroyed and mixed with the body parts brought back. Now no one will know three goblins were captured and instead think they were dead in an attack.

Hassan appeared on the lawn in front of a nice-looking wooden villa. A large lake was at her back and the night sky was above her head. A wall of trees served as both the border and a place for small creatures to live.

This was the small world inside Virgil's book for him to relax.

The door to the cabin opened and Victoria walked out in a red dress. "I've been waiting for you, Miss Hassan."

She walked out with three fairy puppets walking behind her.

"Take them to the dungeon and deal with their wounds." Victoria ordered the puppets and continued towards Hassan.

"Did Virgil have a message for me when I arrived?" Hassan took off her skull mask and hooked it to her waist.

Victoria shook her head. "He didn't say anything. He should know you're here now and will let you out later."

Hassan waved her hand and didn't care. She knew Virgil had complete control of this book. She walked into the villa and went to Virgil's workshop.

She sat cross-legged on the floor and closed her eyes. Now that her mission was completed she just needed to wait for her next task.
