Chapter 56: Unexpected Plans

One day later...

"So, what do you think of the proposal?" Jacob asked the new leader of the army he had defeated. The man had a barbaric and cruel appearance, with a bald head and a beard that emphasized his furious expression.

"Hm, so you're telling me that you only want us to be able to tell your enemies that you have us?" The man's voice echoed through the prison where they were. "Why? That makes no sense."

Jacob sighed. "For someone like me, who seeks the top in days of massacre after massacre, I need men who are willing to follow orders, you understand? But I'm willing to not use them as pawns. How about it? You'll still receive houses to live in and food, but you'll have to work. Understand?" Jacob's voice was as cold as a blade at someone's throat.

The man thought for a moment, weighing the consequences of allying with Jacob. After several minutes of reflection, he smiled and extended his hand to Jacob while saying, "On behalf of all 300 men, I accept." Without hesitation, Jacob shook the man's hand and said, "It's good doing business with you, Mr. Blake."

In a simple tavern, Jacob was drinking a small amount of alcohol with John. "Do you think they will betray us?" asked John, curious about the idea of bringing the enemy inside their home.

"They may try, but Angela is keeping an eye on them. I gave her permission to kill anyone who tries to do something," replied Jacob as he downed the alcohol in one gulp.

John thought about the information and asked again, "What are you planning to do with the heroes? They are a considerable force for your future empire." Jacob sighed tiredly and replied, "Tell Ryan to start using his ability and produce more food. Then, come to me with Ellie."

John was not bothered by the lack of precise answers, he got up and left to follow Jacob's orders. He bid farewell with a nod of his head and left the tavern.

After John left, Jacob heard a soft and calm voice say, "You're cold, you know that?" He was not surprised, as he knew someone was spying on him, and asked, "What do you want, Angela?" Angela quickly revealed herself, appearing in front of him and serving him a shot of rum as she spoke, "You're planning to attack a city, aren't you?"

Jacob was surprised to hear this assertion, but did not show it on his face and took the shot served while asking, "Why do you think that?"

"Because it's impossible to create a kingdom without deaths and looting. You need to loot the gold and silver of your enemies. But you, Jacob Voss, are an enemy of any city belonging to the human kingdom. That means you will invade a city to create notoriety and loot resources. Am I right?" concluded Angela, exposing what she thought about Jacob's next steps.

"Not bad..." replied Jacob, showing Angela that she was right about his next steps. "But don't be mistaken, it's not just about looting resources and creating notoriety. I'm building an empire, and for that, I need territory and resources. And yes, that may include invading cities and fighting against other kingdoms. My goal is bigger than that. I want to create a new empire, a new order, a new way of governing. And for that, I need resources and an army strong enough to face any opponent."

Angela looked at him with a mixture of admiration and concern. She knew Jacob was an ambitious and determined man, capable of achieving his goals at any cost. But she also knew that this could lead him to commit great atrocities along the way.

"And do you think you're prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve this goal?" Angela asked, looking directly into Jacob's eyes with a suspenseful air.

Jacob looked at Angela with a satisfied smile. He knew she was right in her suspicions and was grateful to have someone so intelligent by his side. "You know I'll do whatever it takes to achieve my goals," he said, keeping his gaze fixed on Angela.

She nodded, seeming satisfied with Jacob's answer. "I know," she replied, her voice tinged with a somber tone. "But be careful, Jacob. You're underestimating your enemies, and that can be dangerous."

Jacob fell silent for a moment, pondering Angela's words. She was right, he had underestimated his enemies before, and it had almost cost him dearly. But this time, he was more prepared than ever. "Don't worry," he finally said. "I have a plan."

Angela looked at Jacob with a mixture of curiosity and concern. She knew he was an intelligent and cunning leader, but she also knew that his enemies were many and powerful. "And what is this plan?" she asked.

Jacob smiled again, this time with a malicious gleam in his eyes. "You'll find out soon enough," he replied enigmatically. And with that, he got up and left the tavern, leaving Angela alone to ponder what was to come.

Moments ago...

Watching everything through a screen was a young man, amused as he observed everything unfolding. "So, you've decided to bet it all?" murmured the young man. "Alright, it'll be fun to see what you're planning to do, Jacob Voss."

Jacob didn't realize he was being watched by the boy, but he still had confidence in his plans. He knew he had to bet it all to get what he wanted. Meanwhile, Angela was observing Jacob's reaction, trying to decipher his thoughts. "And do you think you're prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve this goal?" Angela asked, staring into Jacob's eyes with a suspenseful air.

The boy on the screen smiled, knowing this would be fun to watch. He didn't know exactly what Jacob was planning, but he was sure it would be something entertaining to see...

Author's note:

Sorry for the delay ): I was updating my other novel.

The final scene, for those who didn't understand, was of someone watching them through a screen.
