Chapter 159: The Roar That Started It All

Hidden beneath some corpses, a familiar face was found by the ghoulish heroine.

"Well, Well, Well, you managed to evade this bloodsucker's technique?" giving her best impression of a smile, she grabbed the redcap goblin by the head.

For some reason, he looked a fair bit paler than before and it wasn't solely due the fact that he was crapping his pants.

"Huh, did you stop your heart to avoid the effects or something? Shame you couldn't do it for a little bit longer, I would have missed you otherwise" preparing to blast his brain into mush, she was interrupted before she was able to.

She reflexively tighetened her grip, killing the goblin anyways but he attention was elsewhere.

A madness-infused roar washed over the area, it felt like it was coming from everywhere all at once, for a second, she even began to hear it inside of her head and see visions of a contorting mass of white limbs.

The image of a draconic head adorned with three eyes flashed inside of her mind, two a bright yellow that simply oozed incomprehensible insanity, the third one, in the center of its forehead, was a familiar color.

It also oozed insanity but one even purer, the combine malice and madness of humanity simply couldn't compare to what the third eye inspired.

As quickly as the roar appeared, it vanished and the dreadful influence that was definitely trying to shatter her mind went away.

Superstes got out of it just fine, but she was powerful and protected by the gold, it made no doubts that those affected by it without her ability to resist would have instantly died.

'This purple... Mov' remembering Sir Solitar's words concerning this bizarre forces of nature, she couldn't help but wonder what the hell was going on.

Somehow, even though it was purely instinctive and driven by her centered hatred, she just knew that Axiolypito had a hand in this.

'Let's hurry' she thought this but she still had to recover from her normally more than lethal injuries.

Finding some clean water, she got rid of the viscera's and multiple layers of blood coating her, careful not to open any of her wounds any further, she ignored the stinging pain and focus on recuperating the healing ability of her energy.

It took a while to recover but once it did, just like everything else about her, it showed a significant improvement.

It still took a little while for her condition to return to its best and scars were left anyways, still, she was as good as new for all that mattered.

Looking at herself briefly through the reflection of a window, she touched the left side of her face, the one that had received the most brutal of damage.

An odd scar extending from the side of her mouth all across her cheek had now appeared, awfully reminiscent of a certain monster's own battle wound...

Ignoring it, she got her clothes back on and moved on to do what she had come here for in the first place.

Crawling underneath the guild, she activeted her golden eyes and wasn't disappointed.

The presence left by Axio was much stronger here, not only had he seemingly grown in power since the village, he had used abilities extensively and remained here for a long period.

Oddly enough, she was able to make out the shape of his spawners and came out of them, hinting that they were considered a part of him as a person.

Superstes couldn't see mages using magic or such, despite them using their own mana.

This must mean that Axiolypito was actually creating his spawners out of himself directly...

The spawned creatures also counted as being pieces of him, if his spawners could exist indifinitely and constantly produce a steady amount of creatures...

'Wouldn't that meant his flesh possess infinite energy or something like that?' she had heard a few things from Sir Solitar after his encounter with Axio.

The towers that had began appearing in Amor during the invasion where pretty much certain to be Axiolypito's own creation, although she technically didn't know for sure.

'Reproduction' the wretch at the village and the one she had fought a while ago were proof of this ability.

'Spawners' she had just witnessed this facet of his powers, here, he had used it to summon forth termites to eat through the foundations of the guild.

'And possibly some sort of tower creation ability...' taking in the fact that he was also said to be illogically fast and here was the recipe for ultimate battle of attritions.

Adding some other things she had heard about him, she could only realise that Axio was a terribly versatile combatant.

Even if his claws were only good enough to deal with weak individuals, everything else he possessed already made him a monster worthy of being called a menace.

She would have liked to retrace his steps some more, but not only did she not have any clear idea of where he had gone after this, the roar from earlier was concerning, if she was right and he had to do with it, then Superstes felt like confronting him the earliest would be the best call.

______________________

Dramentia's roar served as a signal, the image of the purple eye appearing inside of their heads made it clear to Sir Solitar and the rest that Axio had succesfully dealt with The Condemned.

The roar carried so far that even when being on another continent entirely, the Obsidian Queen felt it course through her body.

She wasn't quite as rattled as one could have expected however, maintaining her focus over the battlefield.

"Axiolypito, you are quite impatient" she muttered to herself in utter calm.

A few days would pass by without anything else happening, the signal had been given but it wasn't one that announced the beginning of the true hostilities.

Reduvia awaited for Axiolypito's return, already certain of the outcome of the battle but wishing to hear directly from her fellow minister, he had probably gotten more information on the possible second traitor after all.

Stepping into his own throne room, Axio raised one hand at the lich.

"Hey" he exclaimed with a warm smile, waving at her.

She wasn't looking at him however, but at the person behind him.

'How did I not sense them beforehand?' her posture stiffened.

"Thanks for your cooperation, the traitor had been succesfully identified" his 'warm' smile turned grostesque and gross as he gestured toward himself while spouting those words.

"To celebrate, I invited someone else, I am sure you two will hit off just right!"
