Chapter 14: Strength & New Rider

"How you both knew that I won't ask. Yes. Glaedr has agreed to fly us over the lake for a couple of hours while we have a picnic in the moonlight." Oromis said happily.

"Good. By the way, we have news." I said.

"Oh? What news?" Oromis asked.

With a smile, we both answered "We're sending you both on a vacation!"

(Y'all really thought I was going to make them pregnant so soon? Haha. Elves aren't that fertile)

"Vacation? To where?" Oromis asked curiously.

"My old village. It's uninhabited, but the vineyards are still going strong. You won't need to worry about food, just enjoy yourselves." I answered with a smile.

"Thank you. I could use a break from training all the younglings." Oromis said.

"That's why we're sending you both away for two months. We can handle things here for that long." Arya said.

"When do you plan on us leaving?" Oromis asked.

"Tomorrow morning. I've already made a comfortable two seater saddle for Glaedr so the journey is more comfortable for everyone. Glaedr also said he hasn't had a new saddle in over fifty years, so his old one was getting a bit tight." I said.

"Thank you." was all Oromis could say.

"You are welcome. Now go finish Eragons training for the day. I believe you said this should be the day he becomes a full Rider." I said.

"Yes. He is the last one to do it, but he finally noticed the life force of even plants. All I have to do is teach him about transferring life from one being to another or using it to power his spells." Oromis said gravely.

...

Shortly after Eragon leaves with Orik to go help in the battle on the Burning Plains, Ēborisk and Allium lay the first egg to be birthed on more than a century. It was a Silver egg with green accents. Surprisingly enough, after I cast the spell to make the egg only hatch for its Rider, the Queen picked up the egg just for it to start cracking.

"Set it down. It appears you are going to be the newest Rider, Mother." I said while Oromis and Glaedr looked on expectantly.

(A Dragon and Rider will only be able to mate with their counterparts, as seen in the books. Arya refused Eragon until their Dragons started to 'court' each other, so this will apply to the reverse as well. Glaedr has never had a partner since his Rider never had a partner, so he is excited knowing this will be a female and his counterpart)

"Oromis and Glaedr, can I trust the both of you to train them correctly? Or will I need to do it with Arya?" I asked honestly.

"We can do it. She already knows we won't go easy on them" Oromis replied.

'I don't want some spoiled weakling as my partner. I'll be harder on her than I was with Saphira and the other younglings.' Glaedr replied seriously.

"Good. I'll leave everything here in your hands. We are going to help the Humans and Dwarves at the Burning Plains against the army of Galbatorix." I said.

"Be careful. I believe you are close to him in power now, but Ēborisk, while he is as large as Glaedr now, he's still just a bite for Shruikan. Your magic has allowed you to overcome even the Dragons, but now Ēborisk is your weakest link." Oromis said gravely.

"Ah!" I said before casting a silencing spell around us. "I started to use the same spells on him as I do on myself. He's about half as strong as I am now. The only reason he caught up so fast was that Dragons have a naturally higher regeneration and capacity than we Elves do." I said seriously.

"Yet another spell for the high table. We need to get more members." Oromis said thoughtfully.

"I approve of Mother joining after her training is completed. And Arya after this battle. Since we're the only members at the moment, I think it should be both of us approving for anyone new until we have AT LEAST five members outside of the four of us." I said.

"I approve. What about Eragon? Should he be allowed to join?" Oromis asked.

"No. I'm fine with lowering the age from one thousand. But no lower than one hundred. He is not yet twenty...maybe after I take him across the sea to the old lands we could make him a member of the old continent's high table. But here? I believe for now we should keep the Humans out of it. They still think Dragons are just from stories and do not exist." I said.

"Hmm. Yes. I see your point. Damn prophecies. I never did like them." Oromis said before I canceled my spell.

"Congratulations Mother. You are now the newest Rider and will begin your training immediately." I said with a laugh.

"That's fine with me." Islanzadi replied.

"What is your partners name?" Arya asked.

"It is Argeneau." Islanzadi said happily.

(Means Silver. Name of the only romance series I can stand reading for its back story, look up the back story if you're bored)
