Chapter 2: RPG System

Hiruma opened the wooden crate before him in the hollow of the sedgelike valley.

The white light in the area quickly faded, giving way to the gloomy Zoldyck fog.

At the same time, Hiruma was carefully gathering not one but three gifts.

Hiruma's system was concise, directly communicating information to his brain rather than having him read it.

It announced the free rewards Hiruma could get this time:

-The first gift was ten seeds of agility.

A Dragon Quest franchise item. Hiruma had played Dragon Quest XI, so he knew the seeds. But the system's description was more detailed than his knowledge.

Hiruma's agility, acceleration, and the top speed could improve with each seed.

Furthermore, without seeds of perception, seeds of agility would increase relevant aspects of his senses, such as dynamic vision and nervous responses.

It didn't want Hiruma to run into a wall by accident.

He'd made a blunder that had led him to the Hunter X Hunter universe.

The system claimed that this time's gift was exceptional and that the seeds were plentiful but difficult to obtain.

To obtain some, he would have to accept the challenge.

Because for some, increasing his base stats in this manner was equivalent to skipping years of training.

It was a very thoughtful gift. Extremely generous.

Especially since fast people could easily dodge attacks in turned-based combat.

He could, too.

There was no vexing tactical terrain. However, Hiruma's turn-based combat system was built on a fire emblem foundation. The truth was even more blatant in terms of the dodging feature.

However, the speed provided no advantage in terms of strength. It wasn't like Fire Emblem, where quick players could skip others' turns and even attack a target multiple times in the same turn. The second gift was a basic priest-class skill. It was the Heal skill.

It was a very simple and useful skill. Hiruma could heal living things, including lost limbs, as long as he had the stamina.

Hiruma lacked Nen and wondered if he belonged to the enhancer class. Even so, if given the opportunity, he could develop it into a powerful ability. Even if it was still the priest's most basic skill.

- The third gift was the most unexpected. It came as a surprise.

Hiruma was already anticipating the scene where he would take dragons from his monster wagon to stimulate people, knowing he could tame them and have them fight alongside him.

Despite his impatience, he told himself that it would happen later.

He was partially correct.

Hiruma's third present was a Dragon Quest monster delivered to one of his infinite spaces.

The golem was made of stone. The gray Golem variety.

It had incredible endurance and strength.

They had no skills in the games other than smashing their fists and throwing stones.

When some, many monsters actually had fucking weapons...

It was a cool monster to pick up, even if it required training, and wouldn't be one of the strongest when properly raised.

But, for a reason Hiruma kept in mind, it didn't matter.

That's because this world was not the game. In the world of Hunter X Hunter, the golem was already a monster with violent potential.

Furthermore, because he lacked a Max Level, his maximum level was not limited to 100, and he could also learn Nen.

Even if the Nen department he awakened didn't exploit his best natural abilities and talents well, he'd be useful as long as Hiruma lived.

Monsters were defeated rather than killed.

Furthermore, even if there were real problems, which weren't, Hiruma's monsters were loyal. Through the system, they couldn't communicate with anyone except him.

Even if they were under someone's control, he could instantly summon them back to the wagon, and their mental state would return to normal.

What was the source of concern?

Hiruma only needed to quietly cultivate monsters to later shock the world.

If this was a cultivation world... Let's call it training, hehe.

"Excellent start."

Hiruma considered the characteristics of the stone golem in the wagon.

"Let's begin by absorbing the seeds of agility."

Hiruma extracted the ten Pisum-Sativum-like, dull brown seeds with his gaze fixed on the monster's window. Except for their distinct color, they could pass for a pea-wielding plant.

He didn't eat the seeds after taking them out of the inventory because the system didn't require him to.

The items vanished as they entered his abdomen.

Hiruma didn't even think about sharing seeds with his first monster unit.

He had never considered it.

The items were valuable, and he was the only one who could afford to use them right now. Even if the stone golem became faster, speed was never one of his strong suits. The seeds did not affect talent but rather directly improved someone's abilities.

Hiruma felt instantly lighter, not just on his feet but after refining everything he had in hand, which took seconds with the game-like system.

He had an odd smile and wasn't sure about something, so he tested it.

Hiruma pushed himself forward and ran, picking up his feet.

He was stunned after feeling the intense resistance on him during the dash and seeing the end result.

Hiruma had no idea he could move so quickly, and he discovered that wind had actual resistance.

Without his raised, dynamic vision, seeing with the gust on his face would have been difficult.

He had covered about 100 meters in 3 seconds or 109 yards.

According to his memories, his body's previous limit was three times that.

A total of 9 seconds.

Which was nothing to a Nen user but far above the abilities of a layperson. After all, Hiruma was a talent even among the Zoldyck Clan.

Nothing about him was secular.

Since the 10 agility seeds he refined increased his pace thrice, he had grown even uncannier in mere moments.

"Fortunately, the more of this thing there is, the less immediate the effects. I'd be terrified otherwise..."

Hiruma bit his lower lip after noticing how he flew from the gully where he had been standing earlier, almost like an arrow shot from a bowstring.

He wasn't sure if his relief over this concern was normal.

Isn't it true that the more strength he possessed, the better?

But he was taken aback.

"Does Killua run as fast as I do?"

'I recall someone saying that his top speed was about 4 km per min, but this is probably the case when he has yet to learn Nen,'

Hiruma thought to himself.

He let out a sigh.

He didn't understand the number but knew his new older brother was monstrous. Forget about speed; endurance was required to run at top speed for a full minute.

'I'm unsure if I can do it better, but I have much to work on. One of my main areas of improvement is endurance.'

Hiruma could tell his new body had yet to join, to be a part of that Monster Class.

He had to keep his head down because the road ahead was long.

The simplest feat was opening some doors at the mansion's entrance.

Those who were not sober in the Zoldyck house quickly became disoriented.

"I squandered too much time here."

"Those nosy guys behind the entrance will most likely panic if they notice the problem; let's go back first."

Hiruma, who had just dotted like a rocket, realized how much time had passed before he had become acquainted with his system. It had been far too long.

--

--

Three people came out of hiding near where Hiruma had left.

"Mother, what was all this just now?"

Asked a little girl with a pale complexion, purple hair, and a kimono in that group.

"Without your assistance, I couldn't even keep up."

"How did those seeds appear and vanish out of thin air?"

She was completely insane.

Her twin brother had suddenly become a stranger to her.

If it was Nen, it was fine... But her mother insisted that she had taught him nothing and that he lacked the Nen power.

"How am I to know? But then again, shouldn't I know...? What are you trying to hide from your mom, Hiruma?"

Kikyo responded, albeit not exactly to Kalluto, and she appeared irritated and vexed. She quickly fell into a paranormal trance. The hints she mentioned picking up along the way only confused her.

They also piqued her interest.

The stronger her children became, the happier she became. But she didn't want them to try to escape her. She had to know and manage everything concerning them and their futures.

Killu, on the other hand, was a completely different story.

He had the support of people she couldn't manage.

"..."

Kalluto, who knew her best, went quiet and stopped questioning after detecting the woman's disturbed tone and sensing her on the verge of delirium.

She was confident she'd hear back soon.

She was under no obligation to do anything.

Her mother was currently speaking to herself rather than to her.

When the woman did the eldritch thing, it didn't take long for someone she cared about to suffer.

Kalluto envied the love and special attention but knew a childish pout would be inappropriate.

Hiruma and Killua were her mother's favorites because they could withstand more torture.

Their unusual, exceptional treatment was entirely justified in a house full of trained assassins.
