Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Witchcraft and Magical Art Course 1

A couple of minutes have passed after I tried to start a friendly conversation with Lumiere, and then our next professor comes in for the next class.

She wears a black robe and a witch's hat, and she looks much older than Professor Gale. She seems to be 70 years old.

She went straight to the professor's table and chair. She has a different aura. something I cannot explain. Maybe the right word is calm, but deadly.

She then started to speak in front of the class.

Forgive me as I sit first before I introduce myself. My name is Professor Eumaeus Atala. You may call me Professor Eumi, for short. I believe it is better to give my nickname than to have you guys give me another one. Besides, I shall be your professor for the witchcraft and magical art course.

In my class, you will learn the differences and fundamentals of witchcraft and magical arts.

The first day of class is really the first day of class. It is very unlikely to happen in the world I came from. On our first day, we often get to know each other. But here, I think, every tick of the clock matters. Maybe that's the reason why this school is one of the greatest magical schools in the entire country.

As I think of these things, she proceeds with her discussion.

Witchcraft is often attributed to witches. By its name, we can say it's correct. However, witchcraft can also be performed by anyone else. Witchcraft is the use of magic or sorcery. Then, why is it called witchcraft? Can anybody answer my question?

As usual, Lumiere is just glancing out the window. I assume the topic doesn't interest him. but I do. On the other side of the class, Pavo looks like he is thinking of an answer, while Javanica seems like she knows the answer but is not raising her hand. I think she doesn't want to answer such an easy question. On the other hand, there are some students who don't want to participate, some are sleepy, and some are taking notes.

I suppose no one would like to answer? asked by Professor Eumi.

Her aura changed. There's a killing intent.

Wait a minute, is punishing in this harsh way legal?

And so I raised my hand.

Yes, Ms. Magaea. What is your answer?

Prof. Eumi, it is called witchcraft because the first person to use magic in ancient times was a witch.

What is the name of that witch, Ms. Magaea?

The name of that witch is Minerva.

Good answer, Ms. Magaea.

Minerva is the first recorded witch in history. She made contact with the devil in order to resurrect her deceased sister. The devil agreed and used dark magic to bring her sister back to life. Her life force will be fed to the devil she summoned in exchange.

Now the question is, what was her first act of witchcraft?

Tarsius Syrichta, another student, raised his hand to respond. Or is it just my thought?

Do you have an answer, Mr. Tarsius Syrichta?

and he replied. No, Professor, I need to use the restroom.

He vanished with the snap of Professor Eumi's fingers.

I'm hoping that's teleportation magic. If not, he simply died.

Another question: what exactly did I do to Mr. Tarsius?

This is the type of question that piques Javanica's interest. So she raised her hand to respond, I'm sure.

Yes, Ms. Tyto?

What you just did, Professor, is a magical art. It's the work of teleportation. It is comparable to summoning magic, but the difference is that teleportation magic is spatial in nature, whereas summoning magic is realm-based.

Do you know the first act of witchcraft committed by Minerva, Ms. Tyto?

Yes, professor. It is summoning.

How did you come up with the idea that summoning is an act of witchcraft, Ms. Tyto?

It is because what she just summoned is a demon, professor.

Precisely. There are various kinds of summoning magic. Some use summoning magic to call upon a mythical creature. Some use summoning magic to bring out a weapon. However, there is also what is called conjuring the devil, which, according to the sacred book of the church, is an act of witchcraft. Summoning is an advanced type of magic. There are only a few people who have mastered summoning in our country.

Since the discussion is about summoning, I wanted to ask a question to our professor. And so I raised my hand.

Yes, Ms. Czary, do you have a question? Professor Eumi asked.

Yes, professor. I responded.

Proceed. She replied.

Is it possible to summon a human from another world using summoning magic?

As I finished my question, the whole class seemed to look at me. LUMIERE, WHO WAS JUST GLANCING OUT THE WINDOW, TURNED HIS HEAD AND EYES DIRECTLY AT ME!I felt a chill run through my body.

Ms. Czary, that's an intriguing question. But my response is that I don't know yet. All I know is that the church attempted but failed to summon a human from another world. Given this, we can assume that they believe we are not the only world in which humans can live. Have I answered your question, Ms. Czary?

Yes. I replied.

I'm not sure, but it appears that there is an issue with my question. something I was unaware of. Since there are only two subjects today, I might go to the library after this class. Professor Eumi continued her discussion while I made my decision.

Once again, summoning is an advanced type of magic that only a few have mastered. One great example that I can give is, as we all know, the magic emperor of our kingdom, his highness Darakila. He can summon the celestial spirit Leo.

Every summoned creature has corresponding categories called tiers. Tiers are assigned to mythical creatures based on their rarity, magical abilities, and destructive capabilities. To enumerate the tiers, there are five existing tiers, which are the following: D tier, C tier, B tier, A tier, and S tier. D-tier summoned creatures are always considered the weakest, while S-tier summoned creatures are always considered the strongest.

This is just an introduction to summoning magic since you have a course that will focus on this topic. I decided to give some lectures about this since summoning is the first witchcraft.

Now, let's talk more about witchcraft.

*knock knock*

Come in, says Professor Eumi.

Oh, it's just you, Mr. Tarsius. I thought you would never come back. Success?

Some of my classmates laughed.

Tarsius was embarrassed when he entered the room and went directly to his seat.

It's quite embarrassing if the entire class knows you pooped during class.

And as I think about it, Lumiere shouted, "Get down!"

Something unexpected happened.

~~~
I passed out.
I don't what happened. The last thing I remember is that we are having a class discussion with Professor Eumi and then Lumiere shouted get down. I don't know what happened next.
As I regained my consciousness, I am under a rubble. It's dark. It's noisy. I feel hurt. I don't know what to do. But I tried to get up. And then, there was someone's hand hang on to my right shoulder.
"Magaea, we need to run." It is Javanica's voice. "Let's head to the library. It is safe there."
Without a second thought, I followed her.
As Javanica escorts me towards the library, I realize that we are being attacked. But why is Javanica saving me?
Wait. Why should I be saved by Javanica?
And so I talked to her. What is happening?
We are under attack! Javanica answered.
Who's attacking us? I asked.
I don't know yet. Professor Eumi has been caught off guard. She didn't managed to teleport us. She answered.
What about our other classmates? I asked once again.
They are being protected by Lumiere.
Why are you saving only me? I asked.
And she responded. "Don't ask me. I need to save you. We need to save you. I will tell you everything in the library".
