Chapter 143: CHAPTER 143: YOU'RE BACK
Jack sighed again and also glanced at the twins. He turned back to Lara and softly muttered, " So are you planning to leave that place?"
Lara nodded with a small smile. " Yeah, I don't think It's safe there anymore."
" Hmm... Okay.." Jack nodded and said, " have you told Clara?"
" Yeah. I talked to her on the phone a while ago..." She replied and heaved a deep sigh. " You should go back now Jack.... I'll be fine."
He nodded and smiled faintly then stood up as his thoughts drifted back to his sick mother and__ the engagement. He bid her goodbye after a while then left the hospital.

__ One Week Later __
Lily laughed lightly as she glanced at her sister who was chuckling to herself. " How much was it worth Big Sis?" She asked softly while Clara skipped toward her.
" A lot Lily, I can't believe Derek's so rich... Hehe, " she replied cheerfully and stopped a taxi.
" What do you think I should buy with it... Wait, I need to buy something for Carl.. Something expensive ?" She added as they both entered the taxi.
" How about a necktie, wristwatch, or shoe..." Lily said softly while staring at the bunch of money in her sister's hand.
Clara nodded rapidly and her eyes lit up. " I'll buy him a necktie... I've seen so many in his closet, so I'll buy the nicest. no, the most costly... Hmmm, I think I'm going to use all this money."
Lily nodded with a small smile and stared outside the window while admiring the bright city lights and the huge skyscrapers.
Several minutes later, they arrived at Clara's apartment building and unload their luggages from the car's trunk.
After paying the driver, they walked inside the apartment building while dragging their luggage behind.
Clara retrieved her apartment's key after glancing at Lara's apartment and a sigh escaped her lips. She had to visit her in the hospital tomorrow morning. It's a great thing that it would be the weekend.
She unlocked the door and they both entered inside.
" Big Sis, you don't have any food left?" Lily went to the kitchen and looked inside the fridge with a small frown after they had settled their luggages inside the bedroom.
" Huh?" Clara rushed toward her from the living room and gasped. ' Oh no.' She was also hungry.
" Lemme go down to the grocery store... I'll be right back, " she said hurriedly and left the apartment in haste.
Lily shook her head with a small smile then went back inside the bedroom to take a bath and after coming out in her pajamas glanced at the messy apartment and picked up the vacuum cleaner.

Clara walked up the stairs in hurried footsteps with the bags that contained different kind of food ingredients in her hands.
Sensing a shadow in front of her, she suddenly looked up with a gasp then stopped in her footsteps and was met with a very familiar sight. " Oh..., it's you...." She trailed off while trying to remember his name.
" Matt." The guy replied with a chuckle and she quickly nodded.
" You're back,"? Matt said and she nodded again with a half-hearted smile.
"Let me help." He attempted to grab the bags from her hands and she quickly shook her head while tightening her grip on them.
" I'm okay Matt, the..thank you, " she said quickly and hurried toward her apartment.
Matt stared at her back with an indescribable emotion and he shook his head with a chuckle, then sighed and walked down the stairs.

" Big Sis, what is wrong?" Lily asked with knitted brows as she stared at her sister who had just barged inside the apartment.
Clara shook her head and sighed in relief after locking the door. " It's nothing Lily__ Wow, did you clean the place?" Her eyes lit up at the sight of her now tidy apartment and Lily nodded with a small smile.
She grabbed the bag from her sister's hands then walked toward the kitchen.
" Wait, you must be tired, I'll cook." Clara hurried behind her and Lily's eyes widened slightly with a small gasp.
" It's alright Big Sis__ go and take a bath, I'll cook, " she said softly and started cutting the vegetables.
" Oh, okay.." Clara shrugged and turned back then walked inside the bedroom.
Her phone started ringing as she was about to remove her clothes and she quickly put it back on and retrieved it from her bag then answered the call.
" Clara, are you back!?" Mira's excited voice came from the other end and Clara chuckled.
" Yeah, I just returned.... How're you doing, " she asked softly and could hear shuffling from the other end then came another voice.
" Sister-in-law, are you really back!? Do you want to hang out tomorrow!? No, next tomorrow__"
' Huh?' Clara frowned for a second then quickly recognized the voice. ' Oh, it's Carl's crazy brother'. But she won't be free tomorrow But next tomorrow__? She was about to answer when another shuffling was heard again.
" Zach, give me the phone__ Clara? would you like to go shopping next week, " Mira asked softly from the other end after pushing Zach away. She also wanted to fish some information out of her.
" Yeah, I'll be free..., maybe on weekend, " Clara replied hurriedly and after chatting for a while with Zach chimming in now and then, she bid them goodbye and hung up.
'Lily must have finished cooking'. Her eyes darted to the door and she quickly walked inside the bathroom.
After coming out and changing into her pajamas, she headed to the living room and saw the food splayed on the dining table.
" Do you want to go with me... to the hospital tomorrow?" Clara asked as they hate and Lily nodded.
" I also want to meet the twins, " she replied with a small smile and put down the spoon.
" Uhm, Big Sis, have you speak with Jack?"
" Yeah." Clara nodded with a chuckle and sighed. Even though the conversation was awkward and short. She was thankful that their friendship is still intact.
