Chapter 2: Prologue
Prologue
{Stan's Pov}
*Texas*
A City full of life and adventures. I grew up in this City. My whole life has been in this City. Though, I have been to other Cities and I have my Companies set in other States. I just cannot bring myself to leave this City. My whole family stays here except my sister who lives in Atlanta.
Though, we are not the best family. But we do all we can to stay close to each other and be happy.
Though When You look at us from a distance we may seem like the perfect family but we surely do have our own share of... you know... Ups and Downs.. and Pain.
I come from a family of five. I am the Middle child. I've got a big brother Tyler and a little sister Tanya. Even though, I am just a few minutes older than Tanya, She is still My Little Sister.
"We are the Browns.”
My Dad, Taylor Brown owns the largest Aviation Company In the U.S.
My Mom Pamela Brown was a Model before Marriage and became a full Housewife after having Me and Tanya.
The Family has businesses almost everywhere starting from Construction, Medicals, Education, Aviation, and Entertainment. It's a large Conglomerate. Mostly referred to as the "Browns Empire.
We Browns are mostly recognized by our Auburn hair which we all got from our Mom and brown Eyes like our Dad's but mine is somewhat different. I got Amber orbs like my Mom's.
We Brown Male are Mostly known for our Stoic and stern expression especially when we're at work. "No Joking or Lazing around."
I hate Smiles and laughter. For some reason it makes me...." I don't know.... Uncomfortable I think. I get goosebumps when I am near too much laughter.
"I sound weird, right?"
Well, that's me. The Brown's Weirdo. "Tristan Brown."
I have always been different. Even as a child I enjoy keeping to myself and I Love doing my own things. The only person I'm a little close with is my sister Tanya. And... I think It's probably the twins bond.
Like I said, I enjoy doing my own things. which was why I chose differently.
Though I work in the Brown Empire... You know to keep the Legacy going and those weird things dad keeps saying.
However, I have my own business. I run a Cleaning Company called 'S & S'
Funny, right?
Well, don't blame me. I was always a clean freak even as a child. So growing up I thought to make a living out of it.
Sparkle and Shine was something I started out of habit. You know I couldn't bare to see even a light speck of dust anywhere around me or in the estate So I started to hire people to clean various sections of the estate and then boom!
One day I got this crazy idea. "Why don't I make United States a better place. A place free from dirts. A place always Sparkling and Shining. So that's how Sparkle and Shine came to be.
And to my utmost surprise people took the idea well and patronized the company a lot and gradually S & S became the top leading Cleaning agency in the States.
My dad wasn't happy with it at first but when I promised to always be at Browns Empire For four working Days. He agreed.
So, I get to work in my own company S & S only on Fridays. While I work at my dad's company the rest of the week.
Stressful isn't it?
Well, I have always been a workaholic.
I can be myself only when I am working”
This has been my life which I enjoyed until She Came...."
First, I'd see her in the neighborhood every morning delivering newspapers and Milk. She would always wear this happy smile despite her pitiful situation.
Running around delivering papers, when girls like her were still having their beauty sleep. Yet, she was still happy, And was always wearing a Smile. This thought always baffles me.
I do everything I can to avoid smiling people because I am kind of allergic to smiles and laughter. So I just pass by and make sure my window is well wounded up before driving pass her.
She look so young, yet she had to do those things.
For some reason I always feel bad seeing her there every Morning, running around houses, delivering their Milk and Papers.
My Life was such that there was never any Fun to it. No Friends. No Lover.
My life evolves only around work, work and work until during our last family dinner.
My Mom was really mad at me during the family dinner, she was literally spitting fire at me.
We Brown choose every second Sunday of the month to gather and have dinner as a family and it is a must for everyone to attend.
As we sat at the dinning table Mom started. "Tristan, What is going on with you?"
"Huh? I asked not understanding what Mom was saying.
"Look around here Stan, what do you think is missing? Mom said with displeasure.
I look around and I found nothing missing. I look back to my mom and I shrugged "Nothing."
"Your family is Missing! Mom yelled.
"Oh..." I mumbled quietly. I look around and I realized that she was right.
Tyler my elder brother is happily married with two kids. My twin sister Tanya is Married with a kid and she is already expecting a second one.
So Mom wanted to know what is going on with me. She even asked if I have erectile dysfunction. Which I know is not possible because I get an Erection every Morning when I wake up.
"What's the Problem with you Stan? Mom asks after dinner.
I had tried my best to evade her questions until now. But now, I know there's no escape.
"Don't you want to have someone who carries on your legacy?
"Oh No, Not this Legacy talk again. I prayed silently. I am so fed up of having those legacy discussions
"I haven't found the right person, I said dryly.
"Haven't you? Mom asks, Sarcasm evident in her tone.
"Yes. I replied, pretending I didn't hear the sarcastic remark.
"How would you find anyone if you don't even go out with anyone." Mom said.
I remain silent. Because I truly do not have a word to refute that.
I just hate the idea of going out with ladies.
You know...." Their heavy cologne, make-up and most importantly, their smile. Women tends to smile too much and that is something I can't condone.
"You will get yourself a woman before June or I am setting you up with Jennifer! My mom said leaving no room for negotiation
"But...Mom." I don't want to!
"Why not? Mom asks Looking me in the eye
“Nothing" I shook my head.
"Then why aren't you getting a spouse? or worse bring me a child? Mom barked.
"I don't want to get married." I deadpan.
"Why? Mom demanded
"I don't know...I mean Nothing. "I just do not like the idea of marriage.
"Its sickening, I said grimacing at the thought of marriage.
"Marriage is sickening? Mom asked in surprise.
“Okay." I heard my mom say and I was about to heave a sigh in relief until I heard her say,
"Then get a child!
"What?! I exclaimed in shock. "How do I get a child without a woman.
Mom ignored my question and shouted "If you can't get married. "Fine! "I am going to buy your sick and weird ideology on that. But I also want a child that's yours in the Family. And I don't care how you do it!
"Mom! How is that possible? I asked.
Mom was not ready to back down on this as she said "I don't care if you Get a whore! Get her pregnant! Pay her off or whatever you do.
"Just bring me a child Stan! "Bring me a child!
"Pam! Dad called to put a word in for me, but Mom gives him this strong look and he just shrugs his shoulder at me as if saying "I tried to help."
"Mom! That's Ridiculous!
"Is it? She raised her eyebrow at me.
"I can't do that. I grimaced at the Thought of sleeping with a whore.
"A fucking Whore!
"Who gives their kid such an advise?"
My mom got up, took Tanya's Little girl (Mia) in her arms, she smile caressing Mia's Auburn hair. Mia giggled at this and my mom raised her head and glared at me.
"Bring me your Child or get ready to marry Jennifer come Christmas!
